I don’t want to temper your excitement but joe Brady will be a NFL Head coach next season.
We’ve seen the Sarkisian movie before, he’s not a good head coach.
Freeze is probably the most likely established coach who’d take this job.
Sarkisian was successful at both Washington and USC. Now try him without the alcoholism.

Am I the only one that thinks freeze is probably a genuinely good dude that just ****ed up?

Maybe, maybe not. I honestly don't think it matters because we have the resources to keep him in line and once we get going you don't have to cheat here like you do at ol miss

It’s not the cheating that bothers me, it’s cheating publicly and poorly that worries me. We’re all dirty in this sport, but you have to be smart about it and Hugh has proven he isn’t. And he’ll protect himself over the program if it comes to that point.

Also, I cannot stand the faux-religion he uses to recruit kids. Some of the stuff he did to try and sign Drew Richmond was rightly criticized on here.

He’s a snake oil salesman of the worst kind. He also happens to be a very good football coach. I won’t deny that. I, personally, would rather look elsewhere.

If that puts me in the minority then so be it.
You just described Dabo Swinney.

Tam is good for at least one choke job a year but that still means beating us by 10.

Its insane how offense oriented the league is now, and we are trying to play 1980s ball.

The stars are aligned to bring in a proven winner. You have no competition currently. Do it Fulmer, or just finish off what’s left of this program.

It's very similar to a Rick Barnes situation. There was risk there as well. Was he over the hill? Content to collect a nice retirement buyout? Worked out nicely. Freeze I think is maybe only slightly riskier than Pearl to Auburn, which has obviously been a huge success.

I don't understand our defensive play calling either. In their first two years Pruitt and Ansley were super aggressive and loved to blitz. Now this year they barely do. Also very few line stunts and twists. In the 4th quarter the coaches got more aggressive with the play calling and we got some stops, we need to do more of that going forward.

Regardless of what happens or who lead us in future, we just need some dang excitement. All these offenses out there that make it look easy and are fun to watch. We haven’t had a fun offense to watch in what 4-5 yrs? It’s getting old. Our defenses haven’t been elite and scary in longer than that. I thought Pruitt would at least have defense as elite at some point but not looking likely.

Phil’s ego has to be part of it. He wants us to do well but he wants to build it. He doesn’t realize that fans will love him all the same if he just hires a proven winner.

Exactly. You should make the call now. Once A&M takes us to the wood shed, let him go, promote Chaney to finish out the year, and go get your guy. Name it early so he can have a decent early signing period. Sit back and enjoy the rise. But it’s too simple. We will just continue to suck ass and use covid as an excuse.

How in the H E double hockey sticks was Maurer the number 2? He was scared to death out there. He scrambled when there was no pressure and throwing off his back foot. He looked way worse than last year.

Why don’t we roll the pocket?

When they were run blitzing with 8 in the box, why couldn’t we leak out a TE or WR where the LB’s vacating? Also, why not call a screen in that situation?

Why didn’t we throw one deep to maybe get a WR a shot to come down with it or get a PI call?

Why can’t our DB’s cover a slant to save their lives?

Why wait to the 4th quarter with 6 minutes left to actually start putting pressure and blitzing Franks? Everybody knows he makes mistakes when he’s pressured.

Why does the defense stink worse in year 3 than it did in years 1 and 2?

I could go on and on. The answer is

Pruitt

Oh I agree. I hope the falcons hire him. Take a chance. Sark is average but he would still be the third best coach in the East. Freeze is just obvious.

This team has talent. The Oline could be GREAT, the Dline shows flashes and the Offense has playmakers......but.

No player progression and if there is it’s a 1/4 of what it should be. No creative play calling, very very vanilla so it’s not hard to scheme defensively against us.

Absolutely no fire, rah rah or any emotions on the sideline. Not one player stepping up emotionally

Now, from what I know about UT football and most of y’all do as well....., Pruitt has another year minimum. They’ll chalk this year up to Covid and a few changes may be made during the off season but in my opinion, CP will be back at least one more year.

It’s hard watching the Vols, and has been hard for 10+ years now and that’s just unacceptable. I don’t know how you fix it, it’s like we are in quick sand and just get deeper and deeper. At some point you gotta go all in and spend big BUCKS on a PROVEN Coach. I’m talking about a TXam type of offer to a PROVEN head coach and give him complete control.

Just my opinion.
