Saturday Scrimmage Notes

Bottom line......in the near future one of these guys will have to be developed to take over. Would you rather have an Aaron Rodgers type or Matt Ryan. At the moment UT has its choice.
He’s a BRIAN MAURER type currently...and that’s all we KNOW about him.

There’s lots of them...so you have multitudes of examples. I frequently use Aaron Rodgers in stars/offers debates because he’s an extreme example. Had NO scholarship offers outside JUCO coming outside of high school. He also had to beat out very talented competition at Cal before he became said example, so constantly throwing Maurer up as a similar example is beyond premature. Be less stressful if you follow your instincts and revisit if he ever lives up to your projections...cuz he hasn’t yet.
That’s been his closest comparison since he entered Hs. I know all the things you just mentioned and I was waiting for one of you to say something and right on que you did. You’re correct. He was an under evaluated 3*. BM is no Aaron Rodgers at the moment because he hasn’t accomplished what Aaron Rodgers has. However Aaron Rodgers himself was no Aaron Rodgers before he proved everyone wrong. That’s my point. Some of you want to criticize me for the comparison but not one of you have compared his highlights to Arron to see the same mechanics, off platform footwork, playing style and abilities to see WHY I say the things I do.

You’ve had considerable access to him and this is the comparison you’ve reached. I’ve never second guessed your professional acumen...I’m not reversing course in my approach. However none of us are duty bound to take the same leap of faith with your evaluation. You saying he’s the same creature doesn’t make it so...facts to be determined. My take is you’re qualified but also biased...so we’ll wait.

We know as you claim to be a professional. lmao

Can't debate facts anyway.

Fact is BM #4 for a reason same as JG is number 1 for a reason.

And you will disappear again...for the same reason as last time.

Maurer will pass Gaurantano AGAIN.

BM is our 4th string QB, my dude.

Not saying that YOU have questioned me. In fact in that regard you’ve always been respectful and I appreciate that.

And out of respect I’ll tell you that’s it’s not that I’m biased. I’ve trained several qbs over the years and there are quite a few I don’t believe in to the extent of Brian for good reason. No qb that I’ve ever been around is as well rounded in skill as he is. UT got a good one and I originally just wanted everyone to be happy given the recent past of qb woes and not look too deep into rankings. However it manifested into a huge debate and gave me a reputation by defending what I know to be false. So I understand WHY I seem biased.

Now all that being said I have taken a personal approach to him which is also for good reason. I followed his recruiting and was personally involved. I witnessed him get robbed of rank despite his #1 rank in a state that’s always been rich in qb talent. I watched him get politically eliminated from Elite 11 MVP and read the reports that were bold faced lies to justify the results. I can go on but I’m not going to get into personal situations.

And you shouldn’t. But thanks for sharing what’s comfortable.

He could be 2 as well. He’s more dangerous than Shrout and the coaching staff knows that. No matter how the DC reads don’t be surprised to see 18 come in if JG goes down.
He could be QB2. If he wins QB3 and Shrout gets hurt or stinks it up. Thats IF he wins the QB3 spot.

I was hoping to get further insight. Instead everyone is having a pissing contest about a QB battle while having no idea what they are talking about.

Any real news?

What will you say when the season starts and thats exactly how the depth chart ends up?
I told you already. Idc what the DC reads because there are reasons that have nothing to with talent. However, let them get into a game and JG go down or play bad and BM more than likely jumps the DC to next in line because he’s already proven he can do it.

So you're saying if BM is QB4 on the depth chart... he goes in as backup if something happens with JG? Qb2 and 3 get bypassed?

Yes. Unless winning games this year isn’t quite as important as normal.
While I do hope that BM plays amazingly well, if he plays.... I dont see him playing if he is listed at qb4. He might play if he is qb3 and the circumstances call for it. It would speak volumes about how the coaches view him if he ends up at qb4 tho. If HB manages to pass him this season... BM will most likely transfer. Are you just that much smarter than the coaches?
