UK Loss- A Program Loss

Well UK isn't the UK of old and had a lot of returning players this year. A loss to them wasn't out of the question, even predicted by some in the media before the year started. Getting hammered by them leaves a mark/ stain on Pruitt's tenure here. The blowout losses during his time have become a red flag. Too many times this team just looked unprepared to play a football game..

Let's look at this game only... I think they were ready to play until JG pulled his not unusual performance. As I said in an earlier post I this most of the team just thought "what the hell" he can get us out of this mess so what the hell"...

You may be right, but part of "getting a team ready to play" means instilling the ability to overcome adversity. "Put on more steam" in the General's parlance. Clearly this team finds it very difficult to overcome adversity.

That said, coaches can only do so much to instill mental toughness. The players have to buy into it and generate it within themselves. It should be a key consideration in recruiting. "Has this player been in a situation in high school or elsewhere in life, where he had to overcome a bad situation."

"So it’s a one-season streak of doing what you absolutely have to do at UT to even start thinking about relevance. Stoops, who has recruited and instilled winning DNA at UK far beyond what seemed possible there for decades, won’t be conceding anything. And for all of UT’s dominance in this series, Stoops is 2-2 since getting rolled by way-more-talented Butch teams in his first four tries. Imagine him with a quarterback." Joe Rexrode, The Athletic

Sadly, this is the state of a once-proud football program. Trying to compete with UK. Hell, even Arkansas looks better than the Vols at this point.

Can anyone disagree with the fact that Arkansas has a better quarterback ????? Anxious to see what the grades look like for the Ky game.

It is hard to stay "up beat" when after 2-3 giveaways that result in being down a couple of scores you know that your QB can not bring you back no matter how hard and well you hold the other team....

They are probably a 5-5 team. That isn't much different than the UK of old. Saturday's performance was dreadful, but this place overreacts to losses. It just does... and in melodramatic fashion.

Normally UK is getting steamrolled historically by most decent SEC programs. The last few years its very rare we get blown out, we are generally competitive in most games. 5-5 in a year like this would be a win for UK. Rich Brooks or Joker would go 2-8 with their teams.

Congrats on the win... you have taken quite a bit of abuse here over the years for Kentucky football and always stuck around. You deserve some props.

Not really. They had plenty of it last year and figured out how to finish 8-5.

Theres a difference in your QB struggling to move the ball and score points and directly and indirectly giving the other team points. Since the 2nd half of UGA our offense is responsible for 30 points for the other team. 21 of those scored directly by the opposing defense. UT probably loses to UGA by 7 -10 points and have a good chance to beat a UK team that didn't score an offensive TD til the 3rd quarter. IF their defense isn't scoring on our offense.

Dude that Arkansas game is going to be very interesting. If Pittman tops Pruitt, even the slurpers are going to have a tough time spinning that one.
Pruitt will be close to done if he loses to Arky .. I don’t give a flying f where the program was. This is year 3

Yes. That's why they call it "adversity."

It's also on the coaches to have the right personnel on the field to give the team the best chance to win. Continuing to put players on the field who make catastrophic mistakes would have to be demoralizing to the team as a whole.
