Virtual classes for my 9 year old are absolutely terrible there is no continuity. Teachers don’t care if the kids are learning. It’s stupid.
I doubt the teacher doesn't care, but I understand that it may fell that way. Virtual teaching is extremely difficult, and I work in High School. I can't imagine what the elementary teachers who teach virtually are going through right now. We need as much patients from the parents as we can get right now. Email, or call, your child's teacher and tell them your concerns. Do not go above their heads because most things can be settled easily if you just contact the teacher. Good luck to you and your child this year.

Other schools aren’t being as careful as we are. We haven’t even had a true scrimmage yet, whereas some schools (UGA for sure) have had two. Quarantine lasts for two weeks so those 44 guys that’re our right now are going to miss two weeks of practice. Season is less than three weeks away
Once again our pansy admin shoots ourselves in the foot...🤬

That does seem to be the plan. What a poop show right now.
I've been all for virtual learning. Fortunately for us my wife stays home. Everyone talks about impact on kids, it's tough on Momma's as well.

I think you've gotta give option either or. Still have no idea why we havent done hybrid system, ie meet on site three days in smaller classes, deep clean other two days, social distance, wear masks.

We think our oldest has ADD. Which, this has actually been good. She's getting her stuff done, everyday.

Going to look at real data from school in a week or so and make some real decisions. We will talk to the teacher and principal directly, and no one else.

I overheard some elementary school teachers stressing on the playground this weekend. Basically said coming up with ways for the kids to learn virtually on top of keeping up with Zoom links and calls from worn out parents is impossible. Teachers are in a tough spot.

Actually it’s a really big deal for someone that is having their first child AND for a family which on one side has no grandkids yet. So thinking before you speak is appreciated and legitimately misunderstanding reasoning for something before handing out an opinion won’t be an issue. Hell yes I’m sensitive about it. Life long dream being fulfilled.
Love you, but I hate all this cheezy overblown garbage..I told my boy when they were going to find out pick up the dang phone and call me when you know.

Now...get off my lawn...

I highly doubt they will keep the trace players quarantined for 14 days. Maybe 48 hrs then get a test..

I will say if they actually do have to stay in for 14 days just from tracing, we might not be able to even field a team some games. If we can , team will have significantly less practice time than the oppenent.

We had one with our first. It was a lot of fun. Really just a nice excuse to get family and friends together for a few hours. Have some good food. Then the reveal. No presents or big fuss. Simple and fun.

Last week I was poking around SC fan sites and, as was the case leading up to fall camp by analysts outside of SC, their fans seem to have coalesced around the consensus that they’re not going to have much of an offense. They correctly are concerned about their offensive line, one of these least talented group of linemen in the entire conference. They’re concerned about not having a single proven running back and they’re very much down on their receiving corp. They’re not sure they even have a quarterback which I agree with. Ryan and Luke would be starting out in year one of Bobo’s system so that is a huge disadvantage and Collin who came with Bobo from CSU is not an SEC QB. There’s not a single other team in the SEC where Collin could get on the field, not even Vanderbilt. Collin’s one claim to playing time is that he sort of knows Bobo’s system. jmo.

Pruitt returns a ton of production on his defense. These are guys who have proven that they know how to play in his defense, they know the right way to do things, and they have developed a pretty good understanding of why they need to play the way Pruitt and Company teach. I don’t think missing some practices is going to be as big a deal as some SC fans think it might be for us. It makes a whole lot more difference if you are missing practice with a lot of young guys who don’t know anything yet or if you’re trying to install a new system in that year. We’re doing neither. By some measures we’re returning 18 starters on both sides of the ball so it’s obviously not exactly the same.

We’re returning at least 10 offensive linemen who already know our system and they’re one of the top 2 most talented groups at that position in the entire conference. We return our top 2 running backs, and Brandon Johnson and Josh Palmer are 2 returning guys with lots of starting experience. We have a lot of young talent to supplement those guys at the receiver position. I think TE will be by committee and I think we’ll be better at QB, while SC will likely struggle at QB for many of the same reasons we did last year.

