QB Development

JG has gotten better each year. He is way better than the two backups.

Bailey isn't ready yet.

These are facts.

Those are not facts, those are your opinions, based off a very small sample set of snaps from the other QBs, and your own emotional connection to JG.

He has the worst accuracy on passes > 10 yards in all of FBS going into his 5th year in college ball. He still can't read a defense in his 5th year of college ball. He still has zero QB clock on his 5th year of college ball. The offense still averages 24 points or less per game behind him.

Your concept of improvement is 100% predicated on your erroneous belief that raw YPP, completion percentage, and QBR nullify the fact that he doesn't move the offense, or throw touchdowns well or often.

Pruitt manages to not lose, not to win. He is all about not making mistakes, thinks no turnovers win the game, instead of how can we beat the snot out of the guys and run up the score. That offensive is pathetic and JG is a big, big part of that mess.

Just look at 3rd down conversion, we are now 11 conversions out of 41 attempts, for an impressive 26%, one of the lowest in major college programs, ranked 68th. Alabama #2 at 67%, Texas A&M #3 at 62%, Florida #5 at .57%, Ole Miss #7 at 56%, you get the idea.

Make a friggin qb change for goodness sakes, get the new guys some experience forget all this foolish talk about dopey giving us the best chance to win, he stinks how much more do we need to see, 4 years is enough pain watching this.

The problem is JG probably looks amazing in practice. He can make all the throws (some inaccuracy) when not being pressured and JG knows nobody can hit him in practice. The problem is he is not a gamer and folds when pressured. Coaches don’t get that side of him much until the game when “live bullets” are coming at him.

How do you know? Practices are not streamed.

Because Pruitt is on record multiple times saying that who practices the best plays in the games.

Cade practice better than Wright? Guess its true then. Cause he stepped right in and started when he was granted permission. If it was based on game performance, all of our starters would be coming off the bench.

Something tells me that practicing against our defense, was not especially effective in preparing our offense for Georgia's defense.

There is some reason, and I don't claim to know why, that these coaches are working so hard to control the narrative on the QB situation for now 3 years.
1) They play JG during the times when it doesn't make sense or seem to give us a good opportunity to be successful (when he's melting down or facing a D with strengths that outmatch his weaknesses), instead of giving a backup some game reps for experience.
2) They refuse to name a depth order, won't even designate a #2 at the position. It's reached absurdity.
3) They deflect the obvious JG discussions by - and this is WEIRD - using the defense that "we suck at our jobs". Well they don't say it that way, but they openly admit that 2nd and 3rd year QBs who THEY recruited AND were responsible for developing are so incapable at this point of taking the field, that the Bad Jarrett personality (when it emerges) is STILL better than any of the others. Wow never thought I'd see coaches throw themselves under the bus like that.
4) They won't answer specific questions about the position if the subject matter involves who is or will be playing.

I can't imagine how awkward it is for the backups to have coaches consistently (passive-aggressively) insult them in public and to work so hard without even having the decency to designate you a spot in the order.

Never seen anything like this. Wouldn't care, if it was working. But it obviously is not, and they are doubling down instead of trying something different.
Technically they did not recruit Shrout or Mauer if you remember Maurer claimed if Butch was fired he might go elsewhere

So do what? Lie to Shrout and Maurer and tell them that they have a legitimate shot when when in reality the QB "competition" has always been rigged, and watch them transfer in late summer of 2021 or during the season instead?

How's that going to look to any future QB who is thinking about coming to UT?

Like I said, just a guess and if my guess is right there is no upside to playing HB this year other than winning this year. That way you have a 5 way QB competition next year and only have to keep 3. It wouldn't be the 1st time a recruit has been lied to.

Is that you Weinke? If he’s so improved why isn’t that translating on the field. JG reached his ceiling last year and that’s it. “He makes reads faster” great make the throws then. He’s proven he can’t. How do you know the backups aren’t better?

5th year senior qb that has been starting for 3 years and the best defense they’ve got is “he’s getting better”. You don’t even have to argue that.

A 5th year senior qb that has been the starter for years should be the leader of the team. He should be a dependable force that you can count on. When the offense is having a bad game he’s the guy that throws the team on his back and carries them to a win.

He should not be a liability you have to game plan around and struggles with reading defenses and getting the ball out late. Whether it’s his own limitations, poor coaching of him, or poor coaching and development of the other qbs there’s no good excuse to have a 5th year senior qb playing at this level and still be the starter.

Not saying he’s 100% to blame for all our offensive woes though.

Yeah like usual your facts are your less than intelligent opinions.

It's time for whoever is next. Bring out the water boy. JG should've been gone a long time ago.

Are you confused? Because that was not a pro jg post.

random stat of the day. JG is 5 td passes away from passing Tee Martin, Andy Kelly and Heath Shuler.
Tee Martin sat behind Payton Manning and Started 1 season.
If JG was worth a damn he would of past him long ago

Are you sure about that? That doesn't make sense to me since Pruitt took the job in December of 17, Maurer committed in June of 18 and signed his letter in December of 18. Butch was fired in the middle of Maurers junior year of high school.
