He’s had 9 staff member changes in 31 games. Staff changes not going to work either.

It's just denying reality and kicking the can down the road at this point. I'm absolutely out if we go 3-7 or worse and don't fire him. Especially if Fulmer feeds the fanbase some BS vote of confidence and uses the COVID excuse. Which we all know is coming.

When has a coach, with such obvious red flags of sucking at his job so early in his tenure, made wholesale changes to his staff in a make it or break it year....and then became successful?

Dooley made changes and then received a big buyout plus got hired by the Cowboys. I would say he did pretty well.

The QB situation was and still is a mess.

I don’t think Chaney is bad but he’s a bad fit with Pruitt. So while we will likely need to make a change, we’ll end up with someone like Larry Scott at the helm.

Difference than previous firings is right now we have a proven great coach at this level who would crawl through broken glass to take this job. We dont have to take a chance and hope the coach can win in the SEC. Its Hugh Freeze dream job. The money will make itself up on the back end. The stars are lining up for TN Football finally but they wont do it

Yep, this feels exactly like the end of Butch and Dooley. Rearranging deck chairs when the ship is going down. Were about to have Larry Scott back on O and Sal Sunseri back as the DC.

While I can’t say this is a good thing, this is part of college football these days. I looked back at Mark Stoops’ staff over the years as most would call his tenure as stable. He replaced 5 coaches his third year and 8 over his first three years. Some did get hired at other places as a step up (like a Helton), but he fired an OC after one year, did not retain a contract on another, and one left for Maryland. Kirby seems to have replaced a lot of coaches as well.

On a side note, Brumbaugh worked with Ansley at UK. How did we not know his work ethic? Bad advice from Ansley.

Defensive staff will have Co-DC's. Shoop and Sunseri.

Pruitt won’t be a good fit for any OC. As soon as he smells any weakness in his defense, he slaps a governor on the offense to protect it.

It will be his ultimate demise.

Playing devils advocate for Pruitt in this scenario.....

I don’t doubt his ability to scheme for an opponent defensively so if he were to take back full control of the defense and hire an OC that’s more modern/spread... i feel ok with us bouncing back and having a solid year next year.

Who would you go after for OC next year? I mean it’s a given that Pruitt will have to clean house on that side of the ball.
