Man Prom and high school sports are gonna be pretty thin with all the kids getting "schooled" at home. I have no kids so no horse in the race but how do you teach them socialization? Seems to me the real reason for school is not the book learning since it is pretty poor but learning how to deal with outside influences, bullying, friendships, enemies, loves, etc.

You have more kids. My kids were blessed with their Momma's outgoing personality, as a Daddy it's great to see. Selfishly it's hard, I could spend days alone in woods, and be smiling.

We chose a few core group of friends in school & agreed to take turns with distance learning. Church, school, Mom's are all social creatures, normally. It's actually pretty cool, kids can focus on smaller core groups of friends.

Ehh. Germs are good for you. It's accepted that Covid doesn't transmit from surfaces. That's why it's been safe to order take-out the entire time, even when a lot was shut down. If people go too germaphobe, then they'll wind up with weak immune systems.
Wearing a mask all the time is the perfect way to weaken the immune system. Washing hands is pretty standard imo. I’m not talking about bleaching and hand sanitizing every second but when I leave the restroom I’m going to wash my hands.

Where we at compared to total deaths in 2019.

People need to understand that people die, we don’t live forever. Somewhere along the way that has been lost in all of this COVID-19 talk.

I’ve just never seen people die or severely effected by one certain thing. Sure, people die from all kinds of things.

Herman Cain just passed from it. There is a pretty long list of celebrities or well known people that have died from it. And I’m pretty sure everyone in here understands people die because everyone has family.

All that sounds good learning the warm fuzzies, not so much the bad side of humanity and how to deal with that but I guess we all have to learn it at some point.

I think the world is nasty enough that wearing a mask is not going to weaken the immune system

it isnt home schooling. it's distance learning.

big difference. ie, 1st grader in our area is told to expect 6.5 hours of school time a day. Lunch, recess, all that counts. And, about 1.5 of homework a night.

It is my understanding having several friends that home school that usually go 4-5 hrs a day & follow a different, less strict (meaning go at your own pace) that may or may not be mandated by Tennessee Core Curriculum. For example, I believe they can be involved in a reperatory theater or go take a class 'hiking trip' and call it class time.

Listen, I understand the desire to be best. Math is very important. Not every child will be a engineer. Every one is quick to point the 'uselessness' of a liberal arts education.

European Countries have progressed to point where the artist is held in same esteem as the lawyer. Pay tends to be more spread evenly.

There has to be a happy medium. -Larry David faint - My child doesnt possess the requisite attention span for 6.5 hours a day. I know!

Hold her back, call the shrink!! They took er jorbs!!

She'll be fine.

It doesn’t really matter what I think about masking. Everywhere I’ve went today has required me to wear one. So I need to get one. I’m thinking either the Vols one you’re wearing or maybe this one:

The owner of a local eating establishment posted a sign on the door just prior to reclosing that stated MASKS MATTER.

I don't know, guess to me it all comes down to there's statistical data and studies that show it's helpful. And it's a very easy thing I can do, if it all ends up to be a hoax then I'd have worn a mask... just not that big of a cross to die on for me. 🤷‍♂️
Can you link the studies please

I dont doubt for a second a child can learn enough to do well enough on the SAT to go to home college? I guess I would just be more concerned about their knowledge of the world and being able to cope in it. Those 6.5 hours around peers who think different, act different is what teaches you to deal with different views and recognize good from bad, etc. I see people say they see others at church and softball but aren't you just surrounding them with the like-minded? I'm not trying to be a jerk here, I just find the difference interesting and wonder how parents feel they are bridging that gap as I assume they themselves were not home schooled.

Some kids learn through textbooks, some use experiences to guide them, some just know. Psychology is interesting.

Right now, mine are so young. Their experience in world revolves around their home world. This definitely impacts older kids more I believe.

Business studies now show that Companies hire high EQ people. 20 years ago, folks looked for High IQ. Studies then showed a correlation of success between highly empathic & (High EQ)/High IQ persons relative to just high IQ. Hence, the personality exams you must now take before even beginning application for jobs. My reading also shows a higher degree of financial success for those two traits.

What you're saying holds merit. After all, it's Science.

School is for the birds. Graduated deans list and don’t use a single lick of it. School test your laziness to see if you will actually show up and finish.

Fauci created corona to kill social security collectors. Gates involved as well to experiment on humans with vaccines

Gates can hardly contain his excitement when talking about the virus's effect on the economy:

Seriously, what is that reaction?

He and his wife are also very happy about a second wave/second pandemic:

Most home schooled kids I know are better adjusted to life than products of public schools.

Gotta learn how to stand up to bullies, throw a punch, take a joke, and how to avoid/start trouble!
