2020 Presidential Race

I mean they definitely included the freedom of speech, assembly, the press, right to petition, and right to bear arms as democratic hallmarks that would prevent one man rule. The constitution may not have told states how to set up their government, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t expecting anyone to install a King.
None of those rights prevent one man rule.

I just think you are being intellectually dishonest to state that the Consitution is one thing because that is the way things are. Instead of actually understanding that the Consitution is more about allowing things than dictating them.

The FF built in enough flexibility where you cant say we are just one thing, representative democracy, because of the Consitution.

That would leave a non-stupid person with the conclusion that the rich do not pay their fair share.
I thought the right has been trying to say that the rich pay more than their fair share.
Either they do, except for Trump because he is scum.
Or they don't, and dems. need to rewrite the tax codes so they do.
Either way, it's a horrible look for Trump and the right.
I think you’re ruling out a reasonable possibility:

Trump is actually a moron who actually hemorrhages money like water through a sieve.

I mean he was stealing from his charity. Maybe he legitimately squandered his inheritance and is a broke ass loser, drowning in debt.

The way he ran the US economy, I can believe it.

There is some crossover appeal with moderate Republicans and Biden. That would not happen with the Bern. Plus, Bernie would have to get a very unreliable voting block (18-25ish) to come out in droves for him.

I think it's different. More like Biden is to keep moderate Dems from either voting for Trump or just not voting at all. Bernie and some other Dem candidates were too radical except to the hardcore Dem left. Tulsi, if she moderated on some things, was the one Dem candidate that Republicans might have switched for.

I am wondering if people pushing democracy have ever dealt with crowds. I find the more people involved in a decision the worse it is. Especially if you cant get clear direction. "No decision is worse than a bad decision".

I worked in or chaired a few ASME committees. My take was the difficulty in reaching a decision was directly and inversely related to the number of people in the group.

I definitely did not say we are a representative democracy because the constitution mandated it. My argument was that we have always been a representative democracy, even if the common people didn't originally vote for president or senators. My bringing up the constitution was to highlight safeguards that, outside of the right to bear arms, are basically cornerstones of every modern democracy.

I'm still confused as to what would have led Hillary to believe Trump's core supporters are deplorable
