Year 4 ... Same Old JG

Tennessee offensive football is SO HARD to watch with JG at QB. Every time Tennessee gets the ball I feel virtually hopeless. Tennessee has very good players at most every position on offense yet we struggle game after game to score or even sustain a drive over 10-20 yards. JG will NEVER lead this Tennessee team to the top echelon of the SEC East even if he had 5 star players at every position.

To my point, with less than 2 minutes to go in the first half Tennessee gets the ball at the SC 44 yard line and I know from watching the past 3 years of JG ball that Tennessee will fail to score. Sure enough, 1st down ... JG throws behind a wide open back on a 8 YARD pass, INCOMPLETE. 2nd down ... Gray runs for 4 yards. 3rd down ... JG drops back to pass, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 seconds go by as JG stares down a covered receiver and then gets tackled for a loss. 4th down ... Tennessee punts AGAIN!

Gawd ... how much longer are we going have to watch this same scenario play out? Like everything else this year ... it's a LOST YEAR so why on earth don't we play Harrison and let him get some valuable experience and learn about SEC game speed. The best we can hope for with JG is 5-5 or 6-4 at best. If we don't replace JG this year we will be looking at 5th FRICKEN YEAR with JG at QB. GEEZ !!!
The coaches see he's the best we've got to manage the game. He knows the plays and takes care of the ball. Is he a great QB? No, he is not. We could put Bailey in the game and his numbers would be offset by his interception to TD ratio. Anybody else will make more intuitive throws, but they will also negate them with interceptions and maybe even pick 6's. JG throws it to open receivers, scrambles, or takes the sack. He seems to take as long as the line gives him. Now he has more time to wait for someone to be open, so he should be better this year. Forget about timing patterns, throwing people open, etc. That will never happen. He's too cautious. Missouri's QB would have thrown for 700 and 8 TDs if he played for us.

I think back to his commitment video. And there have been so many distractions. And so many oddities, frankly, that a lot of college players don't have to deal with during their college career when they are supposed to be learning and improving.
Too much decided on him not being happy not playing against Georgia Tech. I can never hate on someone being over competitive. Herbstreit got his overreaction in and too many wrote the book on him. I was advocating Dormady at the time and still thought the witch trial was overdone. Now he’s regarded as a tough kid and good teammmate. Fans need to quit being in a hurry.

Some of you guys would find something to bitch about if we beat GA and Bama.

This was JG's most complete game of his career, and probably the most put together we've seen the team as a whole under Pruitt, but let's not kid ourselves about the fact that we have faced the bottom of the SEC so far.

Missouri is hot garbage at the moment minus Roundtree, and we won't see a defensive line that porus for the rest of the season, and our defensive backfield is going to have to actually start covering receivers or better teams are going to hurt us.

Well we're going to find out a lot about the team this week. I think JG goes into this game feeling good about himself. That can mean a lot. But let's all admit that the game is going to turn on whether the OL can open the holes for the running game. If we can do that to UGA with their D this year, we can do it to anybody. JG cannot throw any picks though and he can't take any big sacks. If he goes 15 for 20 and 200 yds with no turnovers, I like our chances if we rush for at least 150.

Whats great about this statement is thaf JGs stats are not outstanding.....It was a good game for JG. 1 small step above a game manager
