New QB being Installed During Offweek

He could leg out some first downs. Peyton had a 76 yard TD once. Never seen the Rodgers comparison...that’s why I continually reference it. Really ridiculous at this stage.
Not really. At this stage it’s no more ridiculous than comparing any pro qb to any qb coming out of Hs wouldn’t you say?

It's the unfortunate reality of JG as QB; what options does Chaney really have?

If Pruitt were serious about opening the offense up, and scoring more than 24 points, he'd have already made the QB switch.

His defense-first mindset is going to get him canned in the end.

Very true. Pruitt’s ideology will never make him a great HC. He’s too hardheaded and unwilling to change.

It is when you did so unsolicited from the very beginning. Impatience isn’t a virtue.

I did so after hearing the comparisons for years from professionals. Of coarse there were other comparisons as well but Aaron Rodgers was the most common and the one I personally see the most. You can look right now at qbs coming out of Hs and you should notice something. They are very careful about making comparisons to pro qbs that are considered “elite”. The reason for that is they don’t want to seem as if they’re giving a guarantee. So you’ll see very few, if any comparisons to the likes of Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Mike Vick or any of those guys past or present. You can look at Brian’s and his comparison is Alex Smith. Do you see Alex Smith when watching Brian’s highlights? Because I don’t.

I could see Maurer doing like Joe Burrow. I don't know about Bailey yet.

I’ve been careful about making the Joe Burrow comparison because people will lose their chit but their games are very similar. So I’m with ya on that. What I find funny is you have examples like that while people are complaining we don’t have a qb. There’s a thread right now about Phiex (spelling) as we speak talking about how UT let him go. Well here we are again and most of the fan base is guilty of the same things the coaches are being criticized for. I would say a little under half the fan base would be sorry to see Maurer go in favor of Bailey.

They won’t compare to an elite qb. If I’m being honest I DO see a LITTLE Tom Brady in HB in his mechanics. Other than that I can see the Orton comp. I see Jay Cutler in Shrout and early Dak Prescott in JG (minus the leadership).

Fellow professionals or real ones? All of em should wait imo.

Never questioned me huh? Yet here you are calling me less than professional. But I’ll play your game. Fellow professionals and real ones are one in the same and before you come up with some slick remark, you know my posting history as well as anyone. What have I said since day 1 that’s made me look incompetent?

And no, they shouldn’t wait. All top recruits get their comparisons in Hs. That’s the way it’s always been. Why should it change? And when should it be determined in your opinion? In college? Wait until when/if they make the pros? Do better Butchna.

Mike Vick was nowhere close to as good as Rodgers or Brady

For those digital warriors out there who don’t understand the actual schedule and challenges Tennessee has had please read

1. Due to COVID, NO backup QB has been developed due to MANDATED quarantine from contact tracing. Blame Trump, Blame Biden, Blame China, Blame whoever. You can’t train a backup in 4 practices.

2. Our QB issue is about AWARENESS and the offense. Our mistakes are due to bad decision making. A QB questioning himself.

3. Chaneys offense DEPENDS on a QB who can AUDIBLE and make MULTIPLE reads. Maybe a young gun can do this, however, you need PRACTICE to have a playbook deeper than your wristband.

I GUARANTEE QB change happening for Arkansas UNLESS COVID/HEALTH issues.

BOOK IT

Flame away
You left so many outs in this "book it". Smh

I think you work at the job of developing QBs. Then there those that evaluate players. If either make declarative statements about a player BEFORE he has a body of work, they discredit themselves. The “real” comment referenced you evaluating with others who don’t do it for a living. Putting you in the same school as me yakking at a sports bar.

I agree but he was elite because he was the first of his kind as a qb with his running abilities.
I would disagree that he was "elite". He was good and had a cannon arm, but wasn't all that great in the pocket. He could run well too, but so can Lamar Jackson, who is struggling this year because defenses know how to scheme him now

In order to properly “develop” evaluation is critical believe it or not. If you can’t evaluate, you can’t develop because you’d have no idea where to start with each individual qb. This is where Pruitt is falling short. You can’t coach every player the same. Let’s say you have 2 15 YO qbs. Can you develop them the same? No. Why? Because age doesn’t matter. All that matters is ability and the two may be miles apart. So the next step for one may be something I’m working on with a different 12 YO where the others next step could be something I’m working on with D1 qbs. It all falls back on evaluation

Mike Vick was far from “elite” in the traditional sense, I agree. He wasn’t very good passing but he was so dynamic running that he was considered “elite” because no one had ever seen anything like him at that point. That’s all I’m saying.

I think a bunch of guys who coach kids yakking about who they compare to is a bunch of guys yakking. You develop everybody and the talent emerges from the best. We like to complicate things.

The great QBs adjust to the adjustments that opposing DC’s craft against them. That’s why Kaepernick eventually failed...he didn’t. That’s what I was waiting for on Lamar Jackson. Mahomes, Russell Wilson etc keep advancing their games.
