Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

As Pruitt has shown his stubborn attitude, I wouldn't be surprised if JG returned for a 6th year and Pruitt repeated again "he gives us the best chance for success" comment.

Look for scapegoats when the ship is going down. IIRC, That JG yank last week and then Shrout 20 yard out pattern interception on the first pass reeks "I told you so" to the JG pundits. Of course JG came back in.

I am not JG's biggest supporter, but he really wasn't the problem today.

The Pedo State vs Indiana game is whacko... I turned it off when Indy gave the ball to Pedo with about 1:20 to go in the 4th inside their own 20 and Pedo had a 21-20 lead.... now Indy wins 36-35 in OT.... I think lol... shades of Pig Howard vs. the leghumpers in 2014.

Not a total loss today. James Franklin can suck it.

True, he didn't have a game similar to last week. I believe today our OC had zero faith in JG until game was out of reach and he had no other option but to take him off the leash and let him sling it. The run/pass ratio early in the game was not balanced.

If the gameplan is to run the ball and play it safe, then why is JG in there? To check off to a screen when Alabama stacked the line, knowing JG wasn't going to beat them with his passing skills. To have an effective running game, a QB with a threat of a passing game must exist or you've become one dimensional and easily defended.

Part of Pruitt's stubborn attitude and refusing to learn from his mistakes.

At this point, find someone with a connection to our program. Former assistant, player, etc. At least the administration will get their money's worth from the hire, unlike some schmo from one of our rivals.

Well...no worries about Pruitt replacing Saban.
I think Chaney is becoming a liability as it seems he thinks we have Bray slinging it to Hunter an Moore. at times. Those OL man on man run schemes were gashing Bama's front at times

Yep, they were. Unfortunately our RB's were unable to get by the first defender and were taken down within a few yards past the LOS. There were a few plays I thought the RB was about to break into the secondary, but never happened. Which leads me to the next question. What has happened to S&C program? It's as if it has become non-existent for the past decade or longer, no matter who the HC is. God I miss John Stuckey.

There were a number of passing downs that the OL gave JG all the time he needed to pick an open receiver and he was unable to deliver.
I saw a few times he sat back there with zero pressure when Bama sent 4 or more.

He's a 5th year senior playing like a true sophomore who's had some decent practices and very few live snaps in games.

SOS, different year.

To another point, CP said our receivers are "real fast" in preseason camp. Other than that fly route by Hyatt, they sure dont get separation.

My day (all true):
Woke up sick
Got something in my eye while mowing (in eye for 5 hours)
Lost hydraulics on mower
Broke ratchet strap pulling it to trailer
Busted my tail light on truck
Broke come along getting mower on trailer
Car battery dead
Bama game.

What are you using for a mower? Rosemary's baby? You may need and exorcist.

smart move by Mccullogh get the targeting penalty early and get your ass thrown out of the game. Bright kid.

Can't figure out how he got by on that, but I'm glad he did. Nothing against making the game safer, but when the runner ducks down, it's hard to go lower and maintain directional mobility. The rules people need to lighten up a bit and give defenses a fighting chance again ... what should be holding by the OL (but by the rules isn't) is nuts. When the rules makers turn football into what basketball has become, I'm done. This is supposed to be a team sport with two distinct (offense and defense) components. We aren't seeing offensive geniuses; we're seeing anti-defense rules.

To me the targeting call should never have been made in the first place. The ball carrier wasn't defenseless; he clearly saw the defender and lowered his head to meet him. Also, to me, the ball carrier initiated helmet to helmet contact by being the first to lower he head. If penalties are based on the concept of safety, then call them both ways - there's nothing that says a defensive player is less destructible than an offensive player. The offensive player is the one setting the course of the play; the defenders are the ones playing a game of reaction - that's hard enough without rules benefitting the offense.

I think Pruitt is a good defensive coach...one of the top tier in the college game. Probably below average for the SEC in running a program, new and learning on the job. He needs to leave the offense alone, and if Chaney isn't a good enough coordinator to successfully run the offense on his own, then he needs to be replaced ASAP. Having seen Chaney run good offenses here and elsewhere in the past, I lean towards him still being capable...but Weinke needs to go...and I absolutely cannot FOR THE LIFE OF ME fathom why JG would ever take a single snap in this game or any this season for that matter....how can the coaches NOT figure out that regardless of how JG looks in practice,he is gonna suck in games.

How guys...how can they not already know that? If Maurer started today, I bet we lose by 14 or so and put up a good fight on both sides of the ball instead of losing by 31 points....again.

Said it before, if JG comes back next season and starts I will not attend or even watch UT football until JG or CJP are gone. He is so terrible in games...he can throw a deep post or "go" route down the sideline. Thats it. The only thing he can do....and all 3 other QBs can do the same. Smdh

I assume about the time Mauer came into the game that Bama was pulling starters, but Mauer can run, and he adds another dimension to the offense. He's the type QB we need - not another dole out the ball pro type.

Ok martial artists..... what kind of training do you think this guy has? My guess is Krav Maga or karate...... but that throw at the :12 mark could be jiu jitsu ..... or wrestling.

No video on linky. But Krav Maga isn’t really a general public self defense skill. It’s a purposefully born combat skill by its very nature it is designed to be lethal. So even without video I’d guess it’s not Krav Maga but maybe @Orangeslice13 has a more informed opinion on the style.

Video won’t play for me but you assessment is correct. There are guys that teach a less lethal style and still call it Krag Maga.
