I would appreciate some prayers y'all. My best friend's husband was killed in a car crash a week ago. My 19 year old niece has knots on neck, chest and underarms. One on her chest is growing rapidly...from pimple size to over a dime size in 2 weeks. The earliest they can get her in at the cancer center is October 19. Lymphoma runs in the family. We are trying to get her to go through the ER in Murfreesboro or at Vanderbilt, but she is a stubborn teenager that is still trying to come to grips with the possibility. Plus my husband that is an alcoholic is missing more and more work. Was to drunk when he got up today to go. @VolsDoc81TX @Ulysees E. McGill any advice would be appreciated

I 100% hope things get better for you as you are one of the good ones on here. It just shows there are more important issues than a football game.
Stay strong and when needed your Vol family is here for you!!

Sorry everyone...I’d do a message outside this thread if I could.

@VolsDoc81TX For 2-3 weeks my left knee, just below the kneecap, is slightly swollen, has slight discomfort when I bend it, hurts a good bit upon standing if I’ve been sitting down for a while, and hurts like a MFer if I have to kneel down and put weight on it. I’m sure there’s a thousand things it could be, but do you have any thoughts? Should I go see an Ortho or give it a while and see what happens?

If it's not injury related, could it be inflammation from arthritis? My dad has arthritis and has had swelling in his knee before that was bad enough that he had it drained to relieve some of the pressure. Good luck!

Sounds a lot like me all through my teenage years.

It is amazing, even with healthy family and friends, how many people ignore the truth regarding this. They will ask you how you keep from getting sick or you seem healthy, yet, when you tell them what you are doing and suggest they check it out they do nothing.

Glad for the negative test and hope your stepmom recovers.
It is very aggravating is what it is.

That is quite a load you are carrying. Hope the teenager will go to Vanderbilt ER. Their cancer treatment center is one of the best. The alcoholism will not go away without treatment and support, but he has to want to fix it--you cannot fix it for him. It is good that you and your best friend have each other--sometimes friends are better than family. This is coming from hard earned experience and you and yours are in a lot of people's thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for sure. Lean into God and He will be your strength.

So I have an odd request. As many of you know we lost our home and everything we own in a fire last year and that the OH was hospitalized most of last year With cancer and liver issues. I know some of you are cell phone nerds so here’s what I’m trying to figure out. How do I get my hands on an iPhone that can run iOS 14 for super cheap. I need one because my old one was incinerated and Android was cheaper but I have to have one so I can figure out how 2 to get two of the new iWatches that are coming out. That has become a priority and not because they are cool tho they are. Those watches have eec, blood ox. fall alerts (he fell multiple times last week) that enable 911 calls and a family share ability that would allow me to go into the next room without having to worry that something terrible might happen while I am out of earshot because he could easily contact me.

I have searched and searched for discounts but apparently no one cares if you are sick, dying, or disabled. No discounts that I have found for that and I’m running out of ideas. As someone who has become a primary caregiver those watches would ease my burdens immensely. Any ideas on where to look or who might be able to help would be greatly appreciated. I honestly don’t understand why this whole setup isn’t covered by Medicare because the functions it provides are life and sanity savers.

Short answer is to buy used. I know signing up for a "new plan" is one of the cheapest routes to get brand new, but usually ya gotta have access to the other carriers service in your area and be willing to hop from say Verizon to T-Mobile, or Sprint to Boost etc. to get those sorts of incentives.

Define "super cheap" with a budget. Also Best Buy as retail store is one of the better ones, they may even offer open box and trade in options.

iOS 14 is supported by any iPhone since the 6S (full list here - These are all of the iPhones that support iOS 14 - 9to5Mac). Don't limit yourself to a brand new phone although, of the new phones, I'd probably recommend the SE ($399). We've had good luck with Apple refurbished devices. I also hear a lot of recommendations for Swappa for purchasing used phones.

Thanks for the lists. I honesty don’t care about the phone as long as it runs and will work with the new iWatches. That is the main thing that interests me because the features would be so helpful given our medical/life situation. I wish Apple hadn’t locked them behind having an iPhone.

Generally I'm not an Apple fan but TBH they probably wouldn't work on Android as fragmented as it is. Too many different hardware and software configuration.
