Also, I just thought about this, but 2 of the most successful new coaches are o line coaches. Pittman has made Arky look decent so far and Cristobal has placed Oregon in a good spot. It just goes to show the importance of having a good coach at that position.

Jury is still out on Arkansas, but Pittman was smart to hire good coordinators and let them coach. Odom is doing a heck of a job scheming that D with average athletes.

Not to mention, Briles puts Franks in easy reads that he can execute quickly.

it doesn't get talked about much...but you can make a case, based on the early returns, that arkansas hit home runs on both coordinators........

without over thinking ? insert larry david faint gif

for all his accolades Chaney hasnt called a good game yet this year. i think hes a really good OC

You underestimate the machine that Bama has built. Saban is only the tip of the iceberg. A decent coach who commands respect from his subordinates can jump into that seat and sustain it.
Saban is the GOAT. Whoever takes over after him will be a step down.

Yep. Blake Toppmeyer is also a cuck who can only ask hack questions that clearly piss off the person they’re interviewing. Pruitt would drag his face across the pavement if he met him in an alley. Blake gets on my nerves worse than any of them. Maybe even Jimmy or Gustavo
You'll like this story then.

When they came down for the bowl game here in Jax and announced where they would practice, I inquired with some of the folks I know in media for times and all that. They told me but said they weren't supposed to tell me but I wanted to show my 4 year old the Vols in person and maybe have him meet some. Side note: JG was very nice as was Trey Smith.

Well one of the UT football guys asked how I found out about the time. Knowing I wasn't supposed to be there, I wasn't gonna rat out the folks I know so I dead ass looked into this dudes eyes and said "Blake Toppmeyer".

I keep seeing you guys say that you’ll think BM will get a shot this weekend but didn’t Pruitt just say today that he’s been dealing with a nagging leg/hamstring injury?

But but but but but JG.

It’s almost like......there are reasons the staff makes the decisions they do. Wild.

All things considered I think this staff would only play BM in lieu of Geronimo IF he could go. Shgrooooot is likey not gonna come in unless the wheels fall off.

Hahahahaha git sum !!! You just brought me so much joy

Ummmmm.....Florida maybe. Georgia I don’t think so.maybe the same but it’s close.I’d definitely take Georgia’s QB and RB situation back then verses now

In the first 3 years of Butch's tenure UGA went 8-5, 10-3 and 10-3 (72%). In Pruitt's they're 11-3, 12-2 and 3-1 this year (84%). Not as big a change as UF but I'd argue they've gone from a good SEC team when Butch was here to a national title contender now.

It’s just getting old piling on the dude. He comes to the same barbershop I go to, along with some of the linebackers & corners. I’ve had a really awesome opportunity to meet some of them along with a few of the guys from the basketVols team. If they knew a tenth of the venom and sh** that was talked about them on these msg boards they’d roam the streets looking for some of y’all. Good thing they don’t care lol. JG is actually a really nice dude and all, though. He knows where he’s failed but he is still a kid & is human. He bleeds orange and for sure loves the university.

It's a message board. To discuss Tennessee football, which happens to include the players on the team. Nobody is saying JG is a bad guy. And most acknowledge it's not his fault that he's bad. It's on the coaches for lack of development or unwillingness to move on from him. JG just is what he is. He doesn't have it and never will. It doesn't mean we think he doesn't try or bleed orange. One thing is obvious though - he isn't a leader, and that is a pretty important trait of a successful QB.

Thanks for your post. We should be careful how we talk about these student athletes as people. They are not just players

It's not JG's fault he starts every week and has humiliating performances at times. That's on Jeremy. But JG chose to act offended in front of the entire viewing audience in games when he was pulled for some of his "moments". Call it immaturity or whatever, however, it did make him fair game for criticism. Fans pay the bills for players and coaches. No fans, nobody gets interested in the sport, no money. Criticism is just part of the landscape.

When did he act “offended”?

UGA’s talent is also better now than it was then. Butch’s first year was 2013 so we’ll start with 2009 UGA recruiting rank:

2009 - 4th
2010 - 11th
2011 - 7th
2012 - 9th
***Butch hired Dec 2012***
2013 - 12th
2014 - 8th
2015 - 6th
***Kirby hired Dec 2015***
2016: 6th
2017: 3rd
***Pruitt hired Dec 2017***
2018: 1st
2019: 2nd
2020: 1st

I'm sure JG is a great dude, but that doesn't mean he should be playing on Saturdays. His performance argues he shouldn't. I'm against personal attacks on the kid, but his performance is fair game. Any players performance is fair game. And JG's struggles are very well documented. The fact that Pruitt keeps trotting him out there is what has myself, and most other Vol fans concerned. It's a problem that continues to go unaddressed, which is why coaching gets questioned. We all want Pruitt and this staff to succeed, but when you watch the same mistake being made again and again and again, it's only natural to question. Every game with JG has become a question of "when will he fall apart?" I feel really bad for the kid, but as a player, he is who he is. I don't wish bad things for him as a person, but as a player, he shouldn't be seeing the field, not after all the mistakes he's made.

I think BM is fine. They said he was scout QB for KY for his running ability.
If that’s the case, then what’s the hold up? Kid def has a gunslinger moxy and legs to go with it! if he doesn’t have a full grasp on the playbook, it can’t be worse than the statue that keeps getting the starts.

it doesn't get talked about much...but you can make a case, based on the early returns, that arkansas hit home runs on both coordinators........

And the least respected HC hire in the SEC in the offseason was who? Pittman. Wonder why really good coordinators would go to work for him in Arkansas of all places? Guess they didn't check with all of media pundits and expert fans first. Two coordinators who are proven to not need elite talent to win a lot of games. If Arky did not get the usual SEC officials' screwing against Auburn, they would be 3-1 against the SEC today. All in Pittman's first season following three straight bottom feeder seasons and no SEC wins for the previous two seasons.

That is nice and all, but being a one man wrecking crew against your own team will do that...sucks but true. I hate it for him too, but dang....quit spotting the other team 14-20 points a game and just be solid.
Yet Pruitt keeps putting him out there. We're not talking just one bad game, yet Pruitt continues to play him. My point being, it's easy to be mad at the player, but Coach shares in the blame. He knows there's a problem and it's gone unfixed. People aren't screaming for his head, they're screaming for him to fix the situation and right the boat. Yet he keeps making excuses for JG. That's the really frustrating part. Rather than fixing the leak, he keeps telling us the ship isn't really sinking. He has to move on from JG.

All IMO.... I think they don’t trust BM at all. He was out of fall camp for two weeks for contact tracing too. So they probably focused on JG and Shrout more. Plus he has been dealing with major personal issues so I don’t think they ever viewed him as the future of the program. They probably thought JG could be serviceable for this year and then let Bailey and Salter battle it out next year. But they should have had an emergency plan because we all knew that JG could go off the deep end at any moment and Shrout is not the answer. I think they have enacted the emergency plan with the Sunday scrimmages and are getting Bailey and BM ready now.
