2020 Presidential Race

It would be the end of Trump if he tried. Yes it's (to borrow from Luther) a horrendously despicable idea.
Indeed, this would fall on the way out there portion of the Luther continuum. It didn't help that Trump tweeted it right after the Q2 economic numbers dropped. It is just really bad optics.

Using Hitler as a justification for restricting/preventing people from voting just seems like a weird stance to me.
Of course it is. Using Hitler as an example of voters gone wild is an extreme example. Yet holding up a crazy person committing a mass shooting as evidence that the 2nd Amendment should be rolled back gets done all the time.

We shouldn't stop voting because some people voted for Hitler. We shouldn't take away guns because crazy people commit crimes.

No. It's just a complete fallacy to dismiss the consequences of one right vs another.

Nothing wrong with a bunch of people that support one candiate hanging out at polling places with their guns. Its just not a good look for the candidate, unless that candidate is the Republican, in which case a sizable portion supporting that candidate only would see it as freedom. Tables turned and it becomes a different perspective.

Read the constitution. Restrictions on voting are addressed and perfectly constitutional.

I’m aware. The argument was whether the requirement of taking a gun safety class means we should impose a poll tax bc “all rights should be treated the exact same way”

Neither should be a requirement BUT I have zero problems with requiring IDs or valid reasons for an absentee ballot.

Has Trump thrown in the towel on Michigan?
