He’s not wrong and it makes sense. Unless you grew up enjoying it there is little reason to be anything other than a casual fan that might watch a couple games a year, if that.

Our ceiling is not what it was in the 90’s. That era is over and I don’t see it coming back. We are a 8-9 win program with a 10 win season every once in awhile. The last 15 years of management have effectively killed this program from what it once was.

Imo cycles come with coaches. Bama will cycle down when saban retires

Florida will cycle down is DM goes to the nfl and if Miami and or FSU get cycled up.
No, they will pay another proven commodity and never miss a beat. At least that's the way it looks like it will go.

Yep. I don’t even know how long McElwain was at UF but he had a short lease. He even won the East like twice or something and still got canned. Then they go out and get Mullen who is a proven winner. If he doesn’t win they will get the next guy.

If Pruitt wins the East here once he probably gets a 5 year extension and raise. We just aren’t even in the same discussion. Bama and UGA are in a different universe.

Whoever they get that person will fail to sustain the status quo.

And I am damn ready to see it
You underestimate the machine that Bama has built. Saban is only the tip of the iceberg. A decent coach who commands respect from his subordinates can jump into that seat and sustain it.

Why? Cause they did such a good job of it before?
Because since the days of SMU we haven't seen a machine built like Bama, Ohio St, GA and a couple of others have put together. Except now there no governing body with the power to do anything about it and even the playing field. The conferences hold the power, the NCAA is dying and the conferences are more than happy with the status quo. Nothing is going to change any time soon.

Outside of one good year at LSU Saban was fairly pedestrian at every other stop.

The Bama program is a self licking ice cream cone now. An above average coach can go there and win a few SEC titles and probably at least one NC. Hell, the Alabama Sports HOF is across the street from the SEC offices.

Bama had a bunch of misses at head coach before"winding up"with Saban.

There's no evidence that says they'll sustain anything when he leaves.

There'll be a window where the new guy will get to coach 2 Saban built teams where there will be an opportunity to sustain.

It's not a guarantee.

I'm depressing myself. My daughter cares nothing about this program. She told me the other day she doesn't like Tennessee or football because it makes me miserable. I love the game and this team, I'll never turn my back in it completely but I think her perspective on it really got me thinking. Maybe I need to step back. Not watch anymore. I Purposefully missed the KY game, first one in years. I probably won't watch this weekend either. Too much to do around the farm to waste on a foregone conclusion. But even if I'm working I'll listen, just in case they make a game of it..... And the cycle continues at the lowest low, hope springs eternal.

I hate this, for the fans, the program, the players.

Same. I’ll always be a Tenn fan until I die. Memories of going to games when I was kid with my grandfather and growing up in the Knoxville area. I will always love this program.

But this weekend, I’m not going to subject myself to it. I’m just not. Screw the Bammers, gators, and dawgs. Im too emotionally involved to watch us constantly lose to these guys. We aren’t even competitive anymore. It’s depressing and not worth it. The UT management have taken advantage of this fan base and sucked all the fun out of it.

This will be 14 in a row to Bama. SMH. It’s ridiculous.

In looking over player threads in the RF it looks as if this staff is focusing on laying the groundwork for next year. Probably a solid strategy. Hang on to what you got and maybe add one or two more pieces if you can close.
