I would like to see Bailey play the whole game. Also, people are hating on Baileys 4th down throw. It was bad. However, in a normal game situation that drive gets 3 points.

Bailey comes out next drive and feels better after a semi successful drive and has confidence. I say play him let him take his licks before we play Arkansas two weeks from now.

Thought process, yes he might struggle or he might look spectacular, but he gains even more experience with in game action against a good Defense and is able to study his own tape prior to the Arkansas game.

I want to believe that, then I think of GSU, BYU, and KY.
GSU don't mean a damn thing other than a first time coach making the mistake of using a real game as a evaluation practice..and BYU was a fluke loss. If we played either of those teams late in the year we would have won by 4TDs...

Also...why not accentuate the positive of an eight game winning streak despite having a swiss cheese roster full of extremely young players? You guy jeep harping on that stupid freak UK score, and I will keep saying how stupid it is to not actually look at it in context.

Imagine no TOs, and then imagine that instead of TOs we actually score at least a TD and a FG when we were actually moving the ball..so instead of a deflated team basically playing hopelessly through the second half, you have a team in a dogfight to win against a solid team..

Suddenly that game is a win and not a historic loss..

One player...ONE freakin player wass that difference..that is progress from two years ago when it was half the damn team.

Yet Pruitt keeps putting him out there. We're not talking just one bad game, yet Pruitt continues to play him. My point being, it's easy to be mad at the player, but Coach shares in the blame. He knows there's a problem and it's gone unfixed. People aren't screaming for his head, they're screaming for him to fix the situation and right the boat. Yet he keeps making excuses for JG. That's the really frustrating part. Rather than fixing the leak, he keeps telling us the ship isn't really sinking. He has to move on from JG.
Thats the thing though..after this year...that is over. Only a weird QB situation is the difference between a really solid team and what happened last Saturday.

Who kept that player on the field, despite 3 turnovers in the second half of the UGA game? That's what people are harping on, McGill. That's a coaching decision that is getting rightfully questioned. I get that we're thin at the position, but again, that falls on coaching. Not screaming for Pruitt's head, but I am screaming for him to find a solution to a known problem. That's what coaches do.

UGA’s talent is also better now than it was then. Butch’s first year was 2013 so we’ll start with 2009 UGA recruiting rank:

2009 - 4th
2010 - 11th
2011 - 7th
2012 - 9th
***Butch hired Dec 2012***
2013 - 12th
2014 - 8th
2015 - 6th
***Kirby hired Dec 2015***
2016: 6th
2017: 3rd
***Pruitt hired Dec 2017***
2018: 1st
2019: 2nd
2020: 1st
And yet...with all that...and a black hole at QB...we still gave them a game..

Agree. As doom and gloom as people have been the last couple weeks the only real difference is turnovers.

Take care of the football/limit penalties and we’re a good football team. Not great, but plenty capable to compete with the rest of the SEC.

Granted we have to go out and win the turnover battle, but we’re not in as bad of shape as people are making it out to be. Still a way better team than the last few years, and it’s evident we’re on the right track.

It should be over now, but I doubt it is. You don't keep going back to something that's not working, yet we do.

It's hard to argue with Albert Einstein.

It is ONE dang player...and a really weird situation. Shrout is what he always was...an extreme project, Maurer is injury prone and has legitimate mental sickness..which leave HB..

HB is a true freshman in a year with no freakin practice...come on for gosh sake just acknowledge that there are reasons...not excuses...reasons...for playing JG...who until the third quarter of the UGA game was playing solid ball.

That's right, it is one player, who continues to see the field after poor performance. Whose fault is it that he continues to see the field? You can blame JG for his performance, but you cannot seem to accept Pruitt continues to play him despite poor performance. A coach's job is to fix problems, yet we have not fixed our most obvious problem, the one we've had since Pruitt took over. That's what people are mad about. Now, I agree people screaming for Pruitt's head are going too far, but screaming for accountability for a baffling decision to keep playing the weakest link is part of the job. There is no reason to keep running head first into a brick wall. It makes no sense.

True at every position but QB. That's where all the angst is coming from. That's also the one glaring problem that continues to go unaddressed by the coaching staff.

But we didn't. And it doesn't change the FACT we shouldn't have lost to them.

Name one good team we beat. Not even elite, just good. And not only that, it wasn't even 8 unique teams. FWIW, Mizzou and USC are counted twice.

If's, but's, etc...It's been 15 years of that crap. At some point we need to accept the fact that the scoreboard is what it is.

I want to believe in Pruitt. I really really do. I want to believe he is our Dabo and all he needs is time. I want to eat crow here.

But wanting to and reading the writing on the wall are two different things.

We aren't anywhere even approaching close to the UGAs and Bama's and now we have KY beating in Neyland worse than anything we've seen in the last 80 years.

One player...ONE freakin player wass that difference..that is progress from two years ago when it was half the damn team.

JG was a huge part of the KY loss, no doubt. But the rest of the team quit too. That is a direct indictment on Pruitt. And its a BIG one.

