Amateur Hour Continues

Your*

I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be making, but I make enough. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Ok sure. I looked up mean lawyer salaries and ranges... damn... a four year BSEE only and I blew thru the upper bounds on most of them I found a decade ago. I was actually shocked that the pay is so crappy after all that time in college

It's like most professions, you make what you want out of it.

Some won't sell their soul.

Eh I didn’t have to sell my soul to make this coin. In fact not selling my soul is largely behind my progression I’d submit.

And I don’t think anybody needs to sell their soul to make good coin as a lawyer when you consider the wide areas of practice.

Just how many lawyers do you know? Some don't sell their souls, per se, but they do work as the devil's advocate.*

I’m familiar with many of their fields. Corporate law, patent law, etc.. they don’t all have to have their face of the side of a city bus or handing out cards to people on gurneys as they are loaded in the ambulance to make what I would call good money.

About 15 years ago a young engineer was going back to law school to become a patent attorney. Based with his BSME and JD he told me what he expected to make and if he followed up in that I’d guess he makes as much or more than I do now 🤷‍♂️

Look I just thought lawyers made a lot more money than they apparently do. No way in hell would I do that much school for those salary prospects.

Just think about the poor public defenders, and I mean that in more ways than one. Hell, DA's don't make that much either until, maybe, they make Judge. Both those type of attorneys work their butts off, if they are doing it right.

In this day and age, I would think that, among those attorneys that spend a lot of their time in court, divorce attorneys probably make the most cabbage per hour in court.

The really big bucks belong to those that successfully bring class action lawsuits, I would think.

Again I believe there are many parts of the field where the pay is very good and you never have to set forth in court room and defend an individual. Thats a speciality unto itself also and those that are good at it probably makes very good coin.

I’m not attacking Rocky I dropped that when I looked up their salaries. Just... damn... way way lower than I expected.

Money isn't everything.

I did say that with a straight face.

Until it hits a log at 65 mph.

Yes, I'm jelly.
I caught air in it north of mid 50’s mph once. Totally missed my guess at sea state level coming out of a cove. Nope no desire to do that again.

Yes these things are looking for a reason to kill you. Mine is a 20’ with a Mercury Racing 250XS it will run low to mid 80’s

That is scary fast for a boat.

Oh you have no idea until you’re actually doing it. It’s just bench racing bragging rights mostly. You’re gulping high octane (on my motor anyway) pure gas at a ridiculous rate which is expensive and hoping one of about 20 things doesn’t happen that can remove you from the gene pool instantly.

You must be my cousin. He has one like that and his answer to why he needs a boat that fast is that he needs to get to his fishing hole first during tournaments. He usually finishes in the top 3, but that probably pays for his gas. He is just competitive as eff.

Yes that is the goto rationalization on why we have to have 250+ HP engines on a tiny ass boat. Yes it’s absolutely ********. I have it for the same reason I have my ARs I wanted it.

The engine on my boat while rated at 250HP the general rule is those engines make around 270-275HP bone stock. Again it’s a Mercury Racing motor.

I have gone 65 in one, that was more than enough for me. At first it was fun, but when you hit some chop and that finally knocks some sense into you/gets you to start thinking, not so much fun any more. Maybe when I was a lot younger and didn't care about consequences, I would have said "Whee, faster, faster." Too many scars from poor decision making, I guess.

Yes when I was late teens early 20’s I was fearless and those were the days I did all of my fastest runs. My current boat is much safer and better equipped and while it is capable of these speeds my foot tends to get light as the speedo gets north of 60mph. And 50-60mph in my boat is fairly stable and safe.

My two cousins used to race boats and are well used to driving over 85mph in a boat. I drove one of them once to about 70 and it was dancing around on a probably 6x8" pad at the back of the boat and no thank's that scared the crap out of me. I'm not competitive to want to kill myself on a lake at daylight to cast a lure 6000 times to catch fish, it's just not my idea of fun.
