JG aside, our lack of a strong RB is killing us

That is why they're working out Beckwith in the backfield, IMO. Pruitt has always wanted a Bama style big back but just hasn't won a recruiting battle for one yet.
Beckwith has never played a down at RB in his short HS career and wasn't recruited to play RB. I think he's practicing there out of necessity because the position is currently one of the weakest on our team in terms of physicality. I'm surprised Pruitt is trying him there and curious as to what the results with be. He definitely will be better than Chandler and Gray at breaking the soft arm tackles.

What about Tee Hodge? He's supposed to be more of a power back ... where has he been?
Anybody got any info here?

I keep hoping to see him in the game. Maybe against UK.

His HS film shows him taking many direct snaps at QB that were designed runs. He has some wheels and has moves like a RB. I am not sure where he will eventually land but once he is healthy & ready to hit the field, he will be a threat carrying the rock.

We have two but they're both playing linebacker and not super well either at the moment.

There someone has done it again...... Kamara,,, How do we know what his best use was/would have been at UT. The only way to even guess at it is to look no further than last night. He was the feature back, he was the back out of the backfield on pass plays, he made one of the best catches down field (like a great outside receiver) the NFL will have this year and when need he gave his team a really good kickoff return when they really needed it. Makes me sick AGAIN to think how poorly our staff used or misused or just didn't use him while he was on the hill.
Talk about living the dream: Kamara loves what he does - he is incredibly good at it - and he is making a fortune. No wonder the guy is always smiling...makes me happy to watch him play.

Oline grades. Nothing else needs to be said

Again, more people in the box than can be blocked because of ZERO downfield threat! The offense begins and ends with the QB. He has to be a threat to throw the ball accurately and cause issues for the defenses secondary. The defense dictates to our offense because of the QB, the top teams offense dictates to the defense and makes them react. Reacting takes longer, offenses dictate to our defense which is why we always seem to be a step slow or make the tackle after 5-8 yards.

Get a threat under center and see how the game changes, or just go back and watch Peyton, Tee, or some of the better QB's we have had.....hell for that matter watch Bray....he dictated to the defense and our offense was pretty stout. Our QB is not a threat and we have struggled and will continue to until our QB is a threat.

Yeah, JG has decent accuracy dumping off to his check down man at the LOS which is evidenced by his 60% completion percentage. That doesn't change the fact that he's pretty damn horrible at any other downfield pass other than a 50/50 ball thrown at the sideline. Literally every coach knows they can play within 10 yards of the LOS and shutdown the vast majority of JG's completed passes and the running game.
Funny how last year he said JG didn't throw 50/50 balls. Now he says we have WR that were 50/50 wr. It best to let him push his narrative...itll be all about Salter next year....

It’s hard to watch our running backs sometimes, Eric gray actually isn’t bad size, same size as de’andre swift but swift ran like a madman. Gray has nice moves but doesn’t seem to break tackles. John Kelly was like 3 inches shorter but broke tackles all the time.

I am excited about Cody Brown, I also want to see what Hodge and Beckwith can do. Heck the 2 times that #20 Smalls got in there he looked good and played with fire. We need to get Hodge and Beck in the rotation, competition breeds competition. We always had good tough smart running under Johnny Majors, heck I remember when our 2nd and 3rd stringers used to show out. Tony Thompson, I remember he was 3rd or 4th on depth chart and we got down to him for a few games and he ran wild. In the 80's and 90's we had dangerous backfields. We haven't had a truly dangerous backfield since Lewis and Henry. Kelly was the closest thing, he was a very tough runner and durable. He also had wheels. I am hopeful we will get back to recruiting difference maker tailbacks that can run in between tackles and beat you outside as well. GBO!!!!

Gray and Chandler go down way to easy. You really don’t see any Yards after contact from either. In the past we’ve had a better run game with a way lower overall quality o line due to having a good feature back who had speed and size. Do we have anyone on campus or recruit wise who may eventually fill this glaring hole? Will Cody Brown be that guy? Its nuts that a 2021 recruit is already bigger than our current RBs by 25 lbs
Smalls , Hodge and Whitehead. Also Crouch and Banks.

Give Gray and Chandler running lanes and they move the chains
the Vols ran into one of the best, if not the best defenses in the country in Georgia
Even the bigger RB’s will find it extremely difficult to run on Georgia’s D

I'm really hoping Beckwith, Whitehead, or Hodge can give us something soon. They don't need a lot of carries, but just having a big back in to help convert those third and 1s would be big. Keep the defense honest to an extent as well.
And Smalls.

When I first started reading your comments:

"hahaha oh man this guy is just messing with this guy."

After reading a few of your comments:

"No way. This guy is actually serious."

Dude....what have you been watching for THREE+ years.....Guarantano has been the prohibiting factor. How that's lost on you is bizarre.....It's really really REALLY weird actually.

You must not know him. Not only is he a delusional idiot...he is a blatant racist. Read his post history if you doubt this, or want to feel really smart and well rounded. Dude is a froot loop.

Love Cody Brown he may not have blazing speed but his ability to see hole make cuts and run with Power reminds me of the Cheese so much. he is what we need. It will also be interesting when Whitehead gets a chance for the Coaches to make a full Evaluation of him is he a RB or MB. In CHRIST Alone

Brown, and Evans was that type of commitment. Great balance and a bruiser.

If we just had a Montario Hardesty type at RB.

And a Jim Chaney type at O line coach.

And a Lane Kiffin type at head coach.

Our offense would probably be better.
