Pruitt's record as coach....

Most every knows BM or JT may not be better. You have to get them reps to see if they are better since JG has set the bar so low.
JG was objectively better than BM or JTS last season. Unless one of them has had a miracle turn around over the off season, it's probably much of the same this year.

The Qb issue is key for him. The goodwill of the fan base will disappear if we see another JG performance like Saturday and Pruitt still does not try other options. I have been a big defender of Pruitt for a year now. I will turn on him if he does not make the right Qb decision.

Agree with this. If JG struggles in first half against UK but still trots out as the starter in the second half, I’ll have a heart attack. No one will blame the coaches if BM or JT takes over - even if they throw 3 pics. Personally, I would start another qb against UK - it’s time to find out where we stand with the 3 behind JG.

I don't think we can judge CJP as a head coach until later this year maybe, next year for sure. He has had to rebuild a roster, change a culture and compete w/top tier teams for recruits. All in all we are on schedule although it may not feel like it. The litmus test for this team is beating the competition we should and being competitive with the top tier teams. We did that for a half against UGA then the turnovers made the final worse than the talent gap. Proves we still have gaps and need to learn how to win against elite teams. That is WAY better than learning how to win against average teams.

You can keep Muschamp..... we have a far better coach than he's proven to be. :p
If we are not competitive in games with the elites, we will not be competitive with the elites in recruiting. We don’t necessarily have to win games like Saturday but if we continue to lose by 3 touchdowns or more than we will never make up the recruiting imbalance. I’m not mad we lost to Georgia, not happy either. I’m mad at the lack of competitiveness in the 2nd half.

Come on man , they were freshman and still have not had significant playing time. No one has a clue how they will do in a game this year. We know they both have the physical talent to be good Qb’s. All we need to find out is if they have it between the ears and can respond in game situations. They showed flashes of being good last year.

Exactly. Why would Pruitt trot out some unproven QB without significant game experience against a veteran who is not great, but looks improved enough to win the games he should this year? If he played JM or HB and they lost to a UK or Arkansas then y'all would be right back on here calling for Pruitt's head over the loss.

I wouldn’t. I don’t believe he should start the backups. He should rotate at least one in series or a few plays with JG. If they do well , give them more snaps.

It was pretty disappointing for sure. Felt like we got punched in the nose and didn't know how or couldn't respond.

Not clear how its going to effect recruiting (yet) but I don't think it hurts in the next couple of cycles. I say this as we have been doing very well under the current staff getting great talent in and that should continue. To get to the next level that Bama, UGA, Clemson and OSU are on I completely agree, we have to start winning those games.

Sorry, year three, you don’t give up 44 points to ANYONE. Pathetic. This excuse is no longer acceptable. Losing maybe, but not getting manhandled like we did. Talk about change in culture all you want, but giving up 40+ to GA in subsequent game is NOT TN football.
This was a loss by heart and passion. Period. And that is all on the Head Coach. Same problem as we had with Dooley and Jones. We have better athletes but they are still getting whipped and giving up.
Just about every team in the SEC withe the exception of Ga. has given alot of points this year. Bama gave up over 44

This isn't a defense or a criticism of Pruitt, but I think marked improvement each season is important. I see four games (highlighted in purple) that you could argue we should've won and didn't, and two of those were literally due to one broken play.

Pruitt had never been a HC before and I believe is still learning on the job a little, however, anyone who has been a fan of this program for 30-40 years or more can see the difference in the attitude and recruiting and play of this team vs. the 2017 team for sure.

Yes he still is behind Fla, UGA, and Bama but these teams are 77-14 during the past three seasons as well, so let's wait and see what he does the rest of the year before we ignorantly cry about it. A 7-3 season or better would be great, 6-4 would be expected, 5-5 or less would be disappointing IMO
With JG on the field this team goes 4-6. So its going too be a disappointing Season.

1. Ole MIss' coach was OC at Bama and knew their tendencies and was likely stealing their signs as well, and still lost, we were as close last year to Bama until the fumble.
2. Tennessee is 3-9 vs Georgia since Fulmer left including the win 4 years ago, that's with Tennessee at its lowest point in history and UGA at it's highest, and four of those losses came down to the last play, so to act like we can "never" upset them is again sounding like someone who hasn't been around Tennessee football longer than a decade. We HAVE pulled off upsets (of both Florida and UGA recently), and have come close to Bama the juggernaut a couple of times, but not enough yet.
3. Realizing reality and logical thinking isn't "making excuses"

I wish we had a coach on staff that had workwd at UGA recently...that would have been a big help...

Since his introductory press conference, Pruitt has acted like the groom in a shotgun wedding

Good post. I think if we own 3rd place in SEC East again this year, we did very well. I was happy with how we played Georgia until the 3.5th Q. Losing Johnson was a tremendous blow to our Defense as well.

Also, I said it last year... our mental game is the biggest difference between a 10 win season last year and we should be worried about it this year. I have never seen so many different kids make boneheaded decisions. Our kids need to stop celebrating every play and learn to stay locked in. Hate to use BJ rhetoric, but they need to snap and clear whether the previous play was good or bad and they need to learn the friggin’ plays.

Pruitt said there were a substantial amount of calls that they made that they did not execute properly.

blah blah blah

Big game this week!

So you're saying the roster difference is so great we should expect to get blown out by these teams? We have some depth along the Oline and a Dline that has played above its expectations so far. We don't defend the middle of the field and our QB is a headcase, but i don't see a huge difference here. We shouldn't be getting clowned stomped at this point. We're a undisciplined team that can't get lined up half the time, Oline false started a million times last week. 84 yards in penalties. You clean that up and limit the turnovers and we're in that game til the end. The roster excuse is just that, a excuse.

Gave you a LIKE for the “clown stomped” part. Able to laugh today.
