Trevor Lawrence made a good point that I really agree with. If universities were not having students on campus and going to class in person, then I would agree with the shutdown of the season. However, they aren't. It's hard to say that playing football is going to expose these guys more than any other normal university activity. I wish that these college administrators would get their principles aligned. Either all students matter and there shouldn't be any in person classes for anyone, or they should play college sports just like they are conducting their normal activities.
I would think that the act of tackling (or being tackled) for 3 hours does expose them more than someone who doesn't play a sport. Obviously, there is no social distancing on the football field.
That said, I think they can give it a try. There will be some bumps and may be a wild ride, but I think it can be attempted.
You are right that football itself is not a big deal. I’m speaking more to a more aggressive “reopening” of life.So we just absolutely have to push forward playing a game of no real life consequences? That’s just a given?
Absolutely. Let's join up. They want to play, the ACC wants to play, lets add those teams who want to play to the SEC and ACC for one year. Whoever wins the SEC side plays the winner of the ACC side for the National Championship. Those schools will profit millions while the scared little crybabies up north and out west go bankrupt.Bring Nebraska and Iowa on down. They want to play. Don’t let those two schools suffer because the other 12 don’t want to play.
We drove..you could fly to Denver and start from there for the same price as SLC. Be warned..the weather in Yellowstone in October is extremely iffy. You may do like we did in mid September 17, and sit there twiddling your thumbs half of every already short fall day you are there waiting for them to open the roads. It really screwed up our trip that we planned and saved up for two years.Did you drive out there or fly? I can't remember. We are looking at flying into SLC and then driving up to Yellowstone.
We could even give Clemson a D1 schedule!Absolutely. Let's join up. They want to play, the ACC wants to play, lets add those teams who want to play to the SEC and ACC for one year. Whoever wins the SEC side plays the winner of the ACC side for the National Championship. Those schools will profit millions while the scared little crybabies up north and out west go bankrupt.
The people I've talked to said if you go after about October 15th you're "playing with fire" because the weather is really crazy. We drove..you could fly to Denver and start from there for the same price as SLC. Be warned..the weather in Yellowstone in October is extremely iffy. You may do like we did in mid September 17, and sit there twiddling your thumbs half of every already short fall day you are there waiting for them to open the roads.
