Might be in the minority, but I'd like to see Jabari take some snaps from Chandler.

You'd never know he's the fastest RB on the roster with how hesistant he always looks when he's running the rock.

Praying we see some Beckwith this weekend.

I wonder if small is healthy enough to play

Shrout didn't help himself Saturday, but I doubt going into the week he expected to be on the field after JG threw 2 pick 6s and your down 14 either. Im sure he felt the urgency like everybody did at the time. He made a mistake. Im good with giving him a week to know he's playing and preparing for such. If he can't handle that you move.

Im generally not a fan of playing 2 from the sense we re going to do it for awhile. But in this case its a game by game deal. Im just ready to see the effort and time put into someone else. The offseason didn't allow it.
As you said at the end, what we been doin aint workin.

I agree with this. I don't think Shrout's truly been given a "shot" with a full/open playbook yet in his career. It seems every time he's had a shot it's either been for a series (or two) or in trash time. I don't know how he could ever feel comfortable, or get into a rhythm at QB. Most of the time he's been in, it's been to hand the ball off. In the very, very limited time I've seen where he's had a chance to throw the ball (absent last weekend), I liked his ability to get the ball out quickly--even if his accuracy was a tad off (again I refer to the limited time he's had to get into the swing of things in a live game). If you are not going to play JG, don't play JG. Just ride with what you have and give your QB a chance to prove himself, over a quarter, half, game, but not just one possession.

nope, it's not. and im not saying that would be all together different, results wise either.

anyway, i think shrout should have come in last week with no pressure whatsoever. the hole is already dug, you didn't dig it, so you don't have to worry about doing badly. just go play.

maybe he didn't get a ton of help from the play call? it was still just a terrible decision to throw it where he did.....lol.

i'm still a little curious on why maurer didn't get any run.............i think he's the one that gave us the most "spark" last year....if he can stay healthy, who knows?

i don't know. we have 4 QB's for 1 spot and none of them instil the greatest amount of confidence right now.

they're probably plyaing "enie menie miney moe" in the offensive coaches meetings right now.

that's fine, and i can't argue that for obvious reasons.

but lots of good coaches have inexplicable losses on their resume....early in your career, you have a little leeway. i'm fine giving it. even as bad as that was. and you had the well documented "bounce back" performances from the mid way point on....so they redeemed themselves with the finish last season imo.

the problem is if we continue to see stuff like that, hence my belief that peformances like Saturday were in the rear view.

they should be. apparently they're not. ugh.
It makes me feel better to remember that Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe. Doesn’t take the sting or embarrassment away but it does bring a smile to my face 😉

It would be one of the most Volunteer things that's ever happened, we would get our hopes built up and likely never win another game this season.

I would likely cry tears of joy, I won't lie
I would dread the biggest dang hangover of all time. Well after I quit rolling and laughing.

yeah, and i remember when that happened, we were all thinking "hahahah...Saban ain't so scary now is he?"
oof.

of course, it's not an "If/then" either.....you'd prefer to just not have the bad losses.......................................................................................................

They weren’t prepared for it. They didn’t have a plan for what to do and it showed.

Now that the game is over they can regroup and say we have done this before and it’s going to work again to their team. Doesn’t really matter if they believe it will work or not.
Mind tricks to get a locker room to buy in and since it worked before it’s easier to sell them on it imo

Dont buy that.
He got pulled at UF. And didn't get the job back until UK. And it wasn't because he didn't get a chance on the field in between. He then got pulled again in the bowl game. Its not like this was the first or second time the decision had to be pondered.

Eventually the players (who aren't stupid) are going to ask, "why are you having to sell us on doing this again?" That roller coaster gets old once. Twice?

2019 and 2020 are not the same.

Patience is going to be required with the change. Its not going to result in immediate success.

Its not an excuse but a fact, the covid offseason took early options away. Now we are playing catch up.

Im just out of patience with what we ve tried.

He threw a duck. I don't know if the ball slipped from his hand or what, but it was a definite wobbler. And I think the pressure was very much on him. He may not have dug the hole, but he was being asked to dig us out of it. At that point, we weren't considered out of the game yet. I think there was still a very real expectation we could come back. Again, losing to KY in Neyland just doesn't happen. That was the mentality IMO. Only it did happen. One TO and he's yanked. It took 3 to get JG yanked, and that's not counting the 3 in the second half of the UGA game. I'm not saying Shrout's the answer, but I am saying it's not like he got a legit shot in comparison.

If I’m Pruitt, I’m starting Maurer against Bama (supposedly was scout team qb to simulate KY QB) and have JG be backup. If Maurer is terrible at half, then see what JG can do. Maybe Maurer lights it up or keeps us competitive and we see a different team. Then with the bye week, give all the reps for QB to Bailey and Maurer. They are your 1 and 2 going forward. IMO....

Anyone think Holliday plays some QB?

Bama & Saban are notorious for not doing well against a running QB. Wonder if he could give us a wrinkle, he may be the fastest guy on the team.
Nope. I thought we were going to throw the kitchen sink at Georgia and it was the same offense.... He would have been perfect to try a few wildcat snaps.
