2020 Presidential Race

USA Today editorial board goes off on Trump. Don't recall such harsh language in recent history.

"No one expected President Donald Trump to be as gracious in defeat as was George H.W. Bush in 1992, the last time an incumbent was defeated. And perhaps only the starry-eyed would think Trump might implement a more aggressive pandemic response now that the numbers are surging again.

Even so, in the past couple of weeks, unable to face reality and unwilling to concede his election loss to Joe Biden, Trump has sunk to new levels of depravity and narcissism.

Rather than making the best of the situation, Trump spends his days golfing, concocting plots to overturn the election results, firing top officials who question him, planning how he might remain a kingmaker, and tweeting with the emotional clarity of a toddler left alone in his shopping cart."

"...The truth is, Trump has spent much of his life failing at business while convincing people that he was successful.

Now he is doing something similar with his presidency. Rather than spending his final days trying to do something positive for the country and his legacy, he is hunkered down at the White House, tweeting a storm of grievance and self-congratulation. Even with someone as low as Trump, we would have expected just a little bit more."
He pretty much showed his hand with the Clown show at the RNC yesterday. They're Clowns not Stupid. They're not going to the SC with a wild conspiracy theory and no evidence. that was a PR stunt for the faithful 70 mil who believe the lies and need bolstering.
Trump will leave the WH as a martyr claiming a FAKE Run in 24 to avenge the thundering herd. He and Bannon will try to bilk as many dollars from the faithful 70 between now and 24 as they can.
there will be no concession and no transition unless Lady GSA comes to her senses.

Lady GSA is getting hauled in front of Congress. She has til Monday to appear. Not sure if she will, but this should be fun to watch.

And it’s on those who stopped the counts and limited access to the observers. And who allowed counting to begin before all the votes were in.
It’s all banana republic garbage and both parties are to blame

Counting before the all the votes are in is what the Florida system does, which you just said we needed.

Nobody stopped the counts, and courts have rejected Trump campaign claims their observers weren’t close enough.

The Florida system does count day of but doesn’t report till all are in. I think that should change to counting next day but they don’t stop till the counting is done and except nothing after the poles close same day. The disputed stats could do that and it would be a huge improvement.
Several states stopped counting and started again. That’s established fact.

I’m interested to see what happens after Trump meets with the MI legislatures. At that point we will know how far Trump is willing to push the boundaries.

Is that right? And what do you call it when they were intimidated into changing their vote in the first place? They originally voted not to certify.
They told reporters in a WaPo interview that they weren’t intimidated into changing their vote. They didn’t claim that until after they had talked to Trump and were trying to “rescind” their votes... which was impossible because they had voted to forego reconsideration.

Supposedly the MI speaker hasn’t confirmed a visit to the WH? Whatever that means. Supposedly he sent a text to the SOS while she was on MSNBC this morning.

Typing this post has convinced me we truly are effed.

Take Pennsylvania: It is required by law to certify the winner there by Monday. If Trump successfully gums up the system such that it cannot - or will not - then theoretically, the Pennsylvania legislature can determine the slate of Electors for the EC - and it's dominated by Republicans.
Even if the legislature wanted to, and there's no indication that they do, it would still be a legal-long shot that it would hold up in court. Precedent is against this. And one state isn't enough.

At this point, I think it’s safe to assume that people complaining about states not allowing observers in the room are either:
A. Not paying enough attention to be taken seriously; or
B. Not acting in good faith.

That has been thoroughly discredited to the point that Trump’s lawyers won’t even allege it in court.

It’s done. That’s dead. That’s why we’re hearing all this stuff about sea creatures, Soros, and the ghost of Hugo Chavez. It’s why the Trump lawyers are now relying on affidavits from people who were in the room.
