I'd take a starting 5 of LeBron, Durant, Kawhi, Harden, and Anthony Davis over any 5 dudes from the Dream Team. The increase over time of shooting ability/range, strength, and positional versatility will overcome the "softness" of the modern game. Nostalgia can blind you. If you think that NBA players as a whole were better in the 90s than they are now, you don't watch enough basketball.

I don't think this is special to basketball. The best players now will beat the best players from 20 years ago in any sport. There's just been too much progress in conditioning, specialized skills training, nutrition, and the sheer fact that modern players use the previous generations to build their skill levels. Any decreased physicality from games modernizing, whether for safety concerns or to favor scoring, isn't enough to negate all the other advancements that the last 20 years have blessed us with.

That much progress in conditioning, training and skills in 20 years? Not buying it...

They keep hiring terrible coaches and proving that they do not want to spend the money and time to make soccer great. When we took a year to hire our last coach, I knew we didn’t care about soccer. He is worse than our last coach.
I agree, but I don’t understand why. Do they not see the economic possibility of having an elite national team??? Soccer’s popularity is growing in the and they could profit IMMENSELY with a run deep in the WC. They’d be building a money printing machine!

Gibbs may decide to come back like that Vandy player.

Wish we could know how many players have covid. Like how much does it take for them to cancel a practice?

Guess its good we are getting a little outbreak out of the way.
Sounds like there were other issues for him sitting out. Not Covid related imo. Although I know that’s what was reported.

VN, I need your T&PS. My oldest, my daughter, is getting married tomorrow. I realize this pales in comparison to #liftupdrew but throw some good juju ole InVol's way if you can spare a moment.

Congratulations! Make sure to ugly cry as much as you can tonight at the rehearsal dinner so you don’t get all snotty tmrw! 😃

AP said this week we get one of Mims, Mondon, TID, or Green.

My top choice is Mims but I’m guessing TID or Green.

AP did say like 10 seconds after that “and maybe (land) all four” (talking about Mondon, mims, green, and TID) 👀👀👀

It was hard to hear cause Brent was talking at the time

Oh how wonderful that would be 😈

Agreed! I have zero clue. We have way too many athletes to not be better at soccer.

Best is Jordon. Second best is Earvin Johnson. There's a reason he's called Magic. People put too much emphasis on scoring and ignore other aspects of the game. Magic Johnson was the ultimate adapter. He could and would play any position on the floor that he was asked to play.

The biggest difference between basketball now and basketball back then is mental toughness. There's some crazy physical talent in today's league, but none of them seem to possess the mental toughness that players used to have. About the closest I've seen is James Harden.

But that's JMO.
Kobe is firmly in the #2 spot
Followed closely by Jackie Moon at #3

According to 247's top 10 players in Tn, Tn has 2 of the 10 committed, none of the top 4.
7 out of the top 10 are committed elsewhere with only one undecided. Why is Tn doing so poorly in-state?
According to 247 GA has #2,7,9 in the top ten of GA. FL has #7 in their top 10. AL has #2 and 8. Not sure what point you were trying to make.

Not only did it take a year to hire Greg Berhalter (who was a terrible choice), but one of the highest ranking executives in the U.S. Soccer Federation (who was in charge of the hiring) is Greg's brother Jay Berhalter.
