Well my friend if every team had those same feelings then there would never be an upset in sports. All I'm saying players need to always have the belief that when they step on the field they have a chance to win. Don't defeat yourself before you even play.
I think you're misunderstanding what I was saying. My point was as a player you have to have the attitude we can win every game no matter who we play. Nothign to do with how they play or how some players play, just mental attitude.Again, really easy to say, but when dozens of players give their all to win only to watch a single player or players just give away any chance they had to win, even the strongest people will fold because they know their hard work is all for nothing.
Its one thing to have a prima-donna running back or wideout causing problems on your team. But its devastating when the issue is your QB and none of the other QBs are capable of stepping up. Its the perfect definition of a lost cause.
Not JG fault, he is all in and gives 100% for the Vols, the problem is Pruitt has not been able to recruit & developed an SEC caliber QB, and JG is simply not capable no matter how hard he tries. It makes no sense to recruit these young QB and not develop them, which should include getting them so game time so they can step in when needed.
Why are these QB on scholarship when he apparently has bet the farm on JG, which is a huge mistake. If these guys are not able to beat out JG for the job, then they are not SEC qb either. JG is at best an average to below average qb and Pruitt should have recognized this much sooner and pulled out all the stops to get an experienced guy to come in.
I believe that we do have our guy with Harrison Bailey, the guy is a 5 star qb, ranked #3 qb in the national class, and he should be taking tons of snaps in practice with the first team, or at least splitting the work with JG so a smooth transition can be made, but Pruitt is like all JG and now he is stuck with no one ready to replace JG, and that is totally on Pruitt.
PLEASE explain that!
But do you realize Bama has one of the worst defenses they've ever had this year?? They've not been good on Defense in 3 years now. If we had Peyton with all the skill talent we have we beat Bama. Because our defense this year IS MUCH better than people realize. And Bama's offense won't just throw up 45 on them. Not even 40.
The bold is just a matter of opinion and I’d argue that every qb has a “fit” that suits them best to get their full potential. I’ll give you an example. JG “fits” what Pruitt wants to do. Therefore Pruitt is a good “fit” to get the best out JG. Spencer Rattler is a good “fit” for Riley and therefore he’ll reach his full potential. Two totally different coaches= two totally different qbs. I may agree that it’s possibly not the right fit for Shrout and Maurer but that all depends on how much Pruitt wants to change himself.Actually in his second full recruiting class he signed a five star QB but because of the COVID crap he didn’t get spring practice or summer workouts and then missed the first two weeks of fall practice due to contact tracing protocol. Buts he’s had six weeks of practice with the team now and will be seeing more playing time as the year moves forward.
In terms of QB development you have to have the personnel and the time to develop anyone. You can water a rock and it still won’t grow and that’s where we are with JG. The other two guys also missed spring practice and summer work outs and one (M) is still injured (and based on the multiple concussions from last season probably shouldn't be playing). Neither JG, S nor M offer us any shot at being more than mediocre- regardless of who coaches them.
Missouri but I've lived from SC to Washington State. I get contacts from recruiters occasionally. Some are looking for engineers. They're not all in Missouri. My company operates in the Midwest and has openings from time to time too.@sjt18 Where are you located?

You just say stuff sometimes because you think it will make sense. I've done this myself admittedly....

And JG is the answer to minimize the embarrassment? Did you happen to see this past week’s game?I think the goal this week should be to survive with minimal national embarrassment on CBS. With off week coming up, I'd expect a TON of QB reps for 2's/3's, and probable more action in second half of season.

And for the record, he only had ONE concussion that he came back too soon from.
Does Brian have an ongoing hamstring/knee issue, or is that being overblown? The bold is just a matter of opinion and I’d argue that every qb has a “fit” that suits them best to get their full potential. Pruitt spoke at the podium before an evaluation had been determined. So he spoke too soon and people/reporters and fans took it literal. If he were concussed vs Miss St it’s only natural to think his injury was still there vs Alabama.I don’t think JG fits anything other than having far more experience- nothing personal against him but he can’t process the game at SEC speed and that’s not something he can ever be coached up on.
You may be right on Maurer but it was reported that he had concussions in back to back games against Mississippi State and Bama. But my opinion is that neither he nor Shrout will ever be elite. Bailey is in his seventh week of practice - going into the bye week he should be the focus.
You don't know that because JG can't consistently get the ball to them consistently.97 Peyton would obviously do much better than JG is doing now, but he doesn't have Marcus Nash, Jermaine Copeland, and Peerless Price to throw to. Other than Palmer, we're very mediocre at wide receiver, so I'm not sure what skill talent you're referring to.
Maurer doesn’t mirror Aaron Rodgers playstyle.... at allPruitt spoke at the podium before an evaluation had been determined. So he spoke too soon and people/reporters and fans took it literal. If he were concussed vs Miss St it’s only natural to think his injury was still there vs Alabama.
And you’re entitled to that opinion. I would just argue that many people had the same opinion of Aaron Rodgers as well and Brian’s playing style mirrors his.

I say Marcus Nash, Joey Kent, or Peerless Price wouldn't be what they were with JG at QB..
