Bill Connelly says the #1 factor in production drop off is losing WR production. That might be the simplest answer. I sure know we were waay better on 3rd downs last year, much because JJ and MC were monsters at getting to the sticks and picking them up the last 2 years.

You could even throw in losing DWA and Pope too. Our TEs went from ok to just nothing at all.

Jennings was our best short yardage target because of his slant move he would fake outside and swim over the top of the defender to get under him for the slant. Worked every time because he would stem all his routes that way.

Boy we are like a group of crazed dogs around here.

My interpretation of that “quote” is that covid has made this team closer as unit because they had to ban together to get thru the Covid issues. I don’t see an excuse at all in fact I see the opposite

He also had Calloway taking the top off and stretching defenses.

So you're attributing his quote to mean that they are closer as a group/team, that they were last year due to the requirements put in place to handle the COVID issues? That's a better explanation that using the word 'closer' to insinuate that the team is 'closer' to success than it was last year. I think Trey Wallace should've set that up better?

it's not moving anywhere except in dan's mentions and DM's and likes, which is why he did that. jeez.

w/out knowing a thing on what's going on behind closed doors, i'd bet a pay check right now that there's zero conversation on firing Jeremy Pruitt right now.

fans are pissed. bad losing streak. it's not hard for "journalists" improve those click #'s right now. that's what's going on...nothing more.

You’ve got your head in the sand if you think there’s been 0 conversation about it. You think not a single donor or admin has brought it up, even casually? Very doubtful.

I took it to mean closer as unit as being a “team”
but yea it’s not clear

Florida fired a coach halfway through his third year after he won the East in each of his first two seasons. They had a coach they wanted and they went out and got him and now they are title contenders. Tennessee, however, sits on their hands hoping things will work out.
Mullen was their third choice and he waited for them after interviewing with us. And they didn’t benefit from firing McElwaine a few weeks before we axed Butch.

If Chaney is moving on after this season then I would definitely call Brandon Streeter. He is the Passing Coordinator/QB coach at Clemson. He has worked with Lawrence, DJ, and all their other QB's since 2014. He is a terrific recruiter, had the role of Recruiting Coordinator, and he is their point person for recruiting Ty Simpson. He is making around $450K so we could double his salary and make him OC to transform the offense to what he wants to do.

Brandon Streeter

Clemson coaches don’t leave Clemson because it’s a cult and assistant coaches happily let Dabo sleep with their wives.

Think it would’ve already happened. From their end, they prolly don’t feel the need.
they don’t have a say so on canceling the game in terms of “need” or “want”
To cancel. If they have to numbers available to play by policy they have to play

Folks - they are not going to get high end coordinators to come to UT to join a HC on the hottest of seats after a 2-8, 3-7 season. You may get fired coaches or their coordinators to come. Is that what you want? The UTAD and local media will hype them and act like they are the greatest ever just like they always do. Until they are not.

Nothing program changing will happen unless they cut Jeremy loose before the end of the season. He doesn't have it as a HC. That doesn't make him a bad person, just not a good HC for UT. He makes some really questionable to dumb decisions during games as well as player choices. He's not even handling his best area of expertise (the D) well at all. The trail of tears against lesser teams along with blow outs by better programs tells it all.

Making a move tells prospective quality HC's they are committed to winning. The top ones have to be assured that is the commitment, which is more than just the bigger paycheck and long term contract. The game has changed. We need to change. Doing the same thing for the past dozen years is insanity. It is extremely costly financially and it constantly damages the goodwill with the fan base.
