Hanging in there, thank you. She just turned 93, and her memory is just toast, but she still recognizes me.

I’ve been trying to catch up on threads. I’m so sorry about your dad. That’s about where my MIL is these days. It’s so damn hard on family and loved ones. Prayers up for you and yours.

For me, I never got a buzz. Wound up lying on the bathroom drooling until it wore off and decided I was too old for 21st century intoxicants. Wine is much simpler.

The rest is down in the basement.

A lot of stuff ripened before the jars came in and wound up in the compost piles. Next year, I’ll be ready! —if I can get a pressure canner. Only so much you can do with a water bath.

German Johnson, a pink heirloom related to Brandywine. The best combo of sweet and acid I’ve ever tasted.

Apparently I’m the only person in western NC that can’t grow Cherokee Purple, so I’m switching to this one.

I don’t put them in the dishwasher, I just bleach them. I can’t bring myself to cut up juicy stuff on wood, but I use it for tidier things.
