At this point I don’t understand why you wouldn’t play Bailey.

It’s not about winning anymore. We are not winning anything this year with 2 SEC losses.

We need this year to be about development.

So I would play every young gun you got. He mentioned having 26 guys who could play from the Sunday scrimmage. So play them. Develop them.

That’s something fans can get behind.

But if you are trying to salvage a season a d get to 6-4 or 7-3 and trot JG and a few of the same guys out there you will lose this fan base a the team.

Yup there has never been a better scenario to 100% plan for the future than right now. We are already out of contention and it’s a lost year anyway. Would be short-sighted to do any differently. May win 1 or 2 games more this year at the expense of the future.

If HB sucks we are totally screwed and will go 3-7 at best and it will be the beginning of the end.

It’s okay to roll with him for the experience and write the season off but that’s assuming he’s at least serviceable. He might not be.

You HAVE to find out. Anything else is unacceptable.

All of this.

The beauty of this approach is you still don’t burn a year of eligibility. This turns into basically a free year of in game, in conference scrimmage development for the young guys. Like you said, we aren’t winning anything, so let’s get these young guys some quality development. The Butch upperclassmen have had their shot, so let’s ride with the future.

It literally can’t hurt anything at this point.

Not sure hes my first choice. But hes not a bad option. He did call 2 very successful offenses
With a focus on TE’s. And if we’re talking recruiting? I’m a big Osovet advocate and have been since his hire, but this is the more boss move and since he’s in Knoxville on the payroll anyway.

Josh Dobbs is the only reason this program isn’t completely dead for the past decade. He gave us excitement and a pulse on offense.

Yes, Bray could sling it but it didn’t matter because we still sucked. He was also a bit of a choke artist in meaningful games.

Dooley was awful, Butch was awful but propped up by Dobbs, and Pruitt is less awful than them but keeps playing one of the worst QBs we’ve ever had, so he has become awful too and it all blends together into a decade of misery...with the only true bright spot being Dobbs.
Without Dobbs we would have had 10 years in a row of losing records holy sh**

Things I’d like to see happen before the day’s out:
1. Bench JG
2. Send Weinke packing and replace with Osovet.
3. Promote Chip Long to replace O as TE coach.
4. Send Friend packing and replace with Alex Jackson.

The more I think about it, the more I’m on board with playing all the young guys. This is a throw away year as far as eligibility is concerned. Turn this year into an extended summer camp with 10 scrimmages against conference opponents. Build off of it into the spring and let’s roll in 2021.
