it's not moving anywhere except in dan's mentions and DM's and likes, which is why he did that. jeez.

w/out knowing a thing on what's going on behind closed doors, i'd bet a pay check right now that there's zero conversation on firing Jeremy Pruitt right now.

fans are pissed. bad losing streak. it's not hard for "journalists" improve those click #'s right now. that's what's going on...nothing more.

Bingo

Where exactly is his competitive drive at? Haven't seen it since 2018 tbh
bull. there was plenty of it on display last year....you don't lose to who we lost to the way we lost last season, and then reel off 8 straight wins w/out having a serious competitive streak.

hell if you're a quitter, i think right after the BYU game would have been a good spot for "i'm out, sorry".....

the revisionist history on display right now, while i understand it, is fairly ridiculous.

I’m actually just venting my frustrations. I only meant that there’s no way he gets let go this year and doubt it until after next season anyway. He keeps himself afloat with an 8 win year next season but I just don’t see that
I think there is a realistic chance he is fired if he only wins three games especially if we are blown out by everyone else. But we shall see. We are all mad brother.

justifiably so.

but there's a lot of speculation being presented as "fact" around here right now. people wanna vent, fine. i've been venting as well, mostly against my own better judgement....lol.

but when i see some of this stuff that's being posted, and people are accepting it as facts about the situation....that's where i draw the line....that's not venting, that spinning a narrative, to what end i have no idea because no one in their right mind should take anything posted here, that's not linked to a credible source, as fact.

I’ve never seen anything like this bunch. I’m no happier than any of you, hell I’m even checked out of the football season because of it now...but, y’all have got to be the pitchfork brigade if I’ve ever seen it. Worse than a bunch of children not getting the BB gun they ask for when they’re too young for it. I’m pissed off, myself. Real bad. Do I want it to be off with his head? No. We all knew what kind of situation we were in when he took the job a few years ago. It’s legitimately not gotten that much better and there’s good reason for that. The roster still isn’t comprised of all the type players that SHOULD be on an SEC roster, including JG whom I think would barely fit in at the FCS level. For us to expect that we’re gonna be able to pick and choose whomever we want to come here as assistants & all that, we have to be kidding ourselves & that’s not even being negative or mean about it. I live and breathe this university just like any of you but there’s no way I’m coming in to get pummeled by this fan base and then not get to to have access to the things I need to be successful due to booster & donor incompetence. Whether we like it or not, we’ve got to continue to leave it up to Pruitt until his contract expires unless he shows some tangible results. This year has been wacky for a team that couldn’t afford to not have spring practice and summer practice and fall. We don’t have the kind of talent yet to overcome those problems unlike the teams we’re trying to catch. We just aren’t there no matter how much we have felt good about our swipes at them. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but in my eyes his leash is getting tighter and tighter. I’m hoping we can retain our recruiting class at least for this season and that will give us a fighting chance next year because I truly believe Jarrett is gone and we will have an influx of a youth movement of Pruitt’s type of players and guys that want to play together. This team has no cohesiveness because there are too many ME players that don’t know how to play with any players that have the killer instinct drive like Jauan had. No leaders. All followers.

Good post. I think the team gets it turned around before the end of this season. GBO!

Haha! We’re all venting. As we should. The only chance we have of not getting blown out by AM, Auburn, and UF is Bailey taking over and playing well. If not, it is highly unlikely that those teams don’t drag us. If so, the heat will be too much to n Oruitt and we will see a change. IMO of course.

I know we're talking about motion here, but bear with me...

72 just wiffs on his block and 68 barely slows his guy down. 55 ends up running into 72 at end of play. i get we had 5 to block 6, but when 3 guys miss blocks, it really doesn't matter.
Good observation. Simply pathetic effort on the whole right side of the line.

that's fine, i think more of my post was directed at all the insinuations and speculation on what wearing a shirt means or the extrapolations that were taken from that Hubbs deal yesterday....or what a player transferring "really" means....just a lot of BS to stir the pot.

the reality is, all we really need to stir the pot and vent is 4 losses in a row. the rest really doesn't matter and is only meant to incite.

"and i'll tell ya another thing............." in it's purest form.............

so what i'm left with is real simple...what's the goal? do you WANT him fired? is that the end game? cause there's a difference in saying he should be fired because of performance, and pushing a narrative because you WANT him fired and the situation has finally presented itself that it's at least on the table for fans.

there's a difference.....and the water gets muddied real quick with some of the BS that's being put out there right now.

i couldn't care less what shirt he wears to an online press conference. i do care a great deal about looking like a JV squad against Ark and UK....and the direction of the program....

anyway..............it is what it is at this point.

