Given that neither you nor I are epidemiologists, much less epidemiologists who have studied coronavirus, how are we ever going to get past just showing each other what other scientists have said? Of course, we can step in and say "well, I've reviewed the gazillion studies out there, assessed their quality, and conclude X," but then I go back to the point that neither of us is an epidemiologist, and therefore not positioned to evaluate the data here. At the end of the day, for the uninitiated, we have to rely on the testimony of the experts, and Fauci is such an expert. I'm going to trust what he says about the virus everyday of the week over what Trump and his non-scientist sycophants say.

This is a load of crap. You couldn't hardly find a mask in April, much less start distributing 650 million. It would have taken months and by the end of May 100,000 had already died. People better wake the hell up--Trump is not the enemy here. He may have been a bad hire but you get to fire him in November. This seditious undermining of our government by people within the government is an issue that will not go away in November regardless of who is elected. US population is about 329 million. If 70% get infected (target for herd immunity), you're looking at 230 million infections. If 1% of those die, 2.3 million deaths.

You are leaving out two very important factors. Age and compromised status.

Or, as a weaker proposition, that it will only occur in certain neighborhoods (Corona in queens has an over 50% antibody positivity rate, Tribeca and some of the whiter enclaves are in the low teens)? And how do you explain Corona having a 50% antibody rate if herd immunity is obtained at a lower threshold? (Serious question, not asking in my typical smartass way)
