We will. I take that as coach speak...considering we have video of 1 throw (i know just 1) but that one throw was the exact same crap he did last year..mif rather have seen him over throw the guy..at least then it show some anticipation of leading the wr
I guess we will find out in a few weeks. Maybe we will get a sample size that is a little larger. I do find it interesting that everyone has said he has improved greatly. At least the added muscle might help him to survive a little longer if he falls back into old habits.

JJ Peterson could very well be a career special teams player and "scrub time" linebacker. Hey, nothing wrong with that. As long as he plays hard (which he seems to when he's on the field), goes to class, stays out of trouble, and represents the team and the University in a positive light off the field, I consider that a win. He was a signing day "victory" for the coaching staff who came in far too late to make any inroads in recruiting that first year and he didn't live up to his high school hype. He isn't the first and he certainly won't be the last.
If he cannot make the rotation at Lb , he should be switched to Rb. I know he can make the rotation there.

Weinke did say that JGs anticipation was hell of a lot better compared to last year. Hopefully its not coach talk. We will find out in 23 days.

It will be interesting to see how short of a leash the coaches have on him this year. Hopefully, we won't have to find out.

JG has always gotten practice accolades, but that hasn't translated into improvements on game day.

There's always hope that the game will finally slow down for him after so many years, we'll find out on the 26th.

That is true. Maybe this year he can forgo remembering the new vernacular and be able to visualize the play during the game better. It would really bite for me if I had to relearn everything I learned about the playbook every year.

My thing is 2 years in a system helps with language....but no matter what its called. .an 10 yard out is thrown the same way whether it called that or something different....

Also as the season went he actually regressed in is 1st 3 FBS opponents vs his last 3...

So how does know that a comeback is now called a hitch will stop himbfrom chucking 5 yards over our wr head??

My friends, seems like much is being read into somebody's recent position change. 1. We know that during normal times, CJP likes to move folks around to try them at different positions, sometimes moving back where they were. 2. Often this happens in the spring, but we didnt have that, so this is the next best time. 3. But these are not normal times, and in addition to typical season injuries, we have real possibility of guys going into quarantine or even opting out, so more reason to cross-train. 4. And especially at LB, coach has said he would ...

... like all 4 LBs to know all 4 positions ... so ILBs would need some time at OLB.

They switched him to outside linebacker and that is seen by outsiders as acknowledgement from the coaches he can't beat out the others. It is also a bit of a setback I from a learning perspective.

It's also a position he can play better. He was slowed at MLB because of the decisions required after reading offense.

As a pure edge rusher, he could do well in that regard.

From D. Ubben, The Athletic

Stock up
-Jalin Hyatt
-Malachi Wideman
-K'Rojhn Calbert
-Jahmir Johnson
-Jeremy Banks
-Guarantano-> quicker decisions and accuracy

Stock down
-Harrison Bailey-> missed a lot of practice time
-Deangelo Gibbs
-JJ Peterson

Everything I have read was that Bailey was doing great in his first three practices, so I wouldn't put his stock down.

Also Strout has had a great camp and should be considered a "Stock up" person.
Maurer on the other hand is a "Stock Down" player as a lingering hamstring issues has slowed and limited him greatly.
Add Lawrence to Stock up as he is pushing starters at Safety.
Also add Bumphus and Fant as they are doing great at DE and TE.

So by your emoji you feel that it is impossible that a QB can improve when they actually have the same coaches two years in a row?
don't think I said that. the emoji was based on, "I've heard this before.":)

Yea I hope we don't have to find out as well but I would assume the leash would be short. Obviously that depends on how well JT, BM, or HB are progressing. I'm choosing to be optimistic and believe JG will be better. Hell I hope so anyway.

To be fair we have only seen a VERY small amount of footage. Chaney, who doesn't blow smoke, also said JG has looked way more comfortable this year, in year two of his system.
All these reports sound good, but the story with JG has always been looks better than all the other QBs in practice by far but fizzles under the bright lights with inconsistent play. So it's hard to know how much to believe preseason hype about him. I hope the hype all pans out in actual play, but Im taking a wait 'n see attitude.

Most of it I heard on the radio yesterday and this morning. In Ansley's presser he gave a shout out to KGjr.
Cool! George is a great story. Swain floating around the Bumphus and Butler accolades but you have to wonder how much of this involves the unknown around Middleton and Solomon.

Is the writer specifically TN only or is he "generic"?

He may be riding the pine because the other LBs are playing at a higher level. Some times you never know when it's going to kick in or they're going to bust.
So, I'm a paying member of several sites. David Ubben is the UT football correspondent for the Athletic, a pay site. I'm also someone who pays for the Rivals UT info. I got spanked last week for posting too much from that site. I can only give so such or it gets yanked. Don't blame the writers, it's what I can try and give (without a chain, so to speak). BTW, the Pride of the Southland Band saw its stock fall, for obvious reasons. Enjoy, pro football in just over a week. I think this clears the overseers.

Agree with your assessment of his role for the future. However, he doesn't play hard. If you watched him when they put him in against Bama because of the Bituli ejection, he loafed all over the field. It's one thing to not know what to do, another to not go balls out.

Fair enough. Still doesn't undercut the reasons that I projected on why the author of the article said he was a faller.