It wasn't just one player. The OL, the coaching, the scheming, everything...was ugly that game. That game showed serious organizational issues.

without over thinking ? insert larry david faint gif

for all his accolades Chaney hasnt called a good game yet this year. i think hes a really good OC
well, i think in the USCe game, the play calling wasn't the issue, he was aggressive early...we missed on A LOT of throws in that game....dialed it back.

MO, i think was really, really good...that game we executed much better in the passing game....likely because we really executed well in the run game.

UGA..........i didn't think it was "bad". though there was a stretch in the 3rd qtr where we tried repeatedly to beat UGA to the edges on consecutive plays and lost yardage or no gain...and i didn't understand that at all....then once the turnovers started, hard to "call" your way out of a disaster.

UK........that game was not due to play calling....

my only critique of Chaney, and it's really the same one i had when he was here the 1st time is that at times he seems to get impatient, and when he does, he dials up a low % play down field....i don't get terribly upset about it because i don't mind being aggressive, or showing confidence in your players......but sometimes, it's ok to get 3-4 yards on 1st or 2nd down...and keep the ball moving.....like with Shrout's pick...not sure that play call was warranted at that point in the game. settle the kid in a bit.....lol.

@Ulysees E. McGill

If JG starts against Bama, what's your feeling if he plays poorly? Is that on the player? Or is it on the coach who continues to play him after two prior consecutive poor performances? I think it's a legit question. I really want Pruitt to get this right, but if JG goes out there and craps the bed again, I'll be pissed. I can handle losing, but I can't handle losing by making the same mistake over and over again.

People have said it multiple times this week. Let’s see what it looks like after the bye week before people start losing their minds.

The coaching staff has shown on multiple occasions that they aren’t afraid to make a change, despite what people keep regurgitating. I’m pretty confident we’ll see that when we play Arkansas.

I won't personally get concerned until Arky.

And the least respected HC hire in the SEC in the offseason was who? Pittman. Wonder why really good coordinators would go to work for him in Arkansas of all places? Guess they didn't check with all of media pundits and expert fans first. Two coordinators who are proven to not need elite talent to win a lot of games. If Arky did not get the usual SEC officials' screwing against Auburn, they would be 3-1 against the SEC today. All in Pittman's first season following three straight bottom feeder seasons and no SEC wins for the previous two seasons.
well.....................let's not pretend timing wasn't a factor here.

Barry Odom was newly fired, and available.................
and Briles......well, we all know the story behind that.....and that could still blow up in their face...

i'm not ready to say this is all due to Pittman and his abilities to recognize coaching talent.............lol. he took over the worst program in the SEC, and they weren't really in position to tell him "no" on who he could hire.....

anyway, they're both good hires. and like i said, early returns this year are they hit home runs with the staff change.....

that can change pretty quickly though....lol.

Because it’s going to be a problem no matter what we do against bama, and your setting up Maurer/Bailey for failure if your throwing them out there with limited reps. If you want to throw Shrout out there that’s fine. Or, if Bailey/Maurer have been able to get more reps than the coaching staff/media have been letting on them I’m all for giving them a shot.

I just don’t believe in putting a guy out there to take his lumps/try something different. If he’s prepared then I’m all for it, but doesn’t sound like they are with Maurer’s injury/quarantine and Bailey having half a fall practice under his belt.

It is what it is this week. Hope we can establish the run/slow the game down and JG plays like he did first half of Georgia. If we can prepare a young guy for a scripted series or two then that’s great, but I don’t think they’re prepared for a full game script.

All IMO.... I think they don’t trust BM at all. He was out of fall camp for two weeks for contact tracing too. So they probably focused on JG and Shrout more. Plus he has been dealing with major personal issues so I don’t think they ever viewed him as the future of the program. They probably thought JG could be serviceable for this year and then let Bailey and Salter battle it out next year. But they should have had an emergency plan because we all knew that JG could go off the deep end at any moment and Shrout is not the answer. I think they have enacted the emergency plan with the Sunday scrimmages and are getting Bailey and BM ready now.
all reasons why the off season QB competition was going to be so critical to this year's success....agree on the scrimmages.

This is not to be preachy, I get crazy about things on here sometimes. I see a lot of frustrated posters and rightfully so. The talk all preseason on UT was the team would go as far as the QB would take them. Here we are. See what happens from here. As for the other stuff, I read on here a kid battling cancer, family members suffering from either Covid or the fallout from the lockdowns, family members battling alcoholism. I have two sons, one serving as an officer in the military and one serving God in the Middle East. Saturday I will sit in a comfortable chair in comfortable room eating comfort food and watch the greatest game ever invented on a nice, big screen TV. On Sunday I will worship my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hope the Vols win, hope we get back to the top of the game, but for me it's a matter of priorities. Again, not preaching to anyone, just throwing out my perspective on things.

If you have a leak in your basement, does it become a problem that needs to be fixed immediately, or does it become problem in two weeks when your basement is completely flooded?
depends, you got insurance for it? if so, do it now.

if not, do the best you can with it until you have enough to cover the permenant fix....................

Every program likes Odom at first and he really has success at first. Then they get to know him.
