2020 Presidential Race

I tend to be the most critical of my once great party. I’m not shocked that the other guys are still who I thought they were.

I still believe it’s mostly because we allow our politicians to hold office for so long . No man or woman can stay that close to that much power and wealth , without becoming corrupt .

An important, although well-hidden, portion of that report from Fox News:

"But Democrats say the numbers are still on their side in all three battleground states and point to strong advantages in Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania for their voters to request mail-in or absentee ballots."

Fox News is heavily touting "gains" that Republicans are making, but even they have to acknowledge that Democrats still hold the lead in voter registrations in those states as they normally do. Also, the only one of those "key battleground states" that Joe Biden absolutely must win is Pennsylvania. Fox News's inclusion of North Carolina as a "key battleground state" really says all that you need to know about the uphill climb of the Trump campaign. Joe Biden can easily clear 270 electoral college votes without winning North Carolina. As a matter of fact, as long as Joe Biden wins Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada, then he will win 270 electoral college votes and the election with it.

Joe Biden doesn't need to win North Carolina, Florida or Arizona but he is showing polling leads in all three of those states anyway. The path to 270 electoral college votes is so much clearer and easier for Joe Biden than it is for Donald Trump. There is no way to credibly or intelligently argue otherwise.

Well...you posted multiple times that voting for the lesser evil is unacceptable and then trashed the two main parties so I took that to mean you have a 3rd party candidate that is a good candidate so I was hoping to get a name and learn more about them. As it turns out you could end up doing the very thing you chided others for doing.

What are you even talking about? My entire point is limiting yourself to two options because they are the only “viable” ones is the very definition of the lesser of two evils.

Like I said, I voted Johnson last time. I’ll see what the field looks like this election and do my research.

Joe Biden Leaves the Basement for Delaware Beach House Getaway

Former Vice President Joe Biden spent last weekend at his beach house in Rehoboth, Delaware, as he narrows the list of candidates he might select for vice president, according to NBC News.

The Bidens purchased the six-bedroom, three-story home in 2017, last sold in 2007 for over $3 million. The Bidens earned more than $15 million since leaving the White House, including more than four dozen paid speeches and a multi-million dollar book deal.

Picture is legit. He’s wearing a sweater and the trees in the reflection have no leaves. I’m sure it was taken last weekend.

My point isn’t difficult to follow. I figured someone that was chiding others for voting for a candidate they don’t truly believe in would already have a candidate they believe in 90 days from the election but you don’t. It is what it is but it seems to me you’re in danger of doing the same thing from what I’ve heard of the 3rd party candidates. Maybe you’ll sit it out if you don’t like any of the candidates and maintain this integrity you’ve claimed but someone who clearly wants to send a message to the proponents of a two party system likely won’t sit out when given the chance to vote for someone outside that system to “send a message” if for no other reason. We shall see I suppose.

That’s a well thought out post. Biden doesn’t bother me really on his own. These extremist factions rising in the Dem party do scare me though and I don’t agree with giving illegal immigrants a bunch of free stuff, don’t agree with much of the Green New Deal, don’t believe that reduced police funding is the answer to civil unrest, and more so I can’t vote for the Dem nominee in 90 days or so. If I didn’t vote Republican it would be a 3rd party I support.

Criminal reform is an interesting one for you to list with Trump passing the First Step Act and Biden supporting the 1994 Crime Act. In fact, there’s an entire NYT article from June 2019 about Biden needing to answer for his stance on crime over the years. What’s going to be funny is back in the primaries he tried to distance himself from his record on crime and now he will be trying to run on taking money away from police while at the same time trying to appear as if he is for law and order. It should be fun watching him dance. I suspect at different times he will both supper and denounce his prior record. That’s pretty typical in politics.

I agree with most of your first paragraph. I’m sure I said here and know I said elsewhere that I would not vote for Bernie Sanders, and for many of the same reasons that I cannot support Trump. I think Bernie would be marginally better on very few issues than Trump and marginally worse on many many others. But it’s the angry, populist, purity testing, online bullying, fit-the-facts-to-the-narrative, cult of personality ******** from the base that gives them a pass to abuse executive Power. No thanks.

I see the landslide nomination of Biden as a repudiation of that faction of the party. Biden ran a moderate campaign of reunification with republicans that was never pulled to the left. If Biden was going to totally keel over to leftists, he would have done it when he got crushed by no-name Buttigieg (who ran Biden’s same platform much better than Biden himself did in Iowa) or when Bernie won NH and Nevada, IMO.

What Biden’s record tells me is that he follows the mandate. He authored the crime bill because there was a mandate for it from mainstream dem voters. I think what mainstream dem voters want now is a return to sanity and competence. His responses on defunding the police and tearing down statues have shown that he knows what that mandate is and will say no to the crazies when he needs to.

That has trickled down some, as well and has pulled a few of them away from reading Twitter like it’s real life. Democratic senate candidates in battleground states have been very center-left. Sen. Tammy Duckworth was asked about tearing down a statue of George Washington; initially she said it was a conversation worth having and then later (Probably after a “wtf? VP: 🔥” Text from somebody in the Biden campaign) she walked it back with a pretty firm rebuke.

I’m in favor of anything that pulls either party away from the nuts. For Democrats, the best hope for that is a landslide Biden victory and for Republicans I think it’s also a landslide Biden victory.

Claiming all Dems are blue no matter who is just as faulty as claiming the same thing about Republicans. There are plenty of Democrats who wouldn't vote for Bernie or others if they were the nominee just like there are Republicans who wouldn't vote for Trump. If you want to say there are some who follow the party or the candidate like a cult on each side, I'll have no disagreement with that.
I was specifically referencing the Biden following in the DNC to answer LG. The other candidates lined up behind him, doesn't mean their respective followers will. I try not to paint with broad brushes.

Here in NC... gonna be a big BLUE November.

And can we go back to making our choice for president from people who have been governors?

ya know. People who have proven they can run a state.
Nah... George W. was a disaster. Reality show dimwits are here to stay. There is no going back now.... and besides, Ryan Seacrest deserves his shot.

In a rather odd stance, Trump claims that unlike any other state, mail-in voting is safe and secure in the state of Florida. The Trump campaign is suing the state of Nevada to stop universal mail-in voting. So, what is it about the US Postal Service in Florida, that makes it "safe and secure" as opposed to Nevada... or another state? Could it be, that Trump hasn't taken the time to truly examine the issue, and the only real difference is that Florida is the state where Trump now officially resides? LOL. Trump is such a transparent moron.

Arguing that universal mail-in voting is okay in one state (the state where he just happens to live) but not in another, will likely to prove to be a legal stumbling block for Trump's lawsuit against Nevada. This was incredibly dumb.
