Yeah, that guy guy got roasted alive by Vol fans for basically being right when we wanted him to be wrong.
Still remember the environment on 247 when it happened. There was a lot of uproar and even an exodus over it.

What I didn't get was all the hate towards him for anonymous sources...which is basically the lifeblood of good journalism.

What I did get, and agreed with, was the title seemed to blow the negative aspects of the article, which was actually fairly balanced, out of proportion. It seemed intentionally ultra negative.

Outside of the gotcha title, it was a fine article I had no problem with. It sucked to read though.

He was right though. Some didn’t like his delivery but he was right. It’s the classic ā€œdon’t shoot the messengerā€. Vol fans totally ignored it and attacked.

Did the same with Bruce Feldman the following Spring when he said we didn’t look like an SEC team. Vol fans attacked and we went 0-8 in the SEC.

I mean, yeah it isn't their job to coddle anyone, but sometimes it can be intentionally hyperbolic just for clicks. Who was the goon last Fall that said Fulmer was ready to fire Pruitt, takeover the job himself, blah blah blah?

Sometimes they are right, but sometimes they are fantastically wrong and look like fools.

Edit: oh yeah, Pete Thamel...

Uh oh, I’m in trouble. I had my CT scan and bone scan today. I don’t find out the results until tomorrow but the woman doing the CT scan is a UGA fan and I think she’s gonna do me in. I was wearing my UT mask so she knew I’m a Vol fan and said something about it and doing my scan.
When she got to the lower body part of the scan, did the radiation level increase?

Absolutely but I hope that our fans are less quick to pounce especially after seeing how those two separate situations played out.

'The culture is a disaster:' Jones, Vols trending the wrong way

Is this the Travis Haney hit piece that people are referencing?

I wonder if the culture got worse as the roster improved and expectations increased? He seemed a lot more confident and at ease to me in 2013 and 2014. Also seemed to have a greater sense of "control" over games, although he made some blunders vs Florida both years. The OU game in 2015 showed the first significant cracks in the facade he had built because he just looked scared shitless on the sideline once they started rallying.

Also wonder if all those injuries in 2015 led him to take a more cautious approach in terms of S&C and practice to 2016 (to keep as many guys healthy as possible), which obviously backfired. Team wasn't ready to play to its talent level outside of the UF game.

Lol no. It just really rubbed me the wrong way Bc when you do a hit piece on the ā€œcultureā€ of a program that includes everyone from the top down. There’s a lot of tremendous people and players that were in that building during those years that gave their all. Has nothing to do with how crappy the head coach was.

Awwww Butch, you almost sold it. But then you let a little bitty ā€œtremendousā€ slip in there and undo the whole ruse.

Listened to an interview with Phil Steele today. He said he’s talked to CJP before each season. Before 2018, pruitt told him that he didn’t think we had the talent to compete with the elite teams. This year when he asked Pruitt the same question, JP said that he is confident we can compete with any team in the country right now.

Cautiously optimistic. I remember the quotes from recruits last year before the season where JP said something like ā€œif we don’t win 9 games, don’t come here.ā€ Obviously last season was a rollercoaster, but overall we were a damn solid team that just had a terrible start and bad QB play. Think everything other than QB is in place for this season. Hopefully HB can takeover and lead this program similar to Howell at UNC

Cause we got that OL settled finally. Just need good QB play and a pesky pass rush.

I don’t know if many people have addressed this yet. Is there anyway this is pursued? SIAP.

Seems like a good prospect. Main issues are injuries and rust.

He could only play a few games 2 years ago, then took off all last year to rehab and focus on school. He did appear promising before that.

The 'rust' issue is even more important this year. No Spring practice, maybe a limited Fall camp, and limited games. This year is unfortunately not a good situation for guys that need to knock off rust...
