Qb2

He beat Auburn on the road. And will do it again this year. Say what you want, we'll be right in the thick of it with those teams you mentioned.
You've picked out an exception where he had success primarily because Auburn had no answer for the 50/50 sideline throws. I'm not knocking that play. It worked and played into JG's skill set very well. He placed the ball where his guy could get it and used the sideline and receiver size to keep it away from their DB's. But again, that's the exception. The "rule" is much more akin to what we saw vs Vandy, IU, and USCe.

I would LOVE to see him improve. I would love to believe UT will be in it with those teams. But 1/7 on 3rd down, 0/2 in the RZ, and drive ending overthrows on what should be routine plays... won't get us there.

Seems like those throws happen more than you suggest.

😕. What is it with you and your boy that you don’t understand professionalism? What’s BJ supposed to say when asked about his relationship with JG if he truly feels differently? “He sucks. I don’t like him at all as our qb. I think the other guys are better. If I hadn’t had the skill to make a one handed catch after adjusting to an inaccurate pass, we would’ve been 0-10 on third downs.” ? Dude!..... no one is going to say those things and those that DO express their true feelings don’t make it in any league. See T. Owens and Dez Bryant. It got OBJ traded in his prime and if it happens again with the Browns he’ll never be heard from again. What impact do you think it would have on a college player? My guess is more catastrophic than any NFL player and as you can see above ..... it didn’t bode well for them. Honesty with the media isn’t always the best policy. It can ruin your entire career.

NCAA ruled that this season does not count as far as player eligibility......Example...A senior this year that normally would have no eligibility left can now comeback next season...

Two questions;
1. what if a senior wants to come back next year but coaches do not want them to? I would doubt we are obligated to let them come back.
2. if a senior comes back does that affect our recruiting numbers?

Yeah you're right, let's just sh:+ all over the media instead of taking a player's comment as just simply being true.

1. Coaches have a way of intimating how much or not so much you’ll play. Think that happened with Lowe and Fils-Aime.

2. Hasn’t been clarified by the powers that be. My guess is they’ll allow a waiver for players only eligible for one season.

Everybody is always longing for a Juwan Jennings style tirade. But not many recover from that.

Two good questions and nobody knows those answers yet. I'd say a coach could say no to another year....then those players could transfer.

So you think that ball was "on the money"?

Come on now, be honest....
His WR who caught it said it was so yes I'm going with Johnson over the couch coaches of VN. That throw was into extremely tight coverage and you guys act like they don't practice those type catches.

For a moment I thought we would talk about qb2 and what the offense might look like with him.

My opinion;
With Shrout; I think the offense becomes explosive. His deep pass threat can seriously open up our running game. I think he would be much more accurate than our current #1.

With Maurer; Also think the offense becomes more explosive. He has shown high energy and enthusiasm and the players responded positively to him. I think he could be a great leader. If he can scramble after the leg injuries then he could give us a dual threat more so than the other QBs.

I have said it before, and will say it again. One of these guys could very well be our #1 this year.

I watched film of that play again. The only reason he had to catch it one-handed is because the defender held his right arm and should’ve been flagged for DPI.
I also saw that. However, the ref did not throw a flag so it was inportant that he snagged it with his left hand. Great catch. Big play at the right time.

I hve not seen him throw a single ball this year in a game situation. The longer the season plays out, the more likely the other QBs, including HB, will seen some action.

😎👍.. By the way, I coach from my office chair not my couch. It gives it more of an official look. The difference between us is, I freely admit it. We both saw the same play and have different opinions, imagine that. As someone else stated, regardless of whether or not the pass was on target, what do you really expect Johnson to say in that situation?

Peace fellow armchair QB...

Call it what you wish but until players start saying what’s truly on their minds and the media starts reporting the ENTIRE truth..... I’ll take anything made public with a grain of salt.

I, for one, just don't think Maurer has the talent for it

We are as obligated as we are to any senior or player. Which means, very obligated. But that is also why staffs have end of year "talks" with players...

That would coincide with a player saying that about Maurer...amirite?

Yes it would. Back when Maurer became the starter and the practice reports switched up to saying HE was the better looking qb I said to take that with a grain of salt as well.

Can you produce one of those...without a recent edit? You cast doubt on any receivers complimenting him on a particular throw? Imply the media was hiding the truth?

It’s so frustrating the way this will play out. And I’ll bet the damn house it goes this way. Qb no2 (who knows who that is) won’t get to come in until we’re getting our asses whipped by uga and there’s no chance at salvaging the game. Then they’ll be on the shortest leash ever. As soon as they make one bad play we’ll go back to JG. That’s the way it’s went the last 3 seasons so how could we expect anything else.