Like UK and Arkansas?

This team has no cohesiveness because there are too many ME players that don’t know how to play with any players that have the killer instinct drive like Jauan had. No leaders. All followers.

Maybe, but with the blowout losses to UK and Arky, the greater concerns are (1) the complete regression of player development on both sides of the ball, (2) the inability of the coaching staff to put together an effective gameplan, and (3) the utter failure of QB recruiting and development. Yes, JG is a sub-par QB and limits what we can do on offense. But a good staff finds a way to overcome (or at least scheme around) such limitations, especially against teams we should be beating (e.g., UK and Arky).

Both the staff and players have looked completely lost since the second half @UGA. I don't see that getting fixed this season. If Pruitt only wins 3 games this year, Philip has a difficult decision. There will be a handful of good coaches available (Freeze, Chadwell, Fickell), but firing another coach when revenues are down significantly may not be fiscally responsible. If Pruitt survives until next season, he's going to be on a nuclear-fission-level hot seat, which isn't going to help recruiting.

Am I the only one that doesn't want to hire Freeze?

First, I have extreme doubts that any major coaching change will come after the season. Maybe, there's some shuffling of position coaches, but Chaney and Ansley stay. Pruitt is not going anywhere unless they lose every game, and even then, I'm not so sure.

I'm not denying that Hugh Freeze is a talented, offense mind and has shown he can get players. AJ Brown and DK Metcalf were his recruits, and those dudes look like top 10 wrs in the league as second year players. What bothers me about Freeze is the sleaze and the misconduct. At least Kiffin was up front about being loose with the rules. Freeze does the worst thing. The "wolf in sheep's clothing" thing. He presents himself as saint to families, and then get publicly accused of multiple recruiting violations, which he then tries to blame on Houston Nutt. Of course Nutt's lawsuit led Ole Miss to learn that Hugh has been calling up prostitutes on his work cell phone. Then the only job he can get is Liberty, who has had their own share of scandal and questionable practices.

I don't want the dude. I don't think he can recruit well without cheating, and he's clearly shown he is incapable of cheating well. Everytime someone brings up Kiffin, you always get a crowd saying he'll be a program ruiner. To me, Freeze is that guy.

We can find someone better.

I firmly believe Hubbs would not have made those comments without knowing how the AD would receive them. He’s smart. However, I don’t believe for a second that the AD wants to get rid of Pruitt this year.

So why stir the pot if you ain’t cooking?

I can’t reconcile it
Hubbs real job...........?

Gaddy was quoted as saying coaches were telling kids with a Covid year they would rotate a lot and be ready. Kids were grinding and then guy comes back from quarantine and boom right back into his place. Also, practices were VERY LIGHT. So a lot of disconnect and not much leadership. They have lost the faith of these kids. Can’t tell them one thing and do another. Said this year was different than way it has been as far as competition. Sounds like coaches had a throw away year and lost players as a result. All makes sense with what we know.
And another thing that is grounds for dismissal! There is never a throwaway year when you have opportunity to develop kids to be better in the future. This is so identical to the same situation with the two previous head coaches between their second to last year and last year! We are once again going to retain the HC a year too long!

This right here! I keep thinking about how mediocre Crompton was until Kiffin simplified the offense for him and made him look much better. Simple things like understanding what plays he was comfortable with, rolling the pocket to one side, etc. There's too much experience and investment in that coaching staff to not see basic solutions being implemented. It's not that they've tried things and they haven't worked, it's that they've seemingly tried nothing!

If you want to say we had more than average difficulty in preparing for this season do to extenuating circumstances so be it. Someone please explain to me what the hell they were doing for the two weeks leading up to Ark? Same inputs, and same crappy output. It's truly remarkable to see the regression from last year to this.

Nailed it. These should be the sole concerns of all Vol fans.

To your point, I saw posts on another Vol board complaining that Pruitt was "too mean" to Brumbaugh, and somehow this would prevent talented assistants from joining the staff. No mention of the staff sh*tting the bed against UK and Arky. I know it's the internet, but you have to shake your head sometimes.

While I still firmly believe Pruitt isn’t going anywhere this is the only thing that gives me pause. Hubbs doesn’t speak unless the university wants him to. I think the only way a change is even remotely considered is a 2-8 finish. I mean you lose 8 in a row and you should be Covid year or not.
