SEC still planning on playing season.

I think a lot of this is irrational but there are 150k dead.
I've said before that I don't buy that total deaths number. The "COVID deaths" in my city stand at 14, and they all come from one facility- a hospice center. There was a whole lot of weird going on around testing those people, too, but that's another story.

Oops. 163k

And will be assuredly more with a CFB season than without it.

This virus has brought out the "I'm not going to die so why should my life be inconvenienced. What is this a socialist country?" crowd out of the woodwork.

We all love CFB but now is not the time.

Prove it right. You cant.

To start off I studied Public Health for 6 years and have my Masters in it. But let's forget about that because this is common sense.

We have 163k deaths and many active cases in this country.

Now common sense dictates, more contact=more cases. More cases=more deaths.

Even if you consider that these are younger adults, they have parents and grandparents who raise them and they constantly interact with. Not to mention fans.

Testing while it definitely helps isnt 100% accurate, therefore even if they test negative...They could still very well be spreading it.

And again, them playing does not automatically make them more susceptible to getting it. Rather, it incentiveses players to be more responsible with who they come in contact.

Why is 'they might give it to granny'! A good argument?? Most everyone is socially distancing from vulnerable people and have been.

I stay away from my granny because of this and she does from me. We access the risk and move on with life. I dont believe in the fear and I'm not like "I'm coming over anyway granny!!" She doesn't believe in the fear and she is perfectly capable of restricting her contact from people.

If they are tackling each other? If they are in locker rooms together?

How are we socially distancing on the field?

There would be no statistically significant difference in death toll whether this ramped down college football season happens or not.

Thus, your statement was assinine.

There absolutely will be but I'm glad to see that many conferences are shutting down and listening to the experts and not some keyboard warrior.

The testing will ensure that they are safer than they otherise would be.

They will be outside. Far less likely to pass it and if they do have it they will be asymptomatic at best as you can assure nobody actually sick will be allowed near anybody.

Furthermore. How can you allow opry Mills Mall be open with thousands coming in and out all day and not allow a few dozen players to play outside and they are the least likely to die. As a matter of fact none have died.

Seriously though, young people in general are not socially distancing very well in general right now. That's why the cases have spread so much over the last few months

So you think one of the players/coaches/staff will die if there is a college football season?

Testing is beneficial but there are still false negatives/positives.

If this was Tennis this might be different, doesn't matter much when you are in a pile of people trying to recover a fumble or make a tackle.

You are right, it probably shouldn't be open. But making 1 stupid move doesn't justify making another.

Some are, some aren't. Old people are just as bad (in fact the young people at least believe the science, older people are the Karen's yelling about the masks/muh freedom most often).

So you think one of the players/coaches/staff will die if there is a college football season?

I think at least one person will die directly involved from the staff/athletes. Probably many more.

The additional community spread will be much more dangerous though.

Is that not just the same conjecture and "Karening" you were just complaining about?

No, because increased social activity is clearly linked to increased spread and death.

The only conjecture would be the degree.

And health experts are rather unanimous in the danger it presents even if there isn't a concrete number.

Dude.

By that reasoning we shouldn't be able to have any restaurants or grocery stores opens and we should all be in a bunker.

You really think them running around on a field they will be at more risk of getting compared to just being released in the public where they will be more likely to party and hang out with friends and family on a regular basis?

Them playing will DECREASE their social activity and we shouldn't worry about them if they do get it because THEY WILL NOT DIE

THERE IS NO DATA SUGGESTING THEY ARE AT ANY RISK OF DYING.

They literally have more risk of dying in a car accident, getting murdered, SUICIDE and the seasonal FLU.

Some day they will die, What is the long term effects of having the flu - the same
Does contracting Covid-19 have adverse effects on the human body that would expedite future health issues or contribute to a premature death?...If so or if not so, please explain.

A field where you are making constant physical contact! Are you doing that in a grocery or restaurant? I'm not.

There is a clear difference there. If we can't agree on that, then I'm not sure we can advance in this discussion.

And I'm in my mid 20s. Most of my friends are only seeing family and the closest of friends. We dont need to expand that further since the virus works on an exponential scale of spread.
