What are they going to do?

I don't think anyone has to be traumatized or have their life impacted to in order to write something negative on a message board. My point is that if people have been around for a long time and have witnessed the good with the bad and stayed around through the last 12-13 years, that says a lot about them. I am disgusted with this program. It doesn't affect my daily life (only Saturdays). But I continue to be a fan. People can write negative things but I think it's more about people being worn out by what UT continues to roll out.
I would agree but I think we both know some of these guys are completely obsessed! I guess that’s the embarrassing part about it. I’ve been a Vol for 55 years so the ride has been really high and really low sometimes. Hopefully we’ll ride high again soon!

I can only speak for one miserable Vol fan and that is myself. I will be so happy to be winning that I will gladly pile up a plate of crow on the Volnation Buffett table, but CJP a beer and a steak, disavow all my negative comments, and just revel in being wrong.
Do you REALLY think we enjoy losing and losing badly? Seriously? We are negative because we DESPISE losing. I really don’t understand how some Vol fans continue to live with it year after year after year after year.

You should not have to disavow comments that were true at the time they were made or "eat crow". You will not be reveling in being wrong. You were right. We suck now and have sucked for years. That fact doesnt change if "one day" they dont suck. History doesnt get revised. This is happening. We will never get back these years to do over again with a "good team".

Not being mean OP, but what about if the season progresses like the last 3 games?

Man, I hope you're right. I do hope we start whipping tail ...
And ya know, I really, really, want Pruitt to succeed, I'm just finding it hard to believe right now.
I really doubt it goes like the last 3 games for the rest of the season. First, we are not going to play the 2 best teams in the country. Second we have not played as bad as it appears. We were in the game with Georgia until halfway through the 3 quarter. We actually dominated Kentucky at the line of scrimage most of the game, and they are not bad on the line of scrimage. We just gave the ball away and you aint winning giving the ball away 6 times. Alabama we had too many turnovers and we really played them as good as anyone so far. Really Georgia didn't really do any better than we did.
We are improving and trending in the right general direction.

I've been waiting 13 years for this. Still nothing. I got married and have had 3 children, 2 houses and 2 jobs in 2 different states since the last time Tennessee "whipped tail".
It's coming. It has been a disaster of a decade but it is coming.

I still remember several who dogged Rick Barnes. Made ridiculous comments. No where to be found under those screen names now. In my way of thinking why literally cry like a four year old on here day after day with some post that are hard to even read. I hope like crazy things turn around. Will they? IDK and they don't either. Looks rough right now. But why have all that negativity on record that can come back and make one look so foolish? If you're correct about all the negative things what does it prove? OK...you were right. But man, the payout if you are wrong will be huge! JMO....actually it's all kinda silly.
Do you remember when all you heard was "Barnes can't recuit." I still chuckle about that.

Speaking of people who aren't around anymore.

Where is dumbledorange? That Cmackmonkey guy or whatever his name is and the other people that said we will never play football and players will die if they played football.

Are they off at a crow buffet? Or wallowing in their own delusions?

You have to remember that OP's concept of "whipping tail" is getting moral victories in our losses, and actually beating Vanderbilt.

Legion of Miserables have been the only fans willing to take a realistic look at the program since 2009/2010. Legion of Miserables were right about Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, and looks like Pruitt.

There will be still plenty to complain about when the Vols are 9-3 and still getting blown out by Bama, georgia, and Florida but normie fans are like “the Vols are doing so amazing now!!!!”
I actually think fans would accept that...for a year or two. This fanbase would have been overjoyed last year if we beat Georgia St and BYU, but the outcome of the other games remained unchanged.

Better question is what are those with their heads buried in the sand going to do now? Can you seriously be "positive" about what we're seeing?

There are at least 3 camps. Negavols... a sometimes loud minority who truly won't be happy. Posivols... who think that refusing to see problems will make them go away.... a sometimes condescending minority. Realistic fans... who are willing to see both the positive and negative then reasonably discuss both/either.
I don't have my head in the sand. There are several things that anyone who understands the game beyond the scoreboard and that they don't like being smack talked at work when their team loses.

We are SEC quality and quantity on both sides of line of scrimage now.
We have many extremely talented young skill players come up.
We haven't had this kind of recuiting success in over a decade.

Okay, so I'm buying part of what you're selling.
If we can play (and that means get out of JG if he is the QB) the way we played 1st half of the UGA game, we'll likely win out.

The problem is, is JG still in the implosion that began 2nd half vs UGA. That implosion continued right into UK. Admittedly (as I have said in another thread) he played better (not good, but better) against Bama, and if he'd played that way against UK, we'd have won by 2 TD's.

The part I'm not buying is, we didn't play Bama as well as anyone. Ole Miss could almost do no wrong on offense vs Bama. The problem for Ole Miss was ... their defense is swiss cheese. I do agree that UGA didn't have any better success than we did against Bama.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm stuck on that UK debacle ... that's why I'm having a hard time believing what I believed whole heartedly preseason.
I'm not arguing with you by the way, I really do hope you're right, and I'll be jumping up and down in my living room watching.

I hate losing more than anyone. I live by the creed to never spend more than 10% your time complaining and control the controlables, don't worry about the uncontrolables.

It's not just the fact that JG is not a DI QB. This coaching staff has displayed a complete inability and/or unwillingness to adjust for the second half of the game.

We've seen it all three seasons under Pruitt. Decent first half, other team adjusts, we stick to our original plan, lose the game.

What are The Legion of Miserables going to do when we put it all together and start whipping tail? A lot of screen names will be changed that's for sure. I don't think the hardcore Negavols will be able to handle it and will become Georgia fans, the original Legion of Misery.

Dibs on “IwaswrongJGisthegreatestQBinUThistory”.

If that's the case and people are truly traumatized by following the Vols what does it say about them. If there's anything in my life that does that to me I would hope I'd have enough common sense to leave it alone. But I understand the point you're trying to make. Maybe I'm just wired differently.
I agree if it causes you that much torture then why fool with.

Let's see, the ones who are "miserable" are the ones tired if losing so I'd say all of us would be pretty ****ing happy. I just wonder how y'all that don't give a **** will react when other people are excited over results and not just hope.
