The Republican Convention Thread

Democrats have alot of early similarities to the nazi party of Germany. Does that make them nazis?

If neo-nazis organize a rally for Trump and the night before those same organizers do a march with tiki torches shouting anti-Semitic chants, do you join them the next morning in their Trump rally since you too support Trump?

The "good people" joining the neo-nazis in Charlottesville knew exactly what those neo-nazis stood for and did the night before. They could have easily said "yes, I believe those statues should stand, but I don't want my view to be conflated with the neo-nazis, so I'm sitting this one out and will express my views later or in another way." But they didn't do that. They had no issues with joining forces with the neo-nazis to "save" some statues. That tells you a lot, doesn't it?

Hes talking about people that showed up to protest the removal that werent supremacist or neo nazis. He clarified this. You're choosing to ignore it. Why? idk. People who want a statue to remain arent automatically racist and to suggest they are is an indictment on your ability or should I say inability to think critically. To many people the war wasnt about what you claim it to be about. To many people their ancestors died fighting for what they believed in and no that isnt automatically racism.

You left the clarification out of your post. Typical. Thankfully my post has it for others review.
It's obvious that's what Trump was referencing. Sometimes I think people like the keep saying the opposite in hopes that it will be accepted.

Not every protester is out for trouble. Not every cop is hostile towards a different race. Not everyone there that day had bad intentions. Some wanted to protest. Some wanted to counter protest. But unfortunately there will be troublemakers taking advantage. It was actually kinda refreshing to hear a politician not deal in absolutes for a change.

Couldn't the protestors against police brutality be labeled as rioters and looters in the same context then? Why wouldn't they sit out if they knew it'll turn into a riot because rioters are present? After all they share a view with rioters, black Israelites, antisemites, etc.

Anyone showing up to protest the removal of the white, racist, treasonous Robert E. Lee is a... wait for it... wait for it...

Basket of deplorables.

Yeah, Trump is so racist that you have to resort to twisting the truth to convince yourself.

Twisting? Wake up man.

Tell me if his language sounds eerily similar...

He was a racist then, and remains a racist today.

Trump Will Not Apologize for Calling for Death Penalty Over Central Park Five

“You have people on both sides of that,” the president said when asked about the wrongly convicted defendants.

In 1989, Mr. Trump placed full-page advertisements in four New York City newspapers, including The New York Times, calling for the state to adopt the death penalty for killers. He made clear that he was voicing this opinion because of the rape and assault of Trisha Meili, a woman who had been jogging in Central Park.

“I want to hate these murderers and I always will,” Mr. Trump wrote in the May 1989 ad. “I am not looking to psychoanalyze or understand them, I am looking to punish them.”

He wrote in all caps: “Bring back the death penalty and bring back our police!”

At the time, Mr. Trump was an up-and-coming real estate developer, but the advertisements attracted widespread attention.

The five teenagers were wrongfully convicted and sentenced to prison for gang-raping and nearly killing Ms. Meili.

They said the police had coerced them into confessing to a crime they did not commit. Their convictions were vacated in 2002, and the city paid $41 million in 2014 to settle their civil rights lawsuit.

Barry Scheck, a founder of the nonprofit Innocence Project who was part of a team of lawyers who worked with prosecutors to reinvestigate the Central Park Five case, called Mr. Trump’s response disturbing.

“It’s shocking and deeply troubling that after all of these years, he would not have recognized that by calling for the reinstitution of the death penalty, it contributed to an atmosphere that deprived these men of a fair trial,” Mr. Scheck said.

The Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., said in a statement on Tuesday that the men “were wrongfully convicted and what happened to them was an injustice.”

Watch the video FFS.

Did you miss where he asks the press about George Washington and a Thomas Jefferson owning slaves? Asking if removing statues of Washington and Jefferson was next.

Put his comments into context. He is talking about the people protesting removing the Lee statue because they did not want a piece of history destroyed.

Destroying history isn’t progress. It’s weak-minded virtue signaling.

Curious. If you were black and you had relatives that were slaves in this country, how would you feel about a statue dedicated to a man who not only committed treason against our country, but also fought a war against our country to continue slavery of your family?

EVERY STATUE OF RACIST TREASONOUS CONFEDERATE GENERALS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED.

You want your racist idols in a museum somewhere? Knock yourself out. But if you protest their removal, you support racism. Period.

The Indians called and want the state you live in back . They said they want everything associated with “ the white men “and “ the black man “ removed immediately, they also want reparations from day one .

Might is right eh. Pathetic.

You’re a weak-minded brainwashed robot.

Anyone who questions or disagrees with you is a racist.

Remove all history. History is racist.

Removing a statue of racists doesn't change history, it only removes an object that idolizes racists.

See: Holocaust museum.

I got no issue if some jerkwads feel compelled to keep these statues in a museum.

You are in North Carolina right ? Indian country for sure , look around you how much white man / black man do you have going on right now around you ? Everything you see the Indian owned at one time . What have you done to give up all you have back to the Indians ? 😊

Statues kind of freak me out a little no matter who they are.

So, by your logic, removing racist statues equates to the United States being obligated to give all lands back to the native Indians.

Mmmmmmkay.

This isn't about whether the protests turn violent. It's about ideology. If a squad a paraplegic Nazis had a rally for Trump, would you join?

I asked you another question you refuse to answer . Seems to be a theme with you . Have you ever spoken to a Native American about how they feel about you taking their land ? You like to pick and choose a lot what you get cranked up over . I’m just giving you some perspective.