SC’s pass defense was 12th in the conference last year and having lost the interior of their defensive line I’m not expecting them to be world beaters at stopping the run this year, not right out of the gate, and most especially not against our offensive line. Tracy Rocker said in a recent media appearance that the biggest issue with their defensive line right now is they are having to coach effort so in rebuilding that unit they are on first base.

As a bonus, Bill Connelly of SP+ fame, on September 1st downgraded the SC offense from #79 to #81, I think after 2 of their better candidates for WR elected to opt out of the 2020 season. And while Gibbs disappointed many here, myself included, his decision didn’t have the same effect on us. In fact Connelly bump our offense up a few notches, from #56 to #50. Connelly also bumped up our defense to now 6th best in the nation.

It’s just my opinion but I continue to think Florida will struggle this year. I think Auburn will struggle on offense. I think LSU is going to crash this year. I’m not sold on A&M or Kentucky. Connelly dropped the Alabama defense to #19, 8th best in the conference. I think Georgia will likely struggle on offense for all the obvious reasons. Most of all I think our offense will likely turn out to be underrated coming into kickoff, owing mostly to the fact that we have continuity at the offensive coordinator position, something a number of our opponents are lacking. Even with the loss of practice time for some of our guys, I think we have enough returning experience to take care of the first couple of cupcakes on our schedule, South Carolina and Missouri, and we should be in pretty good shape by the time we head into Athens on 10/10. jmo.

I think the reason I hate that crap is because it started out another celebrity "look at me, and how important we are" thing...and I hate those freakin aholes...

I am a simple man..

My wife is teaching virtually from home. I think she is doing a great job of making the best out of a crap situation. However, she teaches in high school which is much easier in a virtual setting than in an elementary school.
I should state that my kids are in North Carolina and not Tennessee. Also, keeping a 9yr olds attention span for almost 8 hrs on a computer is a lot to ask. On top of that there is little interaction. So.... yeah.

I’m sure it varies teacher to teacher.

Wife has contacted the teacher. Teacher never answered her back. Again, it’s a joke over here in this portion of North Carolina. I even sat in and listened to one of his classes and the teacher was going so fast I couldn’t even keep up. I looked over at my son and said do you even know where you are at right now? It wasn’t good. Again, I understand not all teachers are this way I’m just saying Online learning is dumb for children not in Middle or High School.

My children - 1st and 3rd grade - are doing virtual learning. It's been going well so far. Their teachers have been amazing. It's not ideal, but we are all making the best of it. Hopefully it will get better for you. It's not a good sign that the teacher isn't communicating with you though.

I want to go to the Maryville vs Alcoa game on Friday. Those of you who know area fb, what do I need to know? Where do I park? What time should I plan to get there to reasonably avoid traffic and parking problems? What else? Game starts at 7:30.

Chizzlevol, I feel you! Here in Wake County my 1st grade boys elective is art. And day one the teacher stated she did not wants lines at the top showing sky and land, she wanted to see horizonal lines (where ground meets sky), remember these are 6 year olds and this was the kids first experience with art! F COVID 19!!!!

Is it an older teacher? I've been hearing that a lot of the older teachers are pretty much throwing in the towel when it comes to virtual teaching.

Hey guys and gals,

I posted an updated(s) on Drew’s campaign. Also increased the target amount to help with some unplanned expenses. Please consider giving if you haven’t, or share with your circles, and definitely pray. Drew begins his first cycle of radiation tomorrow. 🙏🏼 Lord may this work, but His will be done.

We’ve also stumbled across a contact within the AD and should have Fulmer calling my brother’s family real soon for a word of encouragement! Of course, I’ll get any fall camp details I can. GB🍊

Healing for Drew!, organized by Scott Warren
Praying for Drew today, radiation masks are scary at first. 🙏

I think the biggest question for us is which of our position groups have have been missing practices.

If the young linebackers, safeties and WR’s have been practicing then I think we’ll be in good shape with the amount of experience we have at the other position groups.

If you don’t already have tickets I wouldn’t bother going. That game is packed every year and with limited capacity it’s probably been sold out for a while.

Yeah my kid is in the Wake County school district as well. I’m not a fan of Online Schooling for young children. I get it for health reasons but teachers might as well just assign homework with guidelines and have the kids just turn it in. Because that would be more beneficial then what they are currently doing.
