This is what I am praying for! As Ulysses says you have to hit rock bottom. He is close if not already there. He has a lot of pride and more stubborn than me.

Thanks everyone for the support and prayers! Means a lot to me!

I was a drug addict for 9 years. I not only was a user but a dealer. I also had a bad Whiskey drinking habit but as God says sin never satisfies and sooner or later you hit the bottom having done everything the world said to do but yet never satisfied until I gave my life to the Lord. From that day on never touched another drink nor drugs He is has been and still is all sufficient for me. One of my dad's famous sayings goes, "I never quit drinking I just changed fountains!)

I like it. What about Darnell Wright? Is he playing more guard or tackle on the right side this year?
pretty sure he was lined up at RT last week.

not sure which Johnson he was referring to above, if Jamir, didn't he get hurt against USCe? i still think he's right behind Wanya at LT, Trey LG, Kennedy at Cetner, Mays at RG, and Wright at RT......Carvin, Calbert, Jamir, Akrpo, Spraggins etc....all will play a lot i'm sure...and i think Calbert is the one getting looks at RT with Wright.

He was only out for a couple of plays. The way he came off the field, hopping stiff-legged, it looked like he may have been cramping.

Seems like a good time to remember the folks who didn’t want us to recruit Cooper because of Cade going to UGA

Calbert needs to take that RT spot. Wright looked like crap

Just read the missouri game thread thus far.

The number of people over-estimating what DeAndre Johnson is capable of is mind boggling.

I mean, I'm not being a hater - but the guy suddenly isn't Derek Barnett. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ended the year with 5-6 sacks total.

Don't get me wrong - I'm rooting for the young man every snap to kill the QB, but he's never shown that he could. He crushed that group of 5 QB whos probably never experienced SEC speed before and has limited to no mobility... but I'm going to need to see a lot more before I start calling for him to get an inane number of sacks each week.

IMO the best pass rusher on this team remains Kivon Bennett. Come year end, it might be one of the freshman. I'll happily eat crow on this thread if DJ has another 2+ sack game this year.
i think the important thing for htis defense is to show that we have multiple folks capable of it, along with the scheming this staff does to get guys to the QB, the more an offense has to account for, the better.

so for that reason and that reason alone, i don't think it matters one bit how many any individual player gets. what we do know now is that DJ is capable, it's on film and opponents will have to figure out what USCe didn't do that allowed him to get free....and compensate. while also not allowing that to be a reason someone else gets freed up to do the same.

the other thing is, we don't have to get sacks to be effective at pass rushing. move the QB, make him step up...the pick 6 for HT, that was, in part, due to the pressure applied up front, made the QB move up in the pocket and kinda rush the throw....

anyway....we don't need any one player to be reggie white or derrick barnett to be an effective pass rushing defense.

Loving these stories of redemption folks!

much respect to you, the others and most of all the Healer of all things!

From the interview it sounds like Cade and Cooper have a younger brother. Does anyone know if he's a prospect that could end up at Tennessee?
Yeah their least brother, Camp, is a brute already as a 12-13 year old I believe. You better believe they’ll keep their eye one that.

wright didn't set the world on fire, no. but game one, not a ton of practice reps and he is still a true sophomore playing tackle in the SEC.

he'll be fine....not really worried there.....

Dude sometimes I shake my head at our fans...the OL game play was arguably the best of any group in the entire game. Had Chaney called the game a bit differently and we got more consistent QB play on 3rd down we would have rolled up 500 yards on SC.

Had an unexpected discussion with VFL LaMarcus Thompson yesterday. One of the good guys. Was in the league for a few years and suffered an injury similar to Inky's without the complete tear, so he was able to recover. It did end his career though. Still looks like he could suit up and compete today. Some may remember he played LB back during the Phil to Kiffin to Dools years. Of course he loved Phil and also thought highly of Kiffin. Dools did not make the love list. I feel so bad for the guys that had to endure multiple HC's, a couple who were totally incompetent, during that decade of losing and turmoil.

We discussed this team and his expectations. Like many on here he believes that JG now understands who to throw the ball to even if his passes are off target sometimes. He agreed with me that JG gets unusual emotional or energy bursts on some of his throws. We all have seen it, when a 10 yard pass over the middle is thrown 100 MPH or he sails one toward the stands that should be medium velocity into a window on the sidelines. He sees enough improvement in JG and the team that he predicts 8-2 or better. He likes what he sees in the program a lot and believes strongly in CJP.

all we needed was consistent qb play. i don't think the play calling was awful. remember, 5 or 6 of those pass plays that we have been bemoaning JG on all week....those plays were there. that's not the play caller's or game plans fault they didn't work. they did work, at least to the point that everyone was in position to make the dang thing work. we were winning outside most of the night.

and when we decided to run the ball in the2nd half, we did.....

but yeah, on the whole i think the O line got better as the night went a long. but i wasn't overly impressed in the 1st half......

now, the game plan evolves as the game plays out, so as the game got later, and tighter on the scoreboard, i'm sure adjustments were made along the way. but the plan early on was to put the pedal on the floor............................we had to back off that obviously.
