I caught H1N1 a week after recovering from flu. Between the two, I got an ear infection that blew out my eardrums and the swine flu pushed my fever over 104. Eardrum didn't regenerate due to the fever and I had to have reconstructive surgery on it. That flu sucked. I was in 8th grade.
That’s horrible. I’m glad for you and for your family, that you fought it off.I lost about 25-30 lbs over that six-seven week stretch. I developed a horrible lung infection directly because of the H191 that left about 15% of my left lung and 5% of my right lung scarred. I also got a bad ear infection during that stretch, but I don't know what it did as far as permanent damage to them as I never went back to follow up after the three runs of antibiotics and finally getting better. I do know I don't hear as well and I have a problem with getting water in my ears when swimming, so I use ear plugs which I never did before.
H1N1 and the other strains of flu are all still here, and they still kill people with regularity despite vaccines...so it will be with Covid.
