Look...you are one of my favorite people on here..I am sick of tussling with you..so truce?
I never wanted to fight in the first place, so yeah, truce.

But just for the record, the reason I made the comments I did about Maurer is because I've suffered from depression for over 25 years. It's a medical condition, not a weakness. I take meds for it, Maurer probably does too. I've experienced the stigma associated with it first hand. I had friends who stopped being friends because of it. If you've witnessed it in family members, then I'm sure you know it's a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes it. It has an actual medical explanation. It is an actual medical illness. People wouldn't call him out if he had diabetes, or some other legit medical issue, so I just do not understand the need to treat depression differently. If he's receiving the proper medical attention, depression will not have an effect on his ability to QB.

And my comments weren't singling you out. They were legit to everyone downing the kid over his depression.

Peace, brother.

Well 2 have been unavailable so that leaves JG and Shrout. Chaney was able to get Nathan Peterman drafted — our Nathan Peterman who turned in the worst single game performance I’ve ever witnessed and who remained broken while he was here despite a sports psychologist also trying to bring him back around. And yet that same QB under Chaney beats Clemson and hands them their only loss when they were both at Pitt.

JG has has countless gurus and OCs and remained pretty much the same. His mental issues appear unfixable and the skill set he does have is limited because of that (it’s ironic given JG was rated as a top dual threat but Peterman had some wheels to help himself and his team out). Shrout has always been a project but he was available to practice and healthy.

Given all that I’m not sure it’s all Weinke’s fault. Had HB and Maurer been more available (uninjured and not in quarantine) it would be easier to blame him for our QB room. Also, I’m not sure he was the one that decided how reps would be split. Pruitt has some say here and I think he’s been ride or die with JG for far too long.
When Weinke got here, our QB room was in shambles. Three years later, our QB room is still in shambles. I get COVID happened, but it's hard not to ask why he hasn't made any progress in three years? It's hard not to hold him responsible. And I understand JG is uncoachable, but that being the case, why are we still trying to coach him? Weinke really should have been all in on preparing the other QBs.

I'm not really the bloodthirsty type. I crave stability for this program. I really think we benefit from consistency. But that said, I really think Weinke and Friend should be coaching for their jobs the rest of this season. Yes, we've underperformed across the board, but nowhere worse than QB, and I'm baffled how our OL, full of such promising talent, has struggled with pass protection and getting pushed around. It honestly worries me that we focus so much on recruiting the talent, yet we're struggling with developing the talent. End of the day, coaches need to be able to coach.

Just to clarify, not argue..high pressure, extremely stressful moments are usually what push my stepmom into bad episodes. She takes medication too, but she has still had some bad episodes sometimes.

Ok,ladies and gents (trying to putt a positive spin on this place), been out of the loop the last few days, any news of significance popped up lately? Coach named a starter at QB (should I even ask 🤣)?

So this is one of the worst in-season spots we've been in before a game in a while. We all know we have a huge problem and yet we don't know if we have a fix.

-JG has melted down one too many times.
-Shrout is still unknown but he's made poor decisions in limited samples.
-Maurer was reckless last season but he was also a spark plug for the whole team. BUT we don't know how prepared/injured he is.
-HB is a true freshman who has had no practice time. He threw some very good passes and one that could've been picked.
-We don't appear to have a WR/RB who can run the wildcat.

To top it off, all of this uncertainty comes when the opponent is Alabama...

We're going to test their run defense which hasn't been very special all year but we have speedsters at RB not bruisers and without a passing game, the run game can be shut down. Frankly, IDK how coaches are going to gameplan this one for our offense. Have they even had time to figure out what Maurer and Bailey can do this year? In hindsight, it's easy to see they didn't think JG would meltdown this badly and planned our season around a very boring 'protect the ball' offense with the defense picking up the slack. That has clearly backfired but do they press on with that strategy and the same QB or even a new QB (same strategy) or do they open things up and go in a new direction?
All true, but really...were we any better off heading into the game last year? We were OFF the rails this time headed to Bama too.
