My crystal ball is in the shop, but with a rational well thought out response, it would not have been 190K. Wearing a mask and doing common sense things have become political and a sign of perceived strength. I can say that a lot of people around my area are starting to wear mask. Still a few deniers that refuse to. But that is a step in the right direction. Still a lot of unnecessary death.Curious as to what you estimate the death toll would be under a "competent administration"?

They didnt report much on Sweden, or other places doing ok. They kept the focus on the worst. They kept the focus on what the president did and off of what the governors did. Cant imagine the reaction if Trumo had done what Cuomo did. They kept the focus on Trump when even Biden has to admit that mask mandates, which was the lowest bar, wouldnt be constitutional.so it is the fault of the press now? The press was reporting what was happening around the world too. The virus is not going to act differently within the US as it acts in other countries. The problem is that the press was reporting what was going on and the government was saying something completely different....or lying to be more frank. Nonetheless, 190K people have died, not due to the panice but because the ineptitude of the this administration.
Sweden says lol.My crystal ball is in the shop, but with a rational well thought out response, it would not have been 190K. It wouldn't have been 190k. You know that for a certainty because of your rational thought process. My crystal ball is in the shop, but with a rational well thought out response, it would not have been 190K. I think we would have to look at population densities for big cities and another density for rural areas in america. compare those to other countries with similar hygienic standards, access to healthcare, and similar population demographics to get a realistic comparison.Sweden says lol.
I would bet my next paycheck on it. Science is science. There are steps that could have been taken to mitigate the infections and deaths. It wouldn't have been 190k. You know that for a certainty because of your rational thought process.
The question about how many would it have been is straightforward. So, how many? Is it possible to estimate using the same rational thought process?
I dont think a mask is going to make that difference up though. Basically everyone in sweden is already healthier than us and has "better healthcare". And I would think you could also look at how we have comoartively handled previous outbreaks. To say if the US flubbed Covid or not. It's possible that we did way worse than Sweden overall but actually better than we do conventionally. Basically without a baseline I dont think a comparison is helpful.I think we would have to look at population densities for big cities and another density for rural areas in america. compare those to other countries with similar hygienic standards, access to healthcare, and similar population demographics to get a realistic comparison.
Canada kicked butt in terms of fatalities.

Take a look at the "half measures" we took and all the job losses from that. Now imagine if we went full blow socialist on this thing and really cut down more so on people and businesses.I would bet my next paycheck on it. Science is science. So funny how many of you leftists put all your faith in a mask that the packaging reads that it won't stop the spread of anything LOLMy crystal ball is in the shop, but with a rational well thought out response, it would not have been 190K. Personally I think more than anything it's the healthy citizen part that matters. As it would for any disease.
Somewhat my point. I think you can make reasonable comparisons. I would be comfortable comparing Canada's rural area to our northen rural areas and Canada's metro areas to our northern cities..How did they compare to Montana or Wyoming? How many flights did they have coming and going from other countries? You can go on and on with the comparisons, but we are a separate country from everyone else and you can't compare the US to any other country.
I was thinking America to Sweden. Or America to anywhere. Without a baseline I dont see how you can say we did better or worse. It's been compared to flu outbreaks. I don't know what other disease we can use as a baseline if we're only doing an america to america comparison.
