2020 Presidential Race

USA Today editorial board goes off on Trump. Don't recall such harsh language in recent history.

"No one expected President Donald Trump to be as gracious in defeat as was George H.W. Bush in 1992, the last time an incumbent was defeated. And perhaps only the starry-eyed would think Trump might implement a more aggressive pandemic response now that the numbers are surging again.

Even so, in the past couple of weeks, unable to face reality and unwilling to concede his election loss to Joe Biden, Trump has sunk to new levels of depravity and narcissism.

Rather than making the best of the situation, Trump spends his days golfing, concocting plots to overturn the election results, firing top officials who question him, planning how he might remain a kingmaker, and tweeting with the emotional clarity of a toddler left alone in his shopping cart."

"...The truth is, Trump has spent much of his life failing at business while convincing people that he was successful.

Now he is doing something similar with his presidency. Rather than spending his final days trying to do something positive for the country and his legacy, he is hunkered down at the White House, tweeting a storm of grievance and self-congratulation. Even with someone as low as Trump, we would have expected just a little bit more."

Yeah, today will be pivotal, in that Republicans can no longer pretend Trump isn't trying to undermine our democracy.

Will likely mark the split between the GOP and POT (Party of Trump).

Here ya go, conspiracy theorists:

Sasse condemns Giuliani's 'wild press conferences': They 'erode public trust'

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) offered blistering criticism of a press conference held on Thursday by Rudy Giuliani and other lawyers representing the Trump campaign, warning that they "erode public trust."

"Wild press conferences erode public trust. So no, obviously Rudy and his buddies should not pressure electors to ignore their certification obligations under the statute We are a nation of laws, not tweets," Sasse said in a statement.

"Based on what I've read in their filings, when Trump campaign lawyers have stood before courts under oath, they have repeatedly refused to actually allege grand fraud—because there are legal consequences for lying to judges," Sasse said.

"President Trump lost Michigan by more than 100,000 votes and the campaign and its allies have lost in or withdrawn all five lawsuits in Michigan for being unable to produce any evidence," he added.

Which is why the strategy is clearly to beg Michigan’s Republican legislators to bail his fat ass out.

Per my prior comments, Sindey Powell should be disbarred here in NC. Disgraceful.

Ernst: Trump lawyer claim that candidates pay to rig elections 'absolutely outrageous'

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said Thursday that baseless allegations from Sidney Powell, an attorney working with the Trump campaign, claiming that down-ballot candidates paid to rig elections are "offensive."

"To insinuate that Republican and Democratic candidates paid to throw off this election I think is absolutely outrageous, and I do take offense to that," Ernst said during an interview with Fox News Radio's Guy Benson.

Ernst was asked about comments Powell made earlier during a press conference where she alleged, without evidence, that "we have no idea how many Republican or Democratic candidates … paid to have the system rigged to work for them.”

Ernst, a member of GOP leadership who won reelection earlier this month, added that she believed the accusation was an "offensive comment."

"For those of us that do stand up and represent our states in a dignified manner, we believe in honesty. We believe in the integrity of our election system which is why I do believe that if there is fraud out there it should be brought to the court's attention," Ernst said.

"To have that accusation just offhandedly thrown out there, just to confuse our voters across the United States, I think that is absolutely wrong," she added.

Trump's goal here is obvious: Delay individual state's certification of election results until after their respective deadlines and/or safe harbor dates.

Take Pennsylvania: It is required by law to certify the winner there by Monday. If Trump successfully gums up the system such that it cannot - or will not - then theoretically, the Pennsylvania legislature can determine the slate of Electors for the EC - and it's dominated by Republicans.

It's ham-handed and, obviously, would literally mark the end of "free elections" to choose our President, but it could work. I don't believe it'll work, but it could. And if it does, there's gonna be a sh*tstorm of epic proportions there, as it would mean that a state legislative body effectively nullifies all the votes of its citizens.

I suspect you'd see the homes of said Republican leaders in PA burned to the ground.
And it would be perfectly acceptable to do so.

Is that right? And what do you call it when they were intimidated into changing their vote in the first place? They originally voted not to certify.
(Edit. Sorry, I originally quoted the wrong person. I agree with you.)

This all day. That is a fact that can't be denied. They originally did not want to certify but were harassed and domed, hence the change.

No one was ever disputing the vote counting or alleging fraud. Biden won WI by the same margin as Trump but has blown him out of the water in MI and PA.

The argument over Wayne Co “balances” in 2020 yet they were way more out of balance in 2016. No one refused to certify then.
And none of the banana republic BS happened in 2016.
If you want people to trust the election then run an election that doesn’t appear that it might be rigged.

if you stop counts, limit people’s ability to see what’s happening and continue to receive votes after the counting has started then you’re going to have the appearance of fraud.

It’s really an easy problem to fix but it appears the people in charge like the system Fugged up.

Sure. After the 4 years of the Russians it’s the Republicans trying to undermine the Republic. (Not the democracy. We are a form of democracy but not a pure democracy).
Anyone clouding up transparency of the elections is undermining the Republic.

After 4 years of firing his way to "exoneration" from the evil Republican Deep State, I look forward to seeing what was denied.

Really don't care about Trump's feelings. I can handle the truth, but its been redacted,.

I don’t care about trumps feelings either.
I do care about the republic.
If the disputed states had used the Florida system we wouldn’t be sitting here now.

And if you (Generic you not you personally) think we would not be doing the same thing if Trump Won then you’re insane. It’s was clear to anyone paying attention that this was going to be a clusterfugg from the beginning.

Well, if you want to know the truth, it is because you guys act like these dudes are some alpha males while ignoring the fact they use cheap hair dye that runs like some **** from a Frasier act and orange bronzer that stains collared shirts. These old ****s are the epitome of beta trash.

It is some weird sh*t, indeed.

Did you see how thirsty Melania got that time she saw Justin Trudeau? Justin Trudeau of all people?

I don't think we have much to disagree on. The things we do are par for the forum.

I wouldn't deny anyone their right to protest, legally (in courts) or otherwise. But there has to be a point where credibility matters.

Are we there yet? Surely we are close, anyway.

This is pretty much on the Republicans, who wanted to intentionally delay the count so they could claim fraud.

This is a very valid point that seems to get lost. It’s easy to shout fraud when doing a presser because all you’re convincing are your already low IQ supporters. However, doing it in front of a judge is an entirely different animal. Don’t worry, these lawyers aren’t stupid, they just think you are, and they’re probably right.

And it’s on those who stopped the counts and limited access to the observers. And who allowed counting to begin before all the votes were in.
It’s all banana republic garbage and both parties are to blame
