Worst Loss of the JP Era

GA State. There is absolutely no excuse for that. Getting mopped by Kentucky is pretty embarrassing but at least they are a SEC team.

We play UT Martin in '22 and UCONN in '23. Two great opportunities for Pruitt to add to this stellar list.

PIck the worse loss of the Pruitt Era. Georgia State is tempting, but I Gotta pick the curb-stomp by Kentucky ( a bad team themselves). Losing by 27 points to a team that was a 6 point dog is unforgivable.
Ok guys there are a lot to pick from- lets hear (read) it. It's like kid in a candy store. A target-rich environment .

Georgia St was by far the worst. You lost to a team that didnt exist a few years ago and it was the first home opener loss in ages.

If you lose to Kentucky you still lost to another SEC team.

And Pruitt had all offseason to prepare for the Ga St game.

when I think about it....the 5 that stand out have the basic overall value in common....which is a lack of effort.

In those games, Tennessee did not show up (2018 Vandy), quit (2020 Kentucky) or folded (2019 Georgia State, 2019 BYU, 2020 Arkansas).

They had halftime leads against Georgia State, Arkansas and BYU. Teams that you would argue Tennessee had a talent and depth advantage over.

But, effort was a factor in all of them.

So, it’s clear that he hasn’t corrected whatever cultural issues exist

It happened with Dooley. It happened with Butch. It happened with Pruitt. We will probably go get another name about 15-20 spots down our short list for the next coach.

Tennessee needs to shut up and throw 8 million a year on the table and see who bites.

If no good coaches bite for 8 mil then you know the situation at UT is truly dire and there's a bad stink on the program.

1.The vandy loss in 2018 to knock us out of bowl eligibility was epically bad.
2. The beatdown KY put on them in Neyland this year
3. The GA ST loss last year
4. Every curb stomping UF, Bama, and UGA has put on him in 3 seasons

seeing a trend here.. year 1,2,3..

GSU for sure. It hurts to pay $$$$ to a team to come and lose to you and practice rotating linemen and other strategic coaching moves. Only to get beat by a team that started Football 12 years ago in 2008 as a FCS team joined Sun Belt 2013 beat the Vols as a play for pay game in their 11th year of existence in 2019.

The culture issues got Fulmer, Dooley, and Jones fired.
Pruitt is next.
I am not smart enough to know what the issues are.
But it is pretty clear it ain't an easy fix.

Pretty easy as others have said.

Georgia state overall. UK blowout loss at Neyland for SEC

And you thought the Memphis ‘96 game with Peyton was bad.....

Mid-season in year three, you've got to look better than we did against Kentucky, at home. That was the moment I came to the conclusion that Pruitt isn't the guy.

Here's a Top 10 list Letterman style

Here are the bad losses (in order)

1. GA State (There's no other answer)
2. Arkansas (The lack of adjustments plus Pittman's Y1 team whipping us)
3. UK (Losing by 27 at home and quitting)
4. Vandy (Team quit)
5. Mizzou (Team quit)
6. UF (2019 - Team was really outcoached)
7. UF (2018 - Team was really outcoached)
8. BYU (Team was outcoached at end)
9. WVU (2018 - Team wasn't prepared at beginning of either half)
10. Bama (2020) - Didn't expect to win but looked like coaching staff quit

pick about any game the last 15 years and you’ll be embarrassed
But, this current team of Pruitts may be the worst to ever play the game, especially after losing to Vandy again this year

Too many to list really. But since you asked, for me, it is GA ST @home last year with UK blowout at home this year very very close.

Georgia State is the worst loss so far, but I’m really glad the Charlotte game was canceled. I have no doubt Will Healy would’ve eaten Pruitt’s lunch

How exactly do you define "worst?" The most painful? The most embarrassing? The one that cost you the most?

The most costly and perhaps the most embarrassing loss in the history of the school was probably 1996 Memphis.
