Would Fleck be a good fit For Vols?

I don't want my wife thinking about her next husband while we're still married, and I don't want to think about our next coach while we still have one. Fleck has done well, but Fleck was a head coach before. Pruitt is our coach. Just support our coach and our team. There are plenty of good coaches out there, and I want to believe we have one of them.

I think about what I want in my next wife a lot.

What makes you think he’d even take it ? I know it’s hypothetical question, but last three hires have not been the intended target let alone the second or even third choice.
You’re right.
he might not.
itssoooo sad that our program isn’t considered a great Final destination anymore.
i have no answers .

What makes you think they would?
Think it would depend in timing...if CJP was fired at seasons end....with the current core on the team and the right amount of cash...it is doable....
If 2 or 3 years after we have been butched and the roster is bare....your 100% right. No chance

Y'all realize this dude won 11 games at Minnesota, and 13 games at Western Michigan before that? Both within the last four years? We haven't won ten games since 2007
Fleck would be an awesome hire, I wanted him after we fired Butch

1. "They didn't beat anyone except for their best win" is a weird line to tow. They did beat Penn State, and they beat everybody nearly everybody else on their schedule
2. They beat a 12th ranked Auburn team that was just coming off beating #5 Alabama
3. He won 13 games at Western Michigan. We haven't won 13 games in Trey Smith's lifetime

I give them credit for beating Penn St but his record otherwise is mediocre at best. And we beat Auburn too. And 13-0 doesn’t mean anything when you play a bunch of G5 stiffs.

We did not beat Auburn, or even play them. That was 2018 when they ended up not finishing the year ranked. And he was using a G5 roster of players against other G5 rosters, so it means quite a lot, especially at a program that hasn't even been successful at that level usually
Were Pruitt not to work out, who out there that's attainable that would be better?

Gary Patterson is the only pretty consistent coach I could see doing well here. Outside of the unrealistic fantasy hires like a Saban or Gruden or Dabo type. Everyone else is either underwhelming or would be a hit or miss risk like we’ve been doing

Well we're in agreement there, I would love Patterson here. I wouldn't consider him attainable though. But if he were I'd be thrilled, I often think about where we'd be had we hired him over Kiffin. Curse Mike Hamilton

Didn't we take a look at Fleck before we hired Pruitt?...I seem to remember talk abut him then...He is a good coach no doubt.

Yeah Patterson would do very well here I think...Hell he's had TCU winning for years now and that's not an easy thing to do...Recruiting wise he would be a rock star here at UT...Plays a fun style of football.

Row the boat guy. Not sure he'd fit here. I like the fact Fulmer went out and got a guy that understood this league. Not thrilled it was a guy with no prior head coaching experience. Fleck would go through a learning curve here too. People would get tired of him quickly if he wasn't winning. I don't think the brand sells itself enough anymore to get these type of guys and expect them to do much more than make bowl games every year. May as well keep Pruitt if this is the type of guy we want.

I think the guy's alot better than Botch, not saying we'd want him, but Minnesota has been crap for a long time and he's made them relevant. That's way more than Botch ever did.
Fleck has been more hyped that Butch ever was, but I'm not sure the guy is any better. He had good marks at a mid-major school, then had a good year in year 3 at his first P5 job. Very, very similar to Butch. The slogans and his overall shtick are eerily reminiscent.

The difference is he took over a G5 school that was bad and made them great. Butch took over two G5 schools that were great and made them good. And Flecks 3rd year at a P5 he went 11-2, Butch went 9-4
