Any word from practice on QB reps

Who said we were stacked at QB? We have depth yes but we wrent anyehere close to being stacked.

Pulaski said MANY times that UT had the "best QB room in the SEC". I think pretty much everyone else recognized that JG was mediocre at very best.

Shrout and Maurer likely wouldnt start at any ither SEC school besides maybe Vandy. Bailey is a FR. Look at the offer lists out of HS between all of our QBs. Its startling.

I believe Maurer would have a good chance to start now or next year at several SEC schools.

Shrout does not appear to be coming along in the head part of the game. I hope that's wrong... but this is his 3rd year and he didn't put a guy in motion then threw into coverage.

I read Pruitt held an OFFENSE ONLY scrimmage to work on fundamentals and techniques.

He had a hamstring injury but is healthy now...CJP said the injury put him behind as far as reps and playbook, but he was working to catch up. He has dressed and traveled for every game.

The mental stuff is nothing. It was depression awareness month, and the kid sought to bring light to that for others struggling with depression by him talking about it. He simply said he had dealt with depression before and had suicidal thoughts in his past....this is right after he got to play in 4 games for us, and did well for a rookie. The kid is fine, and should only be judged based on his play....there was some BS misinformation spread saying that HE was suicidal or attempted it...BOTH are false.

If college and professional teams benched or dropped guys who suffered from depression at some point... there would be a lot of turnover.

But he hates Maurer. I've seen a few here that I thought crossed the line with JG into hate. I don't hate him. I actually sympathize with him. I feel bad for him. He just isn't the QB UT needs.

Do you really think k-town will be "happy" if Maurer plays well? Do you think he will come here and say he was wrong?

I sincerely wish I were saying, "I was wrong about JG" right now.

Maurer is the only one who has shown that he has the balls to handle a beat down. Therefore I think he should start. JG should come off the bench if needed and in the 4th quarter when the game slows down Bailey should get some reps.

Then the next 2 weeks should be spent preparing a Maurer + Bailey gameplan. We finish the season with a 2 QB system[/QUO

jg should not see the field in another game at ut. But he will Sat. and going forward also according to pruitt

I agree with all but jg coming back in. He does not need to play another down at ut, except for injury. Use the other 3 we have and give them all a fair chance, you don't pull a qb for throwing 1 int. Let one or all 3 of the others compete and go with the best of the 3.

With a good qb, of course we have a good shot. Like if we had started another qb from game one they would be ready for sat. So since we didn't we have a very small chance with a different qb. We have no chance with jg

I would rather see Maurer than Shrout. I think that creates a real competition and contrast.

IMHO, I think HB would pretty quickly dispense with Shrout. I know... I know... My confidence was once growing in him. I LOVE a big arm. But watching that INT and then Pruitt saying that he forgot to put a man in motion too... I just wonder if he will ever catch up.

Shrout did not look good Sat, but he has looked good at times, you don't just write him off cause of one series of plays. Jg would have been gone a long time ago if you went by a series of bad plays on one series of plays.

A player; if he has been able to stay in good physical condition, one week is ample in his second year. that is if he gets the reps in practice this week.

All the player needs to do is not fumble three times and throw a pick in one quarter or, lose a fumble and throw two pick sixes in one quarter and things are looking up!

If either of these two transfer, and get the prep time needed, they will both be very good qb. You have to understand, we have used our time working with qb to one person and that is jg, from everything I have read. It was stated; even with covid, Bailey has been in 15 practices, but had only 10 snaps.

Well, since I argued FOR Dobbs to start over Peterman and appreciated what Dobbs did as QB... yeah, you're going to have to prove that.

Dobbs was smart and a terrific leader. He was a great runner. He was a clutch player. He was a "good" passer with a very strong arm. He was not "accurate in the strike zone". That was my only lasting criticism of him. Nothing personal... he just missed a lot of YAC's by making catches difficult.

Yes. Losing spring and most of the fall really sucked for HB and Maurer.

Maurer did provide a spark at times last year but he’s the closest thing we have to a “backyard” quarterback. He’s not very polished and I don’t believe the coaches trust him to put the team in the best situations for an entire game. Injuries aside, I don’t think he’ll ever command the helm of this team for a full season. No disrespect to the kid at all because they did rally behind him at times but heck, they woulda honestly rallied behind uncle Rico if he was better than JG.

Well its bound to. He was the only one hurt.

He seems determined on his social media accounts. Indicates that he knows he has a shot to get out on the field.

On instagram he put a picture of him in black and white "god forbid if someone try me I'm turning this into a crime scene"

Twitter cover photo is a screenshot of someone calling out his competitive spirit after he said in the off-season that JG would probably be the starter.

All those things have happened since Saturday.
