If only he’d been a counterfeiting felon who put a gun to the stomach of a pregnant woman during a home invasion, he’d have his millions in gofundeme, gold casket, and the burning down iof entire cities in his good name.

Isn't that what happens every time a white person kills a black person? It doesn't matter what the real motive is, all we hear is "racism" and "injustice" and "hate crime". Truth takes a backseat to race in those situations. So why is it okay to assume racism whenever the victim is black and the perpetrator white, but wrong to assume racism when the victim white and the perpetrator black? Honestly, I don't think either assumption helps the conversation on race. The only way we get anywhere is for all sides to face ugly truths. Not all crimes are motivated by race, no matter the skin color of the victim or the perpetrator.

All that said, it's sad that so much of the MSM has ignored this story. It's hard not to assume part of the reason is the races of those involved. And I'm not saying this should be covered because I think racism is involved, I'm saying that violence against children deserves as much, if not more, attention than any other kind of violence. No one is as innocent as the children. And I don't care what color that child's skin is, any time a child is killed, it's the worst kind of tragedy conceivable in my opinion.

Murder of one civilian by another? You can't be that callous. We're talking about the murder of an innocent child. Society should absolutely be outraged about that.

Wow. I'm honestly at a loss on how dismissive you are at the death of a five year old. I'm not sure I can properly express the contempt that I feel for you right now into words. This isn't about politics or racism or anything more than a 5yo child was needlessly, violently taken from this world. How can anyone not be outraged, saddened, confused, hurt by this? A 5yo child??!! It makes me feel physically ill thinking about it. And you make such a cold, callous remark? I pity you. Seriously, I do. If you can be this dismissive of a child being killed, something is broken inside of you.

There are all kinds of injustices in this world, and they all deserve to have a spotlight shone upon them. But nothing, NOTHING, compares to injustices visited upon children. I'm sorry, but if you dismiss this as un-newsworthy, I question your humanity.

Politics has displaced God for even evangelicals, as it was unconscionable to imagine someone like Trump garnering evangelical support 20 years ago when Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about a BJ. And I don't buy the crap about "it was him or Hillary" because there was a republican primary with many other viable candidates who were much more reasonable and morally upstanding than Trump.

It's sad that a 5-yr-old who was tragically murdered like this is being used as a political football. If I were this boy's father I would not want his death to be used to score political points.

Democrats could have chosen a better candidate as well but failed to do so. I say that to say this, both sides are to blame. Neither Hillary nor Trump should have been legitimate candidates. I'm not a fan of trying to assign more blame to one side than the other. The simple truth is both parties failed us with poor choices, and have done so again with this next election. Both sides should be held accountable, not one singled out.

No major party has the high ground here. Tragic events have universally become political footballs where we sit around and point fingers at how the other side would behave if the shoe were on the other foot.
