Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

Are you like me in thinking comedy died pretty much about the same time Laugh In was finished? That the clowns in Chicago know as much about comedy as they do about a quiet evening in the hood.
Most comedians are not funny to me, but I like cheap, sophomoric humor like the Mel Brooks movies. Also, the Naked Guns and Airplanes, Austin Powers and Mr. Bean.

I guess modern versions of those types would be the Scary Movies, Not Another Teen Movie, The Ridiculous 6,....I’m sure there’s more that just aren’t coming to mind.

What is your analytical gut on the election?

I honestly have no idea. History says incumbents die hard and that every president with a 40 something percent rating has won reelection. There are too many divergent polls to make any projections from that kind of analysis. I read last night about an Aussie (as I recall) that has astounding success at calling our presidential elections, and he's saying Trump takes it. This is a "what have you done for me ... or to me culture" built along the lines of instant gratification, and a very polarized and non objective press to pass along the message - mostly liberal, so there's that aspect. I'd hope that people would look at what's happening with respect to "peaceful demonstrations", their "causes", and be horrified at what we are becoming; but I'm not sure about that degree of rationality. In a way I think it is Trump's to lose, and he has a chance at pulling it off if he can tone it down and not screw it up - act responsible, but keep his impromptu mouth shut and his phone turned off. But more than anything is the potential for big events (covid dies or covid lives, a war, a city burns kind of thing) and how they might polarize the election ... Trump got screwed with covid - Bush got a boost from 9/11.

Don't forget the danger of mail-in voter fraud as a wildcard.

I never cared a lot for those movies, but something like Kelly's Heroes where the comedy is there but not slapstick I can watch over and over again. And it's hard to beat the Bill Murry speeches about being underdogs. I guess I'm like the "bring me a rock" style of management on comedies ... I know what I like when I see it.

I had coffee, I'm on it. Ready to go back into the ICU jungle tonight....lol.

When you are ready to unwind after work, one of my favorites is Reds (the one with Bruce Willis). I keep telling my wife I'm ready to watch that series again. Mary Louise Parker steals the show with her expressions.

Yes, sir. Both are great movies. John Malkovich is a hoot in those two.
