No shot at the kid, but how could JJ Peterson’s stock drop?
They switched him to outside linebacker and that is seen by outsiders as acknowledgement from the coaches he can't beat out the others. It is also a bit of a setback I from a learning perspective.

Could be.but the kid is actually a pretty natural pass rusher. However its crowded on the outside too. Bennett, Harrison, Johnson, Joseph, Baron...

JJ Peterson could very well be a career special teams player and "scrub time" linebacker. Hey, nothing wrong with that. As long as he plays hard (which he seems to when he's on the field), goes to class, stays out of trouble, and represents the team and the University in a positive light off the field, I consider that a win. He was a signing day "victory" for the coaching staff who came in far too late to make any inroads in recruiting that first year and he didn't live up to his high school hype. He isn't the first and he certainly won't be the last.

Great points in bold.

To be fair we have only seen a VERY small amount of footage. Chaney, who doesn't blow smoke, also said JG has looked way more comfortable this year, in year two of his system.
He said he was comfortable last year.....he can know the play book inside and out...but if he cant lead a wr..then its all for nothing

Weinke did say that JGs anticipation was hell of a lot better compared to last year. Hopefully its not coach talk. We will find out in 23 days.
We will. I take that as coach speak...considering we have video of 1 throw (i know just 1) but that one throw was the exact same crap he did last year..mif rather have seen him over throw the guy..at least then it show some anticipation of leading the wr

I agree with you. Tee had some very good things to say about him on yesterdays interview.
I’m sure you’ve seen it, but his highlight reel (doing all his flips and dunks) just got me excited about his athleticism. It reminded me of a bigger version of adoree Jackson.

Is the writer specifically TN only or is he "generic"?

He may be riding the pine because the other LBs are playing at a higher level. Some times you never know when it's going to kick in or they're going to bust.

Expectations vs. reality?
I agree, but this far into it I think expectations have to be adjusted. It’s not like he was a starter that’s been beaten out. He’s a project that’s struggled to see the field his first 2 seasons.

Impressive that he's able to discern all this from zoom calls.
