Most great games takes years to develop. Madden needs a new game every year.... no possible way to have a complete new game every year.

Not asking for a new game, just iterative improvements. They reuse the same engine for 5-10 years at a time. Also nothing says they have to start development of 2022s game only after 2021 releases.

2k releases a superior NBA product each year. MLB The Show is a vastly superior product with a yearly cycle. Assassin's Creed and COD drop a product yearly.

EA got fat and complacent in the absence of competition. Now it's time for the market to show them its displeasure. Hopefully that happens this year and we can get some decent football games going forward.

They just have no incentive anymore. Hire junior programmers to rehab code, optimize speed, beyond that there isn't much to do.

Then you have bugs, to no one's surprise, but there's zero competition and a huge barrier-to-entry when you figure brand value and market share dominance. Nobody wants to challenge EA, so they sit pretty, increase margins, and dgaf about quality. Like any monopoly.

It's sort of a joke at this point. Pay $60 each year for the same game with new rosters...gfy. People still play ncaa14 with passion and the community updates things. No worse off.

I rarely buy a game that I can't mod which eliminates a lot of games like this from the start although occasionally a singleplayer game that isn't open to modding will catch my eye and I'll buy it *if* it has enough other things going for it. EA and other triple A houses are selling games like this as a service/subscription even the smallest amount of online or multiplayer play has become an excuse to tack on an endless amount hassle for the user with very little benefit. It's the MMO model and while there are some really fun things about MMOs the whole game as a service/sub model that some of them use isn't one of those things (nor are aggressive micro transactions or p2w tactics). BUT as long as people keep plopping down 60 dollars for what amounts to a roster update nothing will change. EA will milk Madden to death but I don't see Rockstar or Ubisoft doing any better with it and that's where a title like Madden ultimately ends up.

The NFLPA agreed to exclusivity on licensing and that eliminated a lot of the competition straight away. There aren't many other games that Madden has to compete with and the ones that do exist are indirect or generic.

So UK has a bunch of those "fans" that threaten to never watch another game because players care deeply about something? Color me not shocked.

They are the absolute worst.
When you have disagreement with the players over the scope and context of this "caring deeply" then this is what you get.

A lot of us are sick of this race baiting bull💩.

Not the best situation from the plane to the mound. This is a throw away year. I don't see the point of trades this year, keep the prospects work the off season. I think our GM knows what he is doing.
True about Milone pitching right off the plane. If it’s a throw away year, then why not get some prospects valuable experience? Could have played Pache a lot when Acuna was on IL.

AC feels rididuclously old fashioned in a lot of ways because of that yearly push. I just finished Odyssey and while I enjoyed it, it also felt thoroughly mediocre. If it had a normal development cycle like some of the better RPGs and singleplayers have it would've been a much better game. Instead it's more of a fun throwaway game twith too much pointless grinding that could be much more than it is. I'd love to see what AC would be like under a house like CDProjektRed or even Arkane (see Dishonored).

So pumped for CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077. Do you think we see Elder Scrolls 6 before 2025?

True. I enjoyed Origins due to the vast changes, but never felt drawn to Odyssey. Not sure if I'm excited for Valhalla. Shame since all of these are awesome locales and times for an AC title. Plus the lack of Modern Day tie-in with Desmond/Lucy/Shaun/Rebecca.

No doubt Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be great when it's released, and I was one that was fearful that it wouldn't be because so much is riding on it for CDPR, but it looks amazing. IDK when we're going to get another TES. Zenimax has been milking ESO and god-knows-how-many-skyrim-releases for a while as a substitute but that can't last forever. They've always been slow with TES games though. I'm just hoping I'm still alive when that one comes out.

Per Basilio, UT is internally having to convince Middleton and Solomon from opting out.

We can’t afford to lose those guys on top of Gooden. Without real DL depth and experience SEC teams will run all over us.

Some of you $$$ guys need to make sure they get something for their trouble this year.

I hope Zenimax and Bethesda have learned from the Fallout 76 debacle and don’t taint ES6 with that voodoo. I don’t want multiplayer shoehorned into a mainline Elder Scrolls game. Also, are you going to play Starfield?
