The major problem with 5-day tests is lag. If there is even 1 positive, it keeps spreading, then unless you are 100% with tracing, the outbreak can continue after the results.

I'd guess any number of positives, given the lag, could constitute good reason to cancel practice until they have a handle on it.
Did not realize they had a 5 day lag with knowing test results.

Tony B said earlier today he would be surprised if they didn’t cancel practice. He indicated multiple guys in the Oline group are positive.

Now if we could just make the World Cup every time. Our lackluster national team saddens me. Imo we could be really good if we had the right developmental structures. Belgium is #1 in the world right now and has the population of Ohio.
The USMNT Soccer baffles me!

The world has caught up to the US in basketball over the last 30 years, but the US still lags WAY behind the world in soccer. And it’s absolutely because of developmental structure.

The US needs more players in the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga to be challenged to raise their games.

That could have changed, but was reported awhile back. I guess they were the most accurate (?).

I feel like they need a mix of those, but also much quicker tests, even if done multiple times, to curb breakouts quickly.
Yeah that one is likely better than the antibody one, which has had the false positive issues.

The antibody one is most reliable when the person is actually a little sick. Has issues with the asymptomatic cases. Could still help in the short term to get ahead of the long term tests.

Sounds like not a crazy amount overall, luckily. Just being very proactive. Love it.
Pruitt: It's not that there are a ton of positive tests. It's just a higher number than usual, and we need to figure out why.

Yup... I used to buy the "our athletes play other sports" excuse, but when the #1 team in the world has a mere 11 million people and the best player in the world from the US is a mere 5'8"...it doesn't add up. It doesn't help, but we should still be far more competitive. If we had the youth/developmental structure and less "pay to play" (pushing out a ton of lower and even middle class kids) I think we could take the next step.

I've heard different avenues on how to get there. Some very pro-domestic structure, others very pro-"send all our talent to Europe asap" like happened with Pulisic. I don't know the answers, but I'd love to see some progress on any front.

Gibbs can sit.

I trust Palmer, Brandon Johnson, Tillman and Keyton. Plus the bevy of talented freshman coming in.

I still like where our receiving group is.

Lots of people forget about Brandon Johnson. I like him to be a complimentary reliable senior target this season. Like a Bobby Graham or Josh Smith.

Im not a huge soccer fan, but I enjoy watching the US in the WC when it comes around. It also confuses me why we are so bad.

Not only that but the frustration in our local health department is this: person comes into contact with a positive person, gets tested within a day and test comes back negative. 5 days later, person shows symptoms and tests positive and had been in contact with many others because the first one came back negative.

I'd take a starting 5 of LeBron, Durant, Kawhi, Harden, and Anthony Davis over any 5 dudes from the Dream Team. The increase over time of shooting ability/range, strength, and positional versatility will overcome the "softness" of the modern game. Nostalgia can blind you. If you think that NBA players as a whole were better in the 90s than they are now, you don't watch enough basketball.

I don't think this is special to basketball. The best players now will beat the best players from 20 years ago in any sport. There's just been too much progress in conditioning, specialized skills training, nutrition, and the sheer fact that modern players use the previous generations to build their skill levels. Any decreased physicality from games modernizing, whether for safety concerns or to favor scoring, isn't enough to negate all the other advancements that the last 20 years have blessed us with.

They keep hiring terrible coaches and proving that they do not want to spend the money and time to make soccer great. When we took a year to hire our last coach, I knew we didn’t care about soccer. He is worse than our last coach.

I wouldn't because Harden doesn't pass the ball. LOL.

I think the quickest way to develop elite players is send them to Europe, but also make the sport open to a wider range of kids in the US like you said. Could you imagine a defenseman with the size and athleticism of Lebron James (yeah I said it) or a striker with the speed/quickness of Tyreek Hill?
