Maybe they’re all not good enough?

Well then he shouldve went out and got another one...and another one. He should've kept searching until he found a better option. I dont get a sense of urgency from this coach at all and that pisses me off about him.

The really good grad transfers want to play for a championship so we’re not on their list...are we any better off picking up transfers that don’t give us anything better that JG, Maurer or Shrout? I’d Love to get a kid like Miami did but again, he chose them because he felt he could immediately compete for a championship. Georgia picked up two really good grad transfers because they thought they could play for championships.

Fans don’t mean jack squat. They follow, don’t lead. Most of the fans have no clue what’s going on.
You think so, if fans stop buying tickets and memorabilia, I.e. Hats, jerseys, etc; watch what happens. The fans of UT are the only foundation keeping this s-itshow together. The "care takers" have done absolutely everything possible to kill or create apathy in the fan base by incompetent UT Chancellor hires , AD hires and coaching hires. UT is playing bad football and quitting because that is the standard accepted by those responsible.

This kind of shoots a hole in the Pruitt is a great recruiter narrative then.

By Year 3, the overhaul and upgrade of the roster should be well under way.
Or it shows how difficult it is to upgrade your roster. We celebrate getting 2 to 4 of the top 100 players in a class while Bama And Georgia sign on average 10 per class. Pruitt has improved the talent level but it’s a slow uphill climb. Tennessee is not a destination school anymore.

Either we've got the worst talent evaluators in the biz or we have coaching/culture issues. By all accounts, Pruitt and Ansley are DB gurus. So why are they running around like a chicken with it's head cut off? We've supposedly loaded our OL with 4* and 5* NFL bound talent but they're consistently inconsistent. This staff can't even decide who the starting 5 should be and what positions each should be playing.

We've had 3 years of recruiting and development yet we still have no real answers at the most important position on the field...QB. It's JG all day every day. Between Hill(when he was here), Maurer and Shrout...not one of them can manage the game/offense better than JG? They STILL don't know what to do? After this much time in the program? Hell, we run this so-called RPO offense but don't have the qb to run it and even recruit a kid who the OC reportedly doesn't like and doesn't seem to fit that offense. At this point, I'd be taking a page from the UK playbook and putting Jimmy Holiday in at QB and really have a running threat at the position. Do something...anything other than the same thing week after week...year after year.

Who am I kidding. It is what it is.

You left out the possibility that the vast majority of fans suck at evaluating talent in part because they don‘t see practice or go through game film to determine why plays failed...

Why would Tee and Chaney clash? I assume it would be with either Weinke or Friend. Friends group is the deepest and highest rated on the entire team but still doesn't play like it. In any case, it's just hearsay.

Agreed. I can't still can't believe we have mediocre Oline play with four 5 stars and some decent depth. Then again, this is Tennessee Football, so maybe I can believe it.

So has Kirby. He’s got a hobbit at qb.

But Kirby is an idiot - he’s got a 4 star (Mathis) on the bench but continues to play Bennett. Kirby must not be able to evaluate talent...or maybe Kirby can’t develop talent...or maybe Bennett has something on Kirby...or [insert any of the other “reasons” listed on Volnation as to why Pruitt continues to go with JG]...

Pruitt's had 3 years to go out and get a 5th year QB transfer that can play. You see schools all over the country doing this to great success. For whatever reason Pruitt didn't bother.
You are incorrect
Pruitt the had tried to get very good WB transfers who decided to go to Oklahoma Ohio State and others. Those transfers realized that we had real problems with our Oline and that would be running for their lives if they transferred too Tennessee. Even this year, the Oline is not playing at championship levels.

When Pruitt’s Vols quit against Kentucky at Neyland Stadium , it was apparent, Pruitt doesn’t have control of this team and everyone watching the game saw the team give up and quit
Quit?? They had 4 turns which resulted in non offensive points in addition to kept an under manned defense on the field for most of the second half. The team did not quit and the QB had a horrific second half.

I don't disagree that it is more difficult to rebuild a roster than it was in say Fulmers day.

That being said, if he can't start competing with Alabama and Georgia off the field then they will never compete on the field.

And having more signature losses than signature wins isn't going to help with the recruiting either.

My guess when I said Tee is that Martin would have higher aspirations down the road than a position coach and would hope to have more input with roster decisions and gameplan.

Why Hyatt didn't see the field early and often is beyond me.

I see, but I assume he came here aware that Chaney wants to retire here. He either eventually gets hired elsewhere or waits for Chaney to retire.

Could he, I'm just on here slinging BS like most everyone else lol.

I know Pruitt hasn't ever been accused of being easy to deal with either so the whole staff could be subject to rumors.

Except for Friend.

And anyone else Pruitt went to high school with or had at his wedding LOL.

Ok. But we're not talking about losing to Alabama and Georgia. When you lose to GA State, BYU, and get throttled at home against Kentucky, that is NOT a talent gap issue!

I think JG is bad, but did Maurer have a game without an interception during his limited playing time? He developed last year up until the concussion, no spring ball this year, injury issues this spring and fall as well. I think Mauer has potential, but you can’t win from the trainers table.
Jeff George threw a lot of picks too, but if the picks are 50 yards down the field, they don't hurt so bad. Quarterbacks that trust their arms are going to take chances sometimes. That is also a part of their development. He is also still young and inexperienced. Next year he will just be inexperienced.

UT has a roster better than if you combined Georgia state, byu, UK. literally. no excuse to lose and thats with JG at QB.
BYU is #9 and just thrashed Boise St at their place. We don't have a better roster than those combined teams. We certainly don't have position coaches worth more than minimum wage.
